So apparently Best Buy is so desperate to get people into their store for the holidays, they're giving money away.
Just got a $10 Reward Zone gift certificate in the mail for no reason whatsoever. I definitely haven't shopped enough there this year to warrant a "special gift" (despite the fact they say I'm a "highly valued customer" in the letter), and since it has to be used by 12-25-2012 it's clear that they want more people in the store before the holidays.
Still, a free Skylander is a free Skylander, right?
(Of course, the "fine print" says it can only be used on a purchase that meets or exceeds the value of the gift certificate - convenient, that. It means you can't just go in and buy a single Series 2 repose, because you'd be one penny short. Heh.)
But if they're THAT bad off, it probably means they'll declare bankruptcy in a year and there'll be one less store to look for Skylanders. In another ten years, we'll be doing ALL our shopping on-line - and there's no real "thrill of the hunt" when you can click on "Buy It Now" in the comfort of your own home.

I like how this thread went from "I can get a free skylander" to "all stores are shutting down in the next decade and we'll be tethered to online stores forever" in a single post.
In all seriousness though, is there any other fine print beyond the expiration date and that you have to spend at least $10? Can they be stacked?

It's efficient. You get the opening topic and all the various sub-topics resolved in a single post. Quote: landbasered
It's no different than any other Reward Zone Coupon that you'd typically earn by spending X amount of dollars in the store. It can be used by itself, or stacked with any other promotions going on or Reward Zone Coupons you may have. |

Haha this is the quote of the day right here. Best Buy is doing alright..i haven't heard anything about them being in trouble financially. JCP on the other hand is hemorrhaging money, and handing out certificates for $5 or $10 like they're nothing. (in total since I started getting the buttons to enter online, I've gotten about $60 or so) The reason that the money they're giving away is awesome though is because they have Skylanders on sale for the holidays. Singles are $6, LightCore are $7 and Giants are $10. I've gotten about $70 worth of Skylanders over the last few days for literally about $8.

You wouldn't be a penny short if you bought a single pack. It comes off the total price which includes tax
I'm in the Gamers Club at Best Buy, I hope I get one in the mail soon. Their Gamers Club is 100x better than Gamestops crappy PowerUp program.

The disclaimer on this says that tax isn't included in the determination of total purchase price. It needs to be $10 or more BEFORE tax. |

Not exactly. It came in the mail attached to this note: "Thank you and Happy Holidays on behalf of Best Buy. You are a highly valued customer and we feel it is important . . . particularly during this busy season . . . to take the time to show and share one's appreciation. Saying 'Thanks' is one thing, but please also accept this $10 reward certificate as a token of our gratitude. Use it towards anything you or a loved one may be wishing for this season. Simply present it at the time of purchase, or enter the reward certificate code when you check out online. It's that easy. Just be sure to use it before December 25th, 2012. On behalf of Best Buy, thank you and Happy Holidays." So the differences between the normal reward dollars are: * The time limit (must be used before 12/25/2012 or it has no value). * The restriction (written on the actual certificate) that you must spend at least $10 on pre-tax product. It also appears on the on-line Reward Zone account, so if you have an account you can check that to see if one was sent your way. They may send them to people who have been Reward Zone members for a certain amount of time (I've been one for over five years), and not based on any amount spent within the store. (They also have a spend $50 or more, get a $10 Gift Certificate on-line promotion - not sure if you could "double dip" by using this reward certificate as part of the $50 towards the NEXT one.) |
