You didnt see the back of his neck yet. Ot looks really sloppy, even after i smoothed it down with 3 different knives. What could i use that looks like a yamato blast? Im gonna reposition trigger happys arms, so his guns are together, and i cant find something that looks like a yamato blast, or a giant coin.

Also, I have to mention that I saw a lot of your stuff before I came here, Jin. I was checking out some of your Marvel stuff and happened upon it. Really amazing work! I haven't tried to do too many modifications yet, due to my fear of mangling things, but I've started painting a few. Here's a few pictures of a Fright Rider I just repainted: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks! I thought the blue skin was a better tone with the colors I chose. The super un-fun part was repainting the face. I adjusted the eyebrows to a different shape while I did.
My fine detail brush was kind of biting the dust though, or else I would have done a bit better. ![]() I do want to paint more stuff, though. Anyone have any ideas or stuff they'd like to see? I could take a whack at it. |

This isn't exactly a custom-related question, but I'm looking to do some paint touchups on my Spyro and Trigger Happy; what type of paint would you all recommend? I purchased them used from Ebay and they have a few chipped spots that I'd like to take care of.

Thanks! Also, as for the touch ups on figures, make sure you find some good acrylic paints designed for crafts or model painting. The dollar store/large bottles of acrylic paints are fine for canvas and some sanded, rougher mediums, but they will show up a lot more watery on finished figures, plastic and most models. To avoid this, you could put a finish/base over where you're going to paint, or apply multiple layers, however, that's a bit time consuming, and the vibrancy of the paint won't be nearly as solid or bright. |

So, I was thinking of painting a few more Skylanders for practice. I can post some references on here, when I do so. I was looking for an excuse to paint more, as well.
As such, I was thinking of also offering to do custom paint jobs of figures for other. Since I want to just start out, if anyone is interested (upon seeing some more of my work even, perhaps) I'd be willing to do custom paint jobs for people at cost of figure (I'd have to be able to find it, but I'm crafty!) plus shipping. No ideas unwelcome! Would anyone be interested in that sort of thing? |

I use either good acrylics (higher end, model quality) from art stores, or Warhammer model paints from Games Workshop. They're both good choices, and designed to be vibrant and solid on plastic.

The best paints I've found for Skylanders are the professional hobby paints like Model Master Acryl (NOT enamels) from Hobby Lobby or Formula P3 by privateer press, a gaming miniatures paint company.
Never use enamel paints because they won't dry and remain sticky forever, slowly dissolving the plastic. These usually come in square jars and should be avoided. Cheaper acrylic craft paints usually aren't the great because they're formulated to stick to porous surfaces like wood and metal. However some brands may stick better than others, you'll just have to try them out. Some colors like pearl and glitter colors are only found in craft paints. The exception to this is primering your Skylander with a hobby paint first, like a full coat of Testors Model Master Acrylic white/grey, the craft paint sticks much better then. |

Hey, thanks guys! I REALLY can't wait to do a custom Eye-Brawl. Same with Ninjini. I haven't bothered doing any of the current giants yet, due to monetary constraints, but I plan to in the future.
I'm off to get some paints later to paint some of my original Starter set cast, along with perhaps Prism Break and Ignitor. I'm not sure what to do with the original Prism Break. Any ideas? Something about painting over clear bits just feels wrong to me, haha. Also, remember, I don't mind doing the paint jobs for people, at cost of figures and shipping. I need the practice. If anyone wants that Fright Rider as well, I'd be willing to give that up. Nibelilt, if I did a tech Skylander, who would you want to see painted? I was thinking Drobot or picking up an extra Sprocket. |

Yeah, I might see if I can pick up an extra Sprocket. If I didn't have the one boomer, I'd love to customize him. I had to buy a second hand Boomer at that to even find one. D= I think that would be a custom I'd want to do deliberately for someone, as I like to have one unaltered in my base collection. I'm not sure I could think of something mindbreakingly awesome for Drobot, anyways. What sort of colors do you think would be good for Sprocket, if you could pick? I need a base color to work off of, but I can't make up my mind, haha. |

That's too bad! I might be able to come across one somehow. I'll work on it. See if you can find that picture, if you can! That sounds easy enough to do, though. Would you say the skin was pure white, though? Or, maybe a little tinted? |

The colors are visible, that's all that's important.
