I've skipped days annually because of E3.
And I turned out fine. I get an A for pretty much everything except P.E.

I assume Jake to be in elementary or junior high. Guys, missing out on one and a half hours when you know that your workload for the day is pretty much complete is no big deal. I agree that it's not the necessarily the most responsible parenting decision, but you're overreacting. Kids deserve to have fun when they're young, because when they grow up they become 'mature' and busy and unable to have such fun.

Good for you Jake. Have some fun. Life is way to short to not relax. My HS football career ended Friday. I had a great time, but it felt like it was over in a second. Four years gone. It seems like it was only a few days ago I was a freshmen.

So guys, enjoy life now. Have a fun day every once in a while. He missed a freaking hour of school. Big deal. Besides, nothing matters accept your ACT score. Work hard, but don't take life too seriously.

Oh, and Himewad, how is therapy going?

As im reading this hole thing im sitting there wondering....How many of the people involved in the creation of Skylanders or any video game we enjoy for that matter. Skipped school or had parents that did what Jake's mom did, just for a video game release or event are laughing every time they read the "RAGE" post people make that video games are not as important as an education lol. Video games for a designer, creator, developer...etc. of video games, it is there education =)

My kids may or may not think I'm "cool" as everyone here puts it, but my coolness will not be determined by me taking them out of school to play a video game. Kids are in school little enough these days - they certainly don't need video game breaks. And it's laughable to think that video games are training them for their future careers. They are a nice escape, and a way to have fun with friends and blow off steam, but they should not be an alternative to sitting your butt at your school desk.

My point has been made. Go ahead and continue killing me for having a "responsible parent" opinion.

He missed an hour of school. It's really not a big deal. I don't think a parent should let their kids skip school. But, you also need to know that it's not a big deal. I've missed a few days of school to do something fun. I've hung out with my parents, or went on a road trip. It didn't ruin my life. Good to know you are "Responsible". wow, huge $4!7 storm here huh? people need to chill their nuts. big whoop, you get pulled out of school earlier, he probably didnt even miss the whole day. its not like you miss too much in one day, besides, if you have good grades and know what you're doing, who gives a ****? my friend got picked up right as school started to get black ops 2, no he's not a generic 4 year old fps gamer, hes not spoiled, he has straight A's. i bet everyone's just jealous.

everyone's overreacting, it doesnt matter if someone misses a session of class. i pay very well attention i my science class and i almost failed a couple tests. and it really shows what people know about schools, it's not illegal and no school will track down the reason you left and flunk your level of education for missing class. if a legal guardian signs him out, he can smoke pot (as long as the police dont find out and no social workers are called). dont be stupid, live a little, its a good way to show the awarding side of parenting. if you are too strict your child may end up like someone from north korea. (scary place)
