I've been on a Skylanders buying spree in the last month (having a great time playing Giants with my son) and I need help deciding on another Skylander or two for story mode.

To give a little background, I generally prefer ranged attackers. Some of my favs are Lightning Rod (Typhoon Titan), Pop Fizz (Potion path), and Hot Rod (Burninator). I particularly like finesse characters, Pop Fizz is a prime example with the constant switching of potions needed to maximize damage. On the other hand, someone like Flameslinger, while a decent character, is just a little too basic for me.

I've been seriously considering picking up one or two of the following: Zook, Boomer, Hex and Double Trouble. Any recommendations out of those 4? I'm open to other suggestions as well.

You should definitely get Hex (s2) or Double Trouble (any series) because they are overpowered and fun to play as. If you want a more fun character, take Hex, she justs rains skulls down and makes a giant Skull Buddy that does immense damage.

I see you are into the kind of mix/create ish characters. I'd definitely recommend Sprocket even though she isn't far ranged.

Get Hex for new, grab Boomer before he gets even pricier... Ask yourself if you want Skylanders Battlegrounds before getting Double Trouble. Drobot's repose should be good... Hmm, consider S2 Prism Break. He is much better than the first.

zook s very fun, and he has a nicely balanced attack style, involving all his attacks. i reccomend zook.

Flashwing is very powerful as a ranged attacker.

I also need help with choosing a ranged character too. I need a fast character with very far range attacks. But do not recommend these: Double Trouble, Hex, Drill Sergeant, Flameslinger. I already have them.

As for the recommendation, go for Double Trouble. Over the top attacks and extreme damage, enough to defeat any Skylander.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the input! I picked up Zook at regular price and also Double Trouble Series 2 since it was only $5.99 on Amazon. I'll probably pick up some of the others down the road.

I say gill grunt is pretty good, if you don't already have him. Also Flameslinger but you said you don't want him.
