I don't understand why this always happens. Sure, we've got the guarantee (perhaps) now that mods will be in place soon, and that is a relief. I hope that Dark chooses an application system in that he is the judge, or else the only mods there will be are the ones by the popular vote. Always, always there is this popularity contest that ensues and never includes the community as a whole. Just the smallest group who everyone thinks are the best. High school much?

There are plenty of people who are just as good who keep out of the forum sight and stay in the background. They can be just as active, they have more than likely read all the drama that gets tossed around, yet none of them are even thought of. Because of popularity. And I know it's not just me who thinks this.

I totally understand, Crystal. But sometimes people might not choose these people because they don't post as much, thus not knowing if they'd be a good mod.

Why is it that everything that is up with you is a tradegy? You're not living to your full potential when you have the power to do so. You can walk, you can drive, you can see, you can hear, you can do everything you're human body is capable of. Yet you whine about how you can't do anything. Stop being obsessed on everything being done for you. You're older than me, damn it. Start your life. You're already in college. Now you can start lookin for what you want to do next. Find a part time job. Find something to keep you entertained and that makes you stop whining about how bored you are.

This. There are a bunch of users who aren't popular that I think may be good mods, but I haven't seen them post a lot, so I didn't bother listing them in my list of who I'd think would be a good mod due to lack of a strong opinion.

And I totally agree with this. All I'm asking is not to rule out the people who could do well just because they don't post often. And I give you credit for taking them into consideration every time the mod lists come up.

In retrospect, my list of good mods is relatively small. Many of the users I would have backed before have left or likely don't want to deal with it. But I do have a few. Let's not turn this into a debate topic, though. :P

I hate that. Though it seems like it's a good reason, it shows you don't actually know the person that well. It's called giving them a chance: if a person is given a responsibility then the only way to know if they are a good mod is to take it and do it well. Responsibility teaches you lessons, and you at least have to take away a bad habit of yours to do it.

A person might not post because they don't want to get into the drama, like you said. Or they may not post because of no modding. If you notice, I'm posting much more because of the chances of modding and this site being better. I'm also interested in the job so I'm already starting to take action.

Now I remember that I said alicecarp won't be good because she doesn't post much. Well, to be honest, she's a rare case. Three years ago, maybe back further, she stopped caring about the site so she kinda stopped posting. She comes back once in a while, and the last we ever saw her posting on the site and in topics was about the new sparx thing.

Skype Group =/= Popular

Kao Kitty, icedragon333 and a few other users aren't ever talked about, but they're in the Skype Group.

And several people are popular while not being in the group.

Or Kitty, BigBoom, AOB, Bionicle, Aura, Levan..........you get the point.

The Skype group is not the end all be all of who/what is popular. It's just a group for people that want to talk more directly.

This here is pretty much me in a nutshell. I want to see the site get better, just like everyone else. I'd be more than willing to come out of my cave and apply for the role of moderator even after years of staying remote within the forums for that reason. I'm posting more in this week alone than the last handful of months together, which may or may not be doing much.

And yes, I agree with the rest of your post. I think if we give everyone a fair chance, not just those who post a lot, we could get a great group of mods together.
