My kid is going to crap himself on Christmas.
I plan on only wrapping 3 skylanders (two series2 and one giant) and putting them under the tree. After we unwrap everything I will tell him before he can play with his new toys to get the pop (soda for you people in the south) out of the back of the van. There will be a very big box with ALL the new skylanders (plus the Royal Double Trouble IOS starter pack,3ds red pop fizz starter pack, wii bundle with gnarly rex, golden cannon, regular cannon set, GITD Sonic Boom, Gold, Flameslinger, Sidekicks, the 5 Legendarys and Granit Cusher - hopefully wave 3 also )
Anyone have any thoughts and or ideas?

I'd suggest also wrapping and putting the Wii/Gnarly Rex bundle under the tree since it will get a better reaction out of him this way. He'll be super excited when he unwraps the game system, and that will be a huge awesome Christmas moment to remember. Being a kid of course, he'll be a little disappointed that he only got three extra figures to go with it, but he'll still be really happy. After he's let his guard down by thinking he's gotten all he's getting, you send him out to the van where he finds all the other stuff, and that will be another huge exciting moment.
The way it is right now, he'll probably be upset while opening the gifts thinking he didn't get the actual game.

I already gave him the GITD starter pack for good greads so he already has 3 characters (plus all the ones from the first game).
Good idea about wrapping the wii system. I'll make sure it gets under the tree. |

^ Very good point, the Wii bundle would be a good one to have a Christmas moment with, opening from under the tree and stuff, plus it might be more convincing, he might believe there's really no other gifts!! and yes, as L-Sunburn said too, filming would be a great idea also!! My parents always did that, lol

Kids are the greatest gifts in life. I wish you could do a video of his reaction and post it here.

@Dragon Crusher: You should definitely document this with a video, even if it is just for your own personal benefit! It is too bad that you already gave him/her the starter kit because the "prank" would be best if you gave him/her the starter kit of a system that you don't already own/don't plan to own, so he/she has all these figures, but no way to play with them.
...also, I have an idea. This does take significantly much more effort though. Rather than a single jackpot moment (which you would still get), I'd combine it with what I'd call a slow burnout of excitement (or a roller coaster of emotion if you decide to include joke gifts too). I'd wrap each figure individually in various differently sized boxes and in different wrapping paper and only when he/she goes out to the car do you pull them out (hopefully you have a good place to hide and a big enough box to store them in the meantime) and then dump them under the tree like they just showed up when he/she was out and proceed to video tape the reaction of him/her going through and opening each and every one of them. ...then, when he/she's almost done with all the regular figures (he/she'll probably be pretty preoccupied with opening them), one of you brings a separate box of all the wrapped variants and places it just outside your door, knock loudly on the door from the inside when it is closed (if within earshot) and call to him/her to come because there's a final special delivery for him/her and then tape the reaction when they open the variants. Anyways, I hope everything goes according to plan and that you guys enjoy it. Just remember to not impose any ridiculous adult restrictions like not allowing them to open the actual figures or stupid stuff like that and you'll be good, remember it is for the kids.

Last year both my eldest daughter and eldest son got two weird shaped presents - each was a Skylander tower case filled with figurines. It was cool as they were not expecting it.

My wife hates skylanders so I can't do something similar for x-mas. I think one day I am just going to take all the skylanders I have stockpiled in the basement and leave them on a table in the living room for my daughter to see when she wakes up.
