Removing the base from a Skylander is difficult to do without breaking one of the three plastic tab inserts. I've done it twice and each time broke at least one of the glued plastic tabs. While breaking more than 1 tab isn't catastrophic, you have to be very careful prying too deep into the base because it's VERY easy to damage the RFID chip. I used a very thin flathead screwdriver and still managed to puncture an RFID. I suppose heating the plastic base might help, but haven't tried that yet. Also, once successful, don't handle the RFID with your oily hands!

May want to ask around in the custom thread?

Skylanders should be magnetically stuck to the base, that way kids could play with the toy and put the base on the portal without the figure on top of it so a little brother or sister could play with the toy or something like that, just an idea tho smilie

Magnet would ruin/disrupt the RFID so that'd be impossible.

Magnets could mess with the portal and stuff.

FYI: Magnets have no effect on RFID technology.

Keep in mind, many of those high-tech door locks use RFID chips (in name badges and such) and magnetic locks.
