They even had the "add to cart" with Prime shipping, but by the time I clicked on it I got this message:

It is showing up for 14.99 for a few seconds then goes to the pre-orders. Got me excited for a moment.

That's exactly what happened to me too... I was super excited until I got the "wah wah wah" message.

There are none. If Matteo continues spoiling us with his hacks, then something has to be said about Skylanders hacks. Sometimes, hacking a Skylanders game and posting content of yet-to-be-released material would spell trouble, especially if the publisher owning the game notices someone is posting content that shouldn't be revealed too soon.

Well, all rules on here are hard to enforce. I was just wondering if their was a rule against posting hacks.

I see. I see. Yeah that could be a big issue later.

The publisher would contact the site owner, and inform them of the hacks being posted on the forums.

So dark would be blamed and possibly have dSpyro shut down? If you ask me, the YT account should be taken down, if anything does.

Matteo, and the Sweden youtuber, are probably the same person. He is the one posting the videos here after all after they've been uploaded.

It depends on how big of a "menace" activision would want to be. Also, how dark responds I suppose. I agree the youtube account should be taken down if anything were to happen.

When it comes to unreleased content, Activision would probably take down the hack videos and give the Sweden youtuber, or matteo, a warning about their hacking and posting the content.

I kinda doubt Activision will say or do anything about it unless he starts telling people how to hack the game here on the site. THAT would be really bad. But as it is the videos aren't really any more revealing than the preview videos already in the game, and it's not like hack videos for other games (even activision games) regularly get taken down or anything. Worst comes to worst they are losing a single person's money on what is essentially just add-on content.

But I could be wrong. Who knows?

Ah you got the Sniper working in your copy! Is his name actually Buckshot or did you hack it in?

Activision is mostly known for taking down videos of content that wasn't officially released to the public, even taking down artwork that shows old game concepts of one of their video games.

There was a user here who posted that Game and Features Giants trailer on youtube that was revealed too soon. Activision took that video down, and that very trailer was revealed, officially, on the internet two days later.

Aura: I know. But it's a question as to whether or not if that's the character's actual name. I'd gotten it to appear on the Xbox version by file swapping, but not its name. The Skylanders Giants article I put together on the Cutting Room Floor wikia has some more info on the little dude.

Well I suppose I stand corrected, though to be honest this situation doesn't seem too much like the one you mentioned. He is showing gameplay of characters who have already had gameplay shown of them; taking down a leaked trailer is different from taking down some gameplay footage. I guess we'll see what happens though.

Here's the thing - I believe that if he hacks his own game and his own figures at home for personal use, not much can be done to him. He owns all that stuff, so if he wants to alter it, that's up to him. Now if he were to publicly post said hack, then you might be getting into a sticky area, but you pretty much have the right to do what you want with your personal property, at least in the U.S.

An actual trailer is different, because Activision has copyrighted that particular piece of film, it's their intellectual property. That would be like distributing a movie. But taking footage of your own gameplay, even hacked gameplay, they can't stop that.

Technically they COULD, but they would have to take action on ALL the gameplay videos on youtube and tbh that's a can of worms that I'm pretty sure even Activision wouldn't want to open. It'd be terrible publicity.

Also, I am not sure how copyrights on all of this stuff works. I would think that it would play in to this. Copyrights deals with more than copying things. It is all filled with stuff dealing with hacking and what not.

Edit: Sorry I skimmed over the previous comment on copyrights, I still think it would play into it more. Sorry for missing that earlier. it is 3:15 AM and I can't sleep so you guys get the half awake bazinga!

There's really just one. Buckshot (aka Sniper) is an incomplete, buggy character they never finished and used a lot of placeholder files for. If you look at the video, his rifle clips right through him and lacks texture. He uses some of Spyro's data as placeholder (the smaller red Spyro for summoning, the portrait, even the upgrade screen for him is all Spyro's imagery with placeholder text). Heck the model itself is just a troll's model.

Unless they're planning on a patch or dlc that finishes the character we're not getting a Buckshot toy. Heck doing so would just land up with a few ticked parents without internet wondering why their child's toy isn't working with the game they bought.

The Red Dragon is the placeholder for the Prototype Sniper Skylander.


And Sniper is basically a D-Riveter, but looks like the original idea before Sprocket.

Im not a genius in law, but, considering the circumstances, shouldn't him be totally free to hack the game? I mean, he legally bought it, its his to do whatever he wants with it.

Also, that red dragon, wasn't it Spyro's prototype from the original game? What's he doing in Giants? And this Buckshot, I wonder how many other prototype characters there are inside this and the first game.

You aren't buying the program, you are only buying the product. In your interpretation, you own it now so you could modify it and then resell it. That is normally a companies main concern is that he could always sell what he has done and make money off of his hacking which is completely illegal.

Except that hacking the game like that does NOT violate copyright laws, and neither does posting the video of it. In fact, I believe that those videos would be covered by fair use laws. Now if he tried to sell any of it, that would be a different story.

I actually ordered Thumpback on Amazon this morning @ 7:45ish EST. We will see if Amazon actually delivers like they say...
