What if activision had the idea of add a pack that cost half of the price but with a randon figure inside ?
cost would be 5 dollars
for the giants randon pack 7 dollars

I'm actually surprised that they haven't made "Mystery" figure packs already. They've done this in other lines, and all they'd really have to do is make a black colored plastic blister. Of course, they'd probably have to make some sort of thing on the base so someone couldn't just scan it on the portal.

ehhh I don't like that idea. With lego and mega bloks figures ya, cause they are small and cheap. But skylanders are $10 a piece. It would get frustrating blowing so much money just for a chance to find the one you want and even then, what about the duplicates?

Yeah $10 is a lot to blow on a mystery fig, I like the idea though. Maybe they could have variants in these so people are inclined to buy some if they already have a complete collection.

I reckon variants should be done via redemption. By either having a scratch card or some random code you have to enter to see if you won.

You mean like Flocked Stump Smash? I would rather have them widely available like Granite Crusher. With a 2 per person limit.

Or mail in 'x' number of packaging card backs, like Mattel does with Hotwheels.

Theyvcould do $10 mystery trip packs with a common, uncommon, rare figure and a 1 in 10 chance of getting a ultra rare variant. If they did something along those lines I think I could see it doing well. Plus it would add a better tradind aspect for ppl with doubles.

The odds of 1 in 10 for an "ultra rare" figure would quickly make it a common figure.

I said this before. The figures even already come with a code - via the web game. Just have the site randomly award folks who register figures. It's simple. HOWEVER, the problem runs into the fact that it's much, much easier to ship out random chase figures than it is to give them away as a contest. The latter involves lawyers and such to draw up all the rules and fine print. |

I like the idea of variants done via redemption. This way, depending on how they do it, it could cut down on scalpers. It wouldn't cut them out completely but would help a bunch. Just remember though, no matter what way you do it something will not be perfect.

This idea needs to NEVER happen for Skylanders to succeed. Kids won't want to buy a blind pack just to be let down and get the one they did not want. Parents would freak out over it, because they would have to spend more money on more blind packs. Sure Activision would make money (MAYBE), but the fans and customers would stop buying them eventually.
