Giants are supposed to be slower than the normal-sized Skylanders.

I did all the speed HC's that I have with my Tree Rex + the fact that he's wearing the future hat actually makes the difference in speed noticable! I guess for Giants, you'd need to add lots of speed to be able to notice.....

Yep, you need a LOT of speed. Their base speed stat is in the low 20s while the average Skylander has their speed stat starting at around 30-40. Definitely a huge difference.

^ My Crusher is at 32 at level 10. But he's still not noticeably faster.

They make a huge difference. Do them with all characters you intend to play for any extended period of time, ASAP. That is all.

It won't seem apparent after just a couple, but the cumulative effect when all are completed is that you walk about twice as fast.

Stealth Elf's speed in the 100's is insanely fast. Use her to complete ANYTHING quickly, except bosses.

Anytime someone mentions the Heroics of Giants, it makes me mad.

I was looking forward to my maxed out Skylanders from the first game, coming to Giants and breaking those caps on stats, but nooooooooo. What they did instead, is nerf the stats of any character that was maxed out in the first game, so that when you did the Heroics in Giants, it brought them back to the same stats that they were in the first game, thus doing the Heroics in the first game means wasted time when played on Giants, as they're taken away, only for you to work to get them back.

That's where they dropped the ball on this game, in my eyes. Well, that, and they made the game shorter and didn't make new Adventure Packs.

For the giants, to see a diff you have to be at about 40 or above from base.
My bouncer is up to about 92, and he's clearly faster than all of the other giants.

As for my 2 crushers, there is about a 28 difference. And it takes about 3 to 4 steps (holding the pad in a direction) for the difference to be noticed.

^ You at least get transfer credit for them though, even if the stats they give have been adjusted. That way you mercifully don't have to re-do them all from scratch, although you are definitely correct about the nerf. There should have been SOME perk for S:SA guys, and even for bringing the re-poses back to catch up on old Heroics. For a game that touts (and mostly achieves) universal compatibility, this seems like a silly choice.

However, perhaps it wasn't a choice at all. My understanding of the workings of the RFID chip indicates that the "switches" that are flipped on your character by completing a Heroic are coded rather simplistically, especially in S1 figures. For example, let's say you complete "Challenge001" or whatever it's called in your character file. Yes, the figure will recognize this challenge as being complete, and even in Giants, it does. However, the nature of the stat boost it gives you manifests in-game only. The game will read "Challenge001: O" or "Challenge001: X" (completion indicators) when the character enters the game, and apply in-game stats accordingly while your character is on the portal. So, if this hypothetical Challenge001 is +5 Speed in S:SA but +3 Armor in S:G, then that's how it's going to appear in your stats on either game when you load the character.

So, I don't think it's laziness... it's more like, the S1 figures weren't future-proofed very well. Which is understandable, considering that who knew there'd be a sequel in the first place? There was a time when no one was sure it would even be a big enough hit to release all the figures, let alone spawn a multimedia empire.

We don't know that for sure do we? isn't is possible that there are still unlockable adventures in there that haven't been announced yet?

Whilst you are correct in how the challenges would be stored on the chip, the SG code could compensate as it knows if a fig is S1 or not.

The pseudo-code could like something like this:

IF IsSet(fig.Challenge001) THEN
IF fig.Series = "S1" THEN
fig.Speed += 5
ELSE
fig.Armour += 3
END IF
END IF

the speed stat is effective. You just need to upgrade it a lot before you start to notice. If you were to reset your character after they are fully upgraded with speed, you'd notice a difference.

While I have no doubt that this is true based on what I know of programming, what complicates things is the hypothetical situation where an S1 character is completing these challenges on Giants for the first time. Then, you wouldn't be expecting Speed +5 when your game states Armor +3 is the reward for Challenge001, but the pseudo-code above would give that stat boost instead.

Basically, I'm not disagreeing that it would be possible, but I do think they made the right call by unifying HC rewards. It's just plain going to be easier this way going forward, and reduce the need for extra variables like those necessary to retain S1 HC bonuses across versions. I know there's some discontent in the community over this, but it's honestly how I would have done it myself, so I can see why they made that choice. The choice to alter the stat rewards in the first place, though, is considerably more perplexing than how it was done.

Very true and I agree with the scenario you raised - at the end of the day, I am happy with their decision as I still just run (okay, walk with some them) around smiting monsters.

They nerfed the heroics because Skylanders go over level 10 now. It will require all heroic challenges for Giants to get a better character than what is a non nerfed version now.

to put a full stop for this crap...

one of the collectors here should put up save files with all skylanders added (when all figurines are released), no playing done, just added the figurines... then people would have all the heroic challenges and don't have to feel they are forced to buy another figurines because they want to upgrade their favorite...

hopeful this is possible with the save files, and all can use the save files for their console...

we need save files for the...
