Packeteer is way better, especially in PVP. I actually did a fairly lengthy write-up of why in the tier list thread, and would recommend the path highly.

Also, what path does everyone recommend for S2 Bash, S2 Drill Sergeant and Lightcore Drobot and why?

Because, say I fully upgraded the megadozer path and wanted to upgrade the other path and then switch back to megadzer, I would have to buy all the megadozer upgrades again. It kind of defeats the purpose of the path switch ability IMO. |

It is really a switch off. I f you like going up close and personal, go with Arkeyan Swordsman. If you like taking the enemies damage and swinging right back at em', go with Undead Defender. I also depends on what type of Chop Chop you have, so it's your call.

I prefer Vapuric Warrior, because the sword is basically useless without that path, however, the other path gives him insane damage with his shield bash which is really helpful, basically, it's your call. |

Can't really give you much on Battledozer Drill Sergeant, but I like Clockwork Dragon a lot better than Master Blaster for Drobot. His eye lazers are NOT, I repeat, NOT nerfed in Giants to shoot slower on CD, and his bladegears are fun and powerful. |

For the first time I am going to give some recommendations(in depth) mostly for pvp
Jet vac: Jet vac requires some practice, but I would say Bird blaster simply because it is easier to use, aort of like Master blaster for Drobot. The corkscrew on vac packeteer however is useful since it can get you out of a pickle, but your projectile is left at 11 damage which is maddeningly low. Tree rex: Both paths are quite even, Lumbering laserer makes him a decent spammer, where as Treefolk charger gets you another Joust jockey Fright rider. I give the edge to Treefolk charger for its speed, which is helpful for Tree rex, yet Lumbering laserer will not upset you(the charge laser is amazing!) Chill: Some argue that Frozen fury is better because it makes her more unique than another projectile spammer, which is understandable. But Ice lancer is the way to go, the ice spears do 25 damagr and are thrown pretty fast. So basically plain and powerful trumps cool and unique here. Pop fizz: Best of the beast. Most people prefer mad scientist, but the thing with that path is that your beast form is pretty useless on it, the potions become a powerful weapon, and the triple potions are great, but Best of the beast leaves all of his attacks with some utility. The special attacks are nice, especially the one via purple potion which helps get yourself into melee range for some big damage. Swarm: Again plain and powerful beats amusing and unique. Barberous avenger greatly improves Swarms DPS, and makes him what is in my opinion one of the most powerful giants,. The razor wings are nice, and work well with his butt stinger missile. Wasp stormer is a fun path, with the bee cleaver and insectsplosion, but Swarm becomes a sitting duck outside of Swarm form. Crusher: Both paths are viable, but I have to say that unlike most people I am a proponent of Rock grinder. Rubble master has some fun and unseful perks, but the accuracy on Crusher's hammer demands that when he hits, he hits HARD. 50 damage a pop is amazing, and you get a ranged combo on this path. The triple ground grinder is a good upgrade for hitting someone trying to run from you. Again both paths are viable, but Rock grinder takes the cake. Fright rider: Joust jockey. Sir lance a lot is fine, but FR doesnt do melee all that great from the start. Joust jockey however gives him some high speed and damage, and if you're feeling lucky you can nail your enemy with the 126 damage entombment strike! The joust damage goes from 30 to 42, which is nice, as well as some extra speed in there to help you hit and run, 360 degrees of spear can be spammed while Jousting to annoy your opponent. Bouncer: Definitely I beam supreme. I enjoyed Robot rocketeer, but it did not do nearly as well. The shooting power on I beam supreme gives him some more skill at range, and the laser mines are decent. A problem with Bouncer is his attacks are rather easy for your enemy to adapt to, and thus Robot rocketeer falls short. Flashwing: A tough call but super spinner is the way to go. Super shards has the unique power of healing but your enemy can easily spike you while you STAND IN PLACE healing yourself. Super spinner makes her fast and is better than mashing down A on super spinner. The light beams while spinning are more useful than I imagined. Sprocket: While Gearhead was fun, Operator is definitely better for pvp. You can spam the triple mines, which act sort of like Vodoods tripwires, or Zooks cacti. Sprocket has below average HP but her defensive abilities make up for it on both paths. Hot head: What we have here is a choice between a character that can hinder melee characters up close, or a ranged attacker. The Burniator takes the cake for being more versatile, on Oil baron you become powerful up close, but your fire burst is left somwehat underwhelming. Shroomboom: Tough call, but I like paramushroom promotion, as the lock and load upgrade is great, and the paratroopers become more threatening and difficult to dodge. Barrier boost is fine for what it's for, but he does not fair as well against ranged attackers, while paramushroom promotion can fair well against both. Well, that's all I hope these recommendations are a help. |

Nice list! I dont have half of those yet, but tree rex is amazing on lumbering laserer. I am too scared to reset him. I really dont like the charges, much like flashwing and cynder. Nether welder is by far superior. You can layer her attacks really nicely. |

^ For PVP, it really is Vac Packeteer Jet-Vac or nothing. I have a thorough write-up as to why earlier in the thread, and personally, I don't think it's even close. In fact, I recommend the path for PVE too. I think that it will eventually become standard for the character, but since the debate is still ongoing v. Bird Blaster, I really must stress how much better I've found Vac Packeteer to be.

#686 Posted: 16:47:04 15/12/2012
Vac packeteer has some fine potential, but he gets mauled by ranged attackers, where as Bird blaster can fight surprisingly great at range. I saw your post for the two paths, and it was well said, however. I don't understand how you would recommend vac packeteer for pve, but regardless, it is understandable that you might prefer Vac packeteer, in my opinion the two paths are very close.

I recently reset my Jet-Vac to vac packeteer. I find it MUCH better than bird blaster. The flying corkscrew is helpful, and your vacume does great damage! With bird blaster, it only increased the blaster damage by like four. I highly reccomend Vac Packeteer for Jet-Vac.

Yeah. Bird Blaster functions by using enemies as ammo, which is not a luxury he is afforded in PVP. Piercing bullets help against a couple characters, but not many. The final damage upgrade is only for 4 per shot, which is really small and doesn't exactly add up. The speed, armor, loads of extra vac damage, and corkscrew are a large list of advantages for Packeteer. I reset L. Jet-Vac for Packeteer after trying it on LightCore and being sold on the idea very quickly.

#691 Posted: 23:58:19 15/12/2012
Very slightly. But the point is that the air blasts aren't powerful enough by themselves to win PVP matches, and the vacuum is, plus it comes with some other stuff.

I think it's too early to say with Thumpback. He's like several other characters in that one path is centered around the concept of combos and a "final" melee damage upgrade, while the other promotes a niche ability instead. We've seen this go either way in the past. It all depends on how much the final melee damage upgrade actually upgrades melee damage, and if the extra two combos are as good as the first one shared by both paths. We shall see.
