I've noticed that this site only or what I've seen only shows the console versions of Skylanders. Does anyone play the 3DS version? There are some things with both the console and 3DS version.

Anyways, I've managed to complete all of the main missions in the 3DS version of both Giants and Spyro's adventure. The exception is the adventure packs since I don't own any of them.

Now sadly, I'm a bit sad about how awesome Stealth Elf is in the 3DS but she's not as up to par on the console version. So any comments questions or things about the 3DS version of Skylanders? Also will this site eventually put up info on it? As in more than just that Skylanders Giants is for the 3DS. I can help if need be.

Have you fully upgraded her? You have to spend money on skills in the console version

Glad heroic challenges are gone. Imagine doing 165 per skylander. That's 27225 challenges. No thank you.

I found stealth elf to be much more OP in the console (at least in SA since I only have 3ds giants). At least on the right path.

I myself greatly enjoy the 3ds games. The only reason I don't have console giants is because I was counting on a PC version. Sucks to be me. Anyway, the 3ds games are great fun without getting to close or to far from the console versions.

I'm rambling. It's late. Snaggletooth.

Yes, i did the scarecrow path. i originally had the other path but i hated the last/most expensive upgrade, the one with the hovering blades. u see i didn't mind them appearing when she struck but i didn't like how they floated above her head even when not in use.

i don't have a working console yet so i can't play that version yet. didn't know there was a PC version. could some one give me more info on that?

Sadest part about the 3DS version is that it seems so short storyline wise compared to the others

I have a couple questions... I just bought a 3Ds and the Giants game last weekend, and have played Giants on the 3DS a little, but am kind of offput that the main characters i've been using have totally different moves in the 3DS version so I haven't played it a lot yet... my question is when I upload skylanders into the game, then restart the game, it resets the skylanders count to 2/99 (to the 2 that are saved in the crystals)... am I not able to upload my collection into the 3DS game despite it stating under Collections: "X/99 Skylanders"?? I will be traveling in a few weeks to go home for Christmas and will be spending a lot of time in airports... does this mean I would be confined to just the 2 characters uploaded, I can't access my collection digitally (definitely not wasting travel space on skylanders figures, lol)??

Also, is there a way to switch out characters in the middle of a level, like when you arrive to an elemental gate, or Giants access point (or a way of knowing which elements you'd need for the level before starting it)?? I know these questions are prolly super basic, but I haven't played the 3DS much yet!! Thanks for your help!!! smilie

I have the 3DS games and love both of them. Actually played the 3DS versions of both before the console ones. I am not sure what is going on with it not registering characters, as mine registers them all when you scan them in. On the other question, no there is no way to change Skylanders mid level, it has to be done in the hub on the ship. so the two at a time is all you can go with. There is a way to check the levels when talking to Flynn, and see what elements you need. Just check the level first, then back out and out in the two you need. Hope this helps.

Ah see, the Scarecrow path is junk. Switch her to the knife path. Stealth is one of the most powerful characters in the game on that path.

Id love to pick the 3ds version too, hoping to resell rex and cinder that i already have.
One things that botherbme is: can i play it away? Can i switch skylanders while i am on the subway? Or i need always to choose that at home and stay all day with that?
Is the portal like battleground or is like the home console version?

^ I was wondering about that too... I travel enough where it makes a difference!! Johnnyb, thanks for answering my other post!! I'll have to play with the portal for uploading my characters some more, maybe there's a trick to it or something!! smilie Would you also happen to know the answer to this other question (from lushipur) too?? The reason why it hasn't registered your character is that it hasn't saved. For example if you have 5 skylanders to load and you load them all but not save it'll only show the ones loaded previously. Sadly, in Skylanders Spyro's adventure (3ds) this ment you had to play a level. But in Skylanders Giants all you have to do is go to the part of the ship that you see the skylanders collection/hats Because the game will save while it's loading that part. Because if you load the skylanders and shut it off before you save then it'll not save them.

As for the mid level changing, that other guy was right as there's no way to do so you you'll have to load the two skylanders type before starting the mission. This has draw backs yet makes it more portalble than the console versions.

As for Stealth Elf, I just hate seeing those blade things flying above her head. maybe if I get either series 2 smilie or smilie I'll go that upgrade path. But I don't want to have to restart my stealth elf again. She's level 14 now.

Also I can help with any missions because I've beaten them all but the adventure packs. Curious are the adventure pack levels the same as they were in Skylanders Spyro's adventure 3DS?

Plus I've been working on a walkthrough for the game. I did the first level last night.

Not sure about battle grounds portal but basically it uses infrared to transfer the Skylander data to the game. You can have 2 skylanders active at once. In order to switch them you have to use the portal of power. Basically, the portal of power updates the character to the game and updates the toy. But you don't have to have the toy stay on the portal to play with the character. Infact once you've uploaded it you don't need it on the portal of power until you're uploading the next skylanders or saving the data to the toy.

3ds portal is a thing of its own. Not like battlegrounds or console portals (which are essentially the same). If you want to switch out and about you need it. But once they're in you can go with those 2 all day and leave the portal at home.

So its like:

At home power up portal, choose 2 skylander
Exit home and play all day with those 2

With a battleground oriented style you could have changed that 2 without returning home

Too bad its not like that

Yeah. But technally you could bring your portal of power and skylanders with you. But yeah that's it. and they should edit it like that. Plus I think they should add a multiplayer. Like in SSA they had the ridiance challenges they could easilly of turned that into a multiplayer with players either assisting or trying to beat the others to collecting the radiance.

Thanks for all your help with this 3DS stuff JCat, you're a rockstar with this!!! smilie And yes, I totally agree with you that they should add a multiplayer, that would be amazing and add a WHOLE lot more to the gameplay!!!! smilie I've always thought that with the console versions, but on the 3DS it would be the most useful for sure!!!

It's very fun in its own right. If you prefer platforming over the Gauntlet style gameplay of the console versions, pick it up.

How different is the 3DS version of Giants compared to the console version? I am wondering because Spyro's Adventure was two totally different games handheld vs console. Should I be expect such a difference or is it more or less the same? I read in an early post that it is more platform than gauntlet, what does this mean?
lushipur Blue Sparx Gems: 950
#25 Posted: 18:48:07 04/12/2012
Its more of a platform, cause u need to time the jump, use double jump, run and occasionally fire the enemy. Most of the ranged attack auto target the enemy so its really easy to kill.

So far i like it even if im not big fan of platform (cause im not good ;p ) plus u get to keep the level from ssa and giants.

Only things i dont like is the use of the portal that dont take account that its an handheld console.

I play the 3DS Spyro's Adventure the most out of any of the Skylander games. It's the one I have the most fun with by far. I like how leveling up actually means something since you can get attack upgrades and damage boosts rather than it just meaning your health increases. I also like how it has different movesets for characters since in can make an awesome character out of one that isn't that great in the console game. (Sunburn, Wrecking Ball, Dino-Rang etc)

I don't think the 3DS version of Giants is really worth it though. It tries to be a bit more like the console game, and the framerate issues are horrrible. The new characters also aren't that fun in the 3DS Giants. I always say if you're going to get into Skylanders, you should get the 3DS Spyro's Adventure, and the console version of Giants.

But as for the adventure packs, the only one that's really worth it for the 3DS game is Dragon's Peak. It's easily the best Adventure pack level, and it even has a boss fight. The other 3DS adventure pack levels are pretty uninteresting. Though Darklight Crypt is easily the best in the console versions of the adventure pack levels.

Yes, the 3DS version of Giants was lacking compared to it's prequel Spyro's adventure. In fact there's 15 levels in Giants including the boss battles and 25 levels in Spyro's adventure. I think they tried to make up for the larger levels. How you go from one level to the next was a bit more interesting as it had more to do with the storyline. But I think they tried to make it more like the console version of the game.

One thing, besides some form of multiplayer, I wish they'd do is make it that you don't have to use your portal to change your two active skylanders. You should only need to use your portal when you are bringing in a skylander for the first time and when you are updating the skylander for any new stats. So once you hit max level you don't have to deal with the hastle of bringing out your figures to change the active. The reason why I believe they have it the way it is so that it's more like the console games, as in you have to use the portal of power to change your active skylander.

As DinoHex said it is nice that leveling up does more than give you HP. However, I think it's sad that the final 5 levels (From 10 to 15) or even more depending on what level the skylander gets the 3rd upgrade, you don't get another one. After all it was getting slightly boring level my 15 skylanders to max. I think they should of saved the wow pow as an upgrade you get at a level 11-15. instead of just automatically adding it to the upgrade it adds too.

However, a tip on leveling up. I found it best to actually do the time challenge durng the final boss fight against Frightbread. This is one because you get a good chunk every time you beat frightbread and 2 the extra time goes to exprience. (Since they changed that part of the missions as in getting a time limit after completing the mission you now have to do the timed challenge but it's pretty much that you can't do any other missions with the time challenge.)

EDIT: Just curious for those who have the adventure packs. I have a few questions. 1) Does the old adventure pack levels look the same or are they different some how. 2) Do the knew adventure packs like that Cannon Fire (or however it's spelled) work for the 3DS and if so where to you go to play the level?
