Hi Folks,
I just bought the PS3 version of Giants for my kids for Xmas (so it hasn't been played with yet)..............Now I have picked up all the available Giants I could get (excluding hot head) and the new available characters for Giants. My question to you is this: I decided to pick up one of the lightcore characters (Prism Break) and it got me thinking. Is it honestly worth it, to get all of the original characters that have now been recast for Giants. I spent a good amount of money making sure my kids had all the characters from Spyro's Adventures over the last 12 months and as we can use these in Giants, am I wasting my money essentially rebuying the characters for Giants?
Can someone give me the advantages to why I should buy these recasts as opposed to just using the characters from the orginal.........by the way, what is so special about the lightcore characters apart from them lighting up on the portal?
Thanks for your advice and help
cheers

Don't get the light-core figures they just make an explosiaon when you put them on the portal that damages everything, you can use it 1 time in a level, they are the same like the original figures..Get some S2 figures you can switch paths and they have a WOW-POW.

You should buy the reposes. They might have Wow pows and can switch paths, but is it really worth buying characters that you already have??? Just get the new characters to save more more money😺😸😻😽😼🙀😿😹😾

Please do yourself a favor and buy most of the reposes if you like strong characters. By and large, they are better in-game than the new additions, and some are superior to the Giants as well. A totally worthwhile investment for favorites of course, but certain Wow Pows are worth buying on their own--even useless old Chop Chop is a force to be reckoned with due to Wow Pows.
Plus, the figures are future proofed better. So, to sum it up, the Wow Pows fix a lot of the power inequities and balance issues of the first game, while also adding some new ones due to sheer overpowering. And your figures will take advantage of more features in subsequent sequels. EDIT: And no, Light Cores are not worth it. They are fancy S1 characters with none of the features I've specified above. |

if you do not have them then sure but if you do save your money. it's also worth noting that Lightcore reposes DONT get any series 2 Pow-Wows or anything so the only Lightcores you want are Pop-Fizz, Chill, Shroom Boom, and maybe Jet Vac (depending on what version of the game you bought.) Although I can say that Lightcore Prism-Break is the Best Lightcore toy. The effect the lights in his arms is really cool.

Thanks for getting back to me folks!!!!!! So do all of the reposed characters have this "Wow-Pow" or just some? And which characters have the best "wow-pow"....ie represent a great upgrade on their first game compatriots?

The reposes are the same as the original characters but they can switch paths and have the "wow pow" or special ability. I recommend only getting them if you love a character or didn't find him in the original pose. All of the reposes have a wow pow and switch path ability but lightcores don't. What i'm doing as i'm just getting into skylanders is getting the original triple packs on EBay which tend to be cheaper than the MSRP was 1 year ago. Then i'll buy the new characters and giants aswell.

Don't put too much stock into "wow pow". The ability is very expensive in-game, and essentially the final upgrade. You need to have the soul gem upgrades (3200 gold if you have every possible discount) before can use the wow pow. You might never even see it in action.
That said, only the figures labelled "series 2" have wow pow. None of the others do. |

In the last game every character unlocked a challenge level (well, except for the repainted variations)...
In Giants do the characters unlock challenge levels? if so, do you need to get the series 2 character or will the series 1 character unlock them also? Thanks |

Clarification. Soul Gem powers are 2400 and Wow POWs are 3000 with all 20 winged sapphires (which aren't that hard to find). If you need money, change the luck-o-trim to as many wealth wheels as you have, do a level or arena match, and then go open the doors to the vault and grab the 320 gold on the focsel. It's not hard to get wow POWs. Just dont be frantic with your figure switching. Play the same 8 until you figure you've played enough of them and beefed them up to your liking.
Again, your Skylanders will advance much better if you just play with a few at a time not the entire 20, 40, 60, or however many you have.

Glad heroic challenges are gone. Imagine doing 165 per skylander. That's 27225 challenges. No thank you. |

Yes, all do. I only have five. (Hex, Gill Grunt, L-Ignitor, L-Slam Bam, and Double Trouble) and I have only gotten Hex to the max. Her Wow-Pow (On XBox 360) does a whopping 200 damage points each hit, it only gets THREE though.

I wouldn't. I'm not. Before Giants I said I would only get reposes of my favorite characters. And of coarse my top 5 is:
Warnado Dino Rang Voodood Sunburn Ghost Roaster Now that right there is just messed up . I will only get Lightcore for a newbie I do not yet have. That's why I am saving Chill for later.

You don't need the Soul Gem for the Wow-Pows (excluding Gill Grint and a few others). The Wow-Pow was one of the first things I bought on my Series 2 Cynder and Chop Chop.

If you really enjoy the Heroic Challenges, you'll want to have some sort of series 2 collection. Series 1 can backward to S:SA for heroics, but the newlanders can't, so they need the series 2 unlocked HCs if you want them to gain more power.

I checked my series 2 figure on the upgrade screen, and it specifically stated that I must have the XXXX upgrade (XXXX being the name of the soul gem upgrade) before I could buy the wow pow. Maybe it is different for each figure? |
