^ I never said it sucked, I said it wasn't as good as Super Spinner. But B or C is still best for it, and A or B for Super Spinner.

both are B tier. the spinner makes her a moderatley affective hybrid, and shards makes her a slightly higher than average ranged skylander that can heal herself.

Thanks to everyone who gave some straightforward opinions on Flashwing for once. It's a relief to finally be able to place her in some tiers at least preliminarily. smilie

  • Flashwing / Super Spinner placed in B Tier.
  • Flashwing / Super Shards placed in B Tier, though I imagine she'll be moving all over the place and may even become the first character to occupy multiple tiers.

EDIT: I actually marked Super Shards with a note saying that opinions tend to vary about where she should be placed.

Light....I'm starting to wonder if you even have any sort of real competition. Your assessments are just clearly astray from what most others are getting. This isn't ring out or sky goals. This is arena rumble. It's not suppose to be a popularity contest. It's a Skylander's general strength after recording all it's upgrades.

LightSpyro13 Blue Sparx Gems: 861
#863 Posted: 01:51:52 03/12/2012
I agree that the damage is over the top and the wow pow is pretty awesome! But there are at least 3 problems I found with it.

1. The Skull Buddy is short-ranged, you can easily run away until it goes away if you're fast enough. With Hex's low speed, it's not easy catching up. It's better for fighting slower characters such as smilie or smilie than quick ones like smilie or smilie.

2. Annoyingly, it has to rotate around to aim at your opponent. You can circle around it if there's enough space, or just run away as established in #1.

3. Most Important: If Hex gets hit with even ONE attack, the Skull Buddy disappears and you''l have to make another one. It's really easy o destroy, even if you pop up a bone wall.

I agree that it's a huge improvement though. I feel that it's more of a Top A than an S because of these, or maybe a Bottom S. It is really good for fighting Giants though.

I cant say about siren griffen, because i dont have her, but drobot was nerfed. His rate of fire was lowered, and his style of chipping away health isnt that effective now. There are giants eith over 1000 health, and that takes too long for drobot to kill. He gets murdered in the slow chipping process. Id say keep him in A.
Earth-Dragon Blue Sparx Gems: 972
#868 Posted: 03:21:40 03/12/2012
Two things hurt Drobot:

Too many strong Earthlanders that make it tough for him to be overly dominant

HP totals all raised while his dps went down, hurting his ability to chip away at folks

Still phenomenal and trashes the scrubs, but not so much broken with his blades cutting his lasers out and his overall dps taking a hit with a reduced RoF. A is a great spot for him and a good standard for those Skylanders.

Now, heavy hitters like ignitor, double trouble, and s2 hex occupy the top spots. Big damage is something drobot doesnt have.

#873 Posted: 03:40:12 03/12/2012
But his rate of fire makes up for how much damage each shot does. Heavy hitters that take a their time to take a swing can be wiped out. Although if they are fast swinging heavy hitters, then there is a big difference. Plus hex is just a sucky drobot.

I seem to remember Drobot also being able to use his blade gears while firing as well. Something he can't do in Giants, where there's a brief gap between firing now. He's perfectly fine in A, he can still dominate a lot, but more characters have an easier time closing the gap and putting pressure on him this time around.

Drobot's total damage per second is a little lower in Giants while everyone else's health bars have got bigger. Also, new character additions and misc. additions to existing characters have redefined the standards of what constitutes S Tier. Therefore, Drobot's attack style is just A-Tier-Good now instead of S-Tier-Broken like it was before. It's that simple really.

Some reasoned arguments for the placement of Sonic Boom S2 Siren Griffin would be much appreciated so I can get her in a tier!

Here's the biggest question:

Do you need to use all 3 babies before being able to combine them into a super baby or can you do it with one?

The answer to that question will determine placement. If it's time consuming and you need all three to combine, then it's going to take to long and too many things can go wrong so she should be in the same spot. If you can create it by just holding in the button, it may, and probably will, move her up.

This tier list is the collaborative result of most visitors of this section of the forum pitching in their opinions and posting their research findings over the course of more than a couple of months. it is compiled entirely of this data rather than the data of a single person such as myself.
Most tier lists for anything on the internet will not apply for everyone who plays a particular game, but you should find this one to be more accurate and objective than most of the other tier lists you can find on the internet for Skylanders Giants.

If there's a point you're trying to make here that you think we should understand, then you're going to have to elaborate.
If there is a single tier placement of a certain character that you do not understand, for example, then feel free to ask about it, and i'm sure someone here will explain it to you.

New opinions about tier placements that might contribute to the project are always welcome, so if you have a suggestion for where a character should be placed or moved, and you can back that suggestion up with reasoned opinions, research data and/or comparisons with other characters, then do speak up! Any opinion posted in this thread will be read and considered!

After playing a bit with both, I have a serious inclination that Jet-Vac's two paths should be switching spots, with Bird Blaster falling to D or maybe even E tier, and Vac Packeteer entering C. Here are my reasons:

Bird Blaster's final "maximum damage" air gun upgrade only gives 4~ more damage per shot. Insignificant upgrade from 11 to 15. Of his other two abilities, one requires fodder to vacuum, which the vast majority of PVP characters will not provide. Problem here is, that's also his most damaging attack, and he won't be able to use it. His other perk for this upgrade path is piercing bullets which, while they do have their use, are again designed to hit multiple targets--which you will not usually be facing in PVP. In fact, even if you do face the select few characters that send out suckable objects (Sonic Boom's babies, etc.), there's a certain point where they're going to elect to stop using them on you, realizing that simply out-damaging your lousy 15-damage air blasts is a ton easier than coping with the 70-damage shots you can fire back after absorbing their minions/field effects. If I were Sonic Boom, I'd just run up and start roaring at him, and you know what? I'd win the battle, babies or no babies, because Jet-Vac's damage-over-time is awful.

Vac Packeteer, on the other hand, at least has abilities that do something. Nitpick all you like about whether or not the air tank should have been made infinite for this path (I think so myself), but there's no debating that at least this ability does something, unlike Bird Blaster's super shots, which, again, are contingent on vacuuming things up. This ability makes him a more effective escape artist, and his Flying Corkscrew's 30~ damage again beats Bird Blaster's ability to do... nothing extra while flying. Vac Packeteer actually isn't such a bad escape artist, and often in PVP, especially as weaker characters (this means Jet-Vac), escape is an integral part of survival. On top of that, the "maximum damage" suction upgrade actually does live up to its name, doing up to 11+ damage/tick over Bird Blaster's version depending on proximity. Basically, what this all amounts to is, 4 more damage per shot and two abilities that are niche at best and outright useless at worst does not amount to enough of a reason to pick Blaster over Packeteer, who comes with the list of perks that actually do help listed above. Also, keep in mind that plain air blasts from Packeteer do 11 to Blaster's 15, so it's not exactly like there's even a world of difference between their ranged abilities.

As for how each character competes, I've personally found that Bird Blaster tends to be torn up in the C-tier, because 15-damage, linear ranged attacks with nothing else to back them up just aren't useful. Deprived of his best abilities by the nature of PVP and one-on-one combat, you can't exactly "go Rambo" on things like you can in Story, where there are ample Chompies to use as ammo. You'll likely find yourself trying to vacuum more often than fire, which is a fine approach, considering that C-tier characters are actually weak enough to be in serious peril against a vacuum-based offense. ... Which is incidentally why I think that Vac Packeteer and not Bird Blaster belongs in C-tier. He simply plays to the semi-limited strengths of the character better, and the results should show that to anyone who tests the two impartially.

Where it pertains to Bird Blaster's placement, my gut says D is where he could score the most wins, but I wouldn't be totally surprised to see him end up in E-tier by the time this list is finalized. His main problem is that he is almost exclusively designed for Story Mode (where he is relatively strong), and it shows.

I had been playing with Jet-Vac lately myself more. My lightcore is one path and the regular is another.

Bird Blaster gives you one thing you failed to address: knockback. So the +4 per shot tends to also include a couple more shots.

With that said, I agree with the overall assessment. Jet-Vac Bird Blaster is one of those where you need your A game to win, and when that is the case, I feel you are almost by default E tier. While with Packeteer, as soon as you figure out not to shoot and just take a step and then up your damage by 7 a tick, you start doing decent damage.

I would say drop Bird Blaster to E, but leave Packeteer in D for now. More C will be tumbling down as the trickle from the upper tiers keeps on as the giants boot others out.

Look guys.....I love Jet-Vac. I really do. But this is PvP effectiveness, not story worth. And even in Story he's probably the third best air and only in some situations. As far as looks go, he's great, though I wish he had wings. Adding up the volume of matches against the entire list, he is not a 50/50 wins/losses character. On Bird Blaster in Particular. I'm about done with this PvP showdown in my sig and Jet-Vac has been the weakest participant so far.

Here's a question for everyone:

Who are the average and below characters in Giants?

So far almost every single toon has been recommended at B or above. I sound like a broken record, but there just seems to be too much bias and everyone seems to win more then loose which just doesn't add up.

It only takes one

I plan to do some testing on Barrier boost Shroomboom, right now I am thinking C tier or B.

^ Yep, B tier best suits Barrier Boost (but not Paramushroom Promotion, it is sooo easy to avoid and should be E tier or D tier).

This video of one of my playthroughs better explains it for me (sorry about the shakiness).
