Why only 4 new characters, and they are all Series 2? Series 2 doesn't sell as well as new Skylanders. What are they looking to accomplish other than having a lot of shelf warming Skylanders to keep from wave 4 being stocked when it streets?

I would guess it's simply to sell more skylanders to the collectors and people that can't find the ones that their kids REALLY want.
As many parents do by the 23rd, they get what they can rather then get nothing at all.

If you say you have something, why not show it? Don't do a tease that shows something anyone could put together and pair it with suspect information. It's like the bigfoot in a freezer story from a few years ago. They show a picture of a bigfoot costume in a freezer and say "WE HAVE A BIGFOOT!!!" and everyone shows up the next day to see it, and there's no bigfoot. And then when they finally DO go to the freezer, it was all just a hoax. It's like Wicked Thumpback.

The people who collect the unopened singles will be happier about this wave than... the people who just want one of every figure... who will be happier than the people who won't buy reposes without their lightcore. Basically, it gets more money from the super-fans, and doesn't hurt much of the 2013 market by keeping favorites still out of parents reach (who then spend the money on other Skylanders the kid didn't ask for). I really hope we get a couple of new giants, too. Kids would really buy those up after Christmas with gift cards, cash, and gift returns.

Well, CAG is good about putting out ads a week ahead of time. I guess we will see what they fellow CAG's say about the ad for the week of the 23rd. Supposedly it mentions wave 3. I am waiting to see if it does.

Agreed GameMaster78. CAG is really good about putting out the ads early. We usually get them on Friday before, so I expect them tomorrow or over the weekend. I too am anxious to see what the ad has in it especially about wave 3. Still not crazy about the 23rd date but I guess it is at least before Christmas. Happy Hunting

You will not see the ad itself on CAG. That's banned. As was mentioned, they got into a heap of a mess a while back for that. You will see a post on what is in it soon, and might can find the scan on one of the other deal sites out there. A picture of the outside of the box isn't too big of a deal. I didn't repost the pic itself because I preferred to not expose him any more than he chose to do himself because of this. Prim is a very dependable on TRU stuff.

Besides, the contents of it is somewhat expected, at least for me. They want to hold some stuff back and the reposes are good filler that allows them to say "we got more new figures out there" without blowing their load before a whole bunch of players have even gotten the game. I personally have not played Giants on ANY system yet, it is a gift for Christmas along with a hoard of figures for my sons. I personally think they will get in a new Giant to go out on 12/23 in the next week - but we will see, that may trickle out with a three pack in the week or two after Christmas. What is in that box fulfills what is said to be stated in the ad. Figures from a new wave. And it has been a very long time since Wave 2, so it is a concession to those that have been playing and want something new. People need to get it out of their mind that they are going to top of their collections in short order - with multiple Giants, all of the reposes and lightcores, I have a feeling we are going to see this go on for a few more months. The sooner everything is out, the sooner people move on - and part 3 won't be shown for a while. Every time a new figure is released, interest spikes in the game - it would be unwise to drop too much at once.

Here's what I think the'll do for wave 3.


TRU gets it early (December), GameStop gets the SS (January) and everyone else gets it February.

Then they could Have it last 3 months, then give us wave 4 in the summer, then whatever they have planned for a skylanders 3 comes out n the fall.

Zap, if TFB drags this game out until next summer, like they did with the first game, they're going to end up driving the nail in their own coffin.

As a lover of Skylanders, it's absolutely stupid for them to drag such short games on for 7 months after release. Absolutely dumb, and other people think the same way.

All these characters do, is level to 15, gain 10 moves, and unlock a Heroic Challenge that doesn't last long. To some customers who already beat a 75 dollar game 7 months before, it's old news. Fans will start dwindling due to lack of new content.

The faster TFB gets toys out the better. I mean, when you buy a Pokemon game, you have access to every Pokemon in said game, minus the Legendary Pokemon, which some are available on day 1. I know these are toys, and that's different. However, dragging an incomplete game, that doesn't even last 3 days, for 7 months, is a real buzzkill. Sequels should never be announced for a game that is awaiting completion. They did it with the first game, after announcing the second game, but in time, it's going to cause more customers to get tired of the wait, more than customers being willing to wait.

There isn't much left for you then. Hot Dog is in the Battle Pack, which is known to be coming out in January exclusive to Gamestop for a month. We knew he would not be in the Wave 3 singles. That is it for "new" singles. Everything else that isn't out are reposes or repackaging as singles figures that are already available otherwise. Then the three Giants, but we don't know that a new Giant isn't going to be part of this, there is still over a week for them to get them in and all we know is that they don't have them ... yet.

I really don't think this will be drug out until summer. March, yes. Summer, no. I really think there needs to be some perspective here, people like Gamemaster, while big fans, are not the average player. Gamemaster, you may be bored with it by now, and getting them all out would definitely help you out - but the superfans are not the core audience that determine the long term success. The average player got maybe a dozen figures for the first game and will get around that for this one. They probably haven't even played the game yet, most parents are buying it as a present. Come Christmas morning, there will be a reset, it will be like the game just came out.

Last year was a problem. It wasn't so much the release schedule, it was the empty shelves. Not being able to find anything drove some people off. Most kids would have been fine just finding Stump Smash or Stealth Elf, where the superfans long since had those. I went by TRU this morning (just curious if my store accidently put them out, they didn't) but they did have a ton of stuff, every giant, most singles, all lightcores, even some Wham Shells on the pegs. The only thing I didn't see were some Wave 1 singles and Legendaries (but they have had those recently). On December 26, a Crusher, Hothead or a Flashwing on the shelf will mean nothing to many of us, but a whole bunch of kids that just got it will love it.

Never doubt CAG on this stuff. Unlike here, most of the folks there don't get anything out of starting rumors or lying for attention.

Some of these wave 3 should start showing up on ebay soon. Anybody know if this 12/23 release of wave 3 is exclusive to TRU?

Just be warned! TRU ALWAYS send single character packs in a bubble envelope and if you are buying for an unopened collection IT WILL COME CRUSHED!
I have ordered single packs from them many times in the past and it's ALWAYS the same story. I say order it with a giant and or triple pack if you can so it will come in a box!!!

I'm only buying 1 of everything until I get some more money together. So, if it arrives in a bubble envelope, that's fine with me at this point in time. Wave 3 should flood the market like wave 2 is at the moment, for a good 8 weeks or, so I have plenty of time to get 3 more of wave 3 (except Cynder).

Yep, Legendary Stealth Elf came in an envelope, with the bubble crushed. Good thing I had found her at the store before that and just returned it. Sucks that I lost out on the shipping charges, but I didn't want to fight the Black Friday crowds. We open ours, but I'd prefer that we don't give our son a gift that is beat up all to hell and back.

I just called my local TRU and found out that "YES" they just got wave 3 in todays shipment, but is on hold til the 23rd. I asked if they knew what was in the boxes and they told me the same as what was stated above. A list of Series 2 characters (NEW - Eruptor, Lightning Rod, Stealth Elf), 3 new and alot of the same from Wave 2. I asked if they had any Giants or LC, they said "No". Looks like it will be Series 2, GS Battle Pack and TRU LC Shroomy. I did ask about LC Shroomy (Pre-Order) and he said he did not have those at this time.

So new Giants may not even be out on the 23rd?

Honest question for those disappointed in the Wave 3 singles assortment: After what we got in the first two waves, is there anything Activision could have possibly done involving the 32 basic Skylanders that wouldn't have disappointed you?

By the end of Wave 3, 24 of the 32 will have been released as singles, and 29 of 32, including all 8 Newlanders, will have been released in some form. Two of the eight I believe I've read aren't supposed to ever get single releases (Chop Chop and Zap). Two more already have Lightcore versions on shelves. Only Spyro and Wrecking Ball have yet to have a Giants release in some form. Also, I haven't seen anything yet about any potential Wave 3 three packs. Wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them see a release before Wave 4.

For all the complaints about Wave 3, Wave 4 is looking incredibly barren. Seems to me that Activision already basically followed GM's request and put out virtually everything right up front. And now they're getting bashed simultaneously for not having already released more and not having more to release now...

I'll be kind of surprised if Shroomboom ends up being the only W3 LC. That will leave three for Wave 4, unless one ends up getting released some other way. 3-1-1-3 seems like a real odd distribution for releasing new Lightcores.
