so I go to my local wal-mart today go to the skylanders aaanndd..... a both new three packs but no wave two single figures or ANY giants! I was like "huh? how did this get reduced from full stock on saturday to nothing on tuesday?" then it hit me, someone scalped all the wave two singles...

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not necessarily, people might have only bought one each, which wouldn't be scalping, or maybe they didn't get the singles.

Pfff, that's nothing. I went to my local Gamestop looking for Sprocket and Flashwing, and they told me they were sold out. I asked when they might be getting another shipment, and they told me that it would be another week or so, since they had gotten their last shipment 15 minutes ago! They told me one guy had come in and cleared the shelves. Bought every single one of them.

yeah I'm just really conangry (new emotion, mixture of confused and happy) that something like this could happen so quickly...

also does anyone know when the actual release date for wave two was?

I just left Walmart and they put up a new Giants display. There were 8 flashwing and 8 sprocket but no hotheads.

I just went to Walmart and they FINALLY got some wave 2. Had several Hot-Heads, some Flashwings and some S2 (Double and Bash).

After I pick up my HH and Flashwing, this guy comes and gets all the rest of the Hot Heads. That's like, 7 of them.

And surprise, surprise... I just saw an ad on Kijiji, 40$ a piece for them.

Those people need to be hung by the nuts. Seriously.

What sucks is that they have laws against scalpers but they apply only for public/cultural items (like tickets to a show or something) but don't apply to consumer goods, so they can do whatever they want with Skylanders, since they're "just toys".

What's freaking sad is that I'm 30 and have money but it's the families with kids who were going to buy some for their kids that are going to pay for some a-holes ruining it for everyone else.

Way to be a productive member of society, you jerkoffs!

even stupider is that, say in a big sale the store will limit you to only buy up to 4 of something, and it's just usually something like toilet paper!

But, it's all about production of figures. They'll have to produce way more figures than they do now if they want to get a successful online store.

Stores need to put in place policies that limit the amount of Skyanders per customer. For at least, three months after the figures release.

Scalpers just haven't had a great market item with the exception of the fabled hot head. But as far as the rest of them go, there has been plenty of early availability. Just wait until after black Friday. After that it's game on with most figures.

It took Amazon over a decade to start making money. It's not that easy. You are better off just shipping your product out to a handful of distributors and them worrying about the bulk logistics then relying on a massive online store. Not to mention, you will ALWAYS need store front visibility. Sure. Their current customers would love to just buy figures online, but how will you get additional customers. This isn't a word of mouth item. It needs to be seen, hence the portal preview centers for the first game.

Actually, this is a word of mouth item. When people like a game they talk about it. They tell their friends, they go online, and they discuss it! That's how I found skylanders. But, I see what your saying. I don't think a purely Skylanders only online store would work. What they should do is offer a place where we can buy hard to find figures. Not variants, but Whamshells and the like. Then they could limit people to one only.

I'm not condoning the "scalping" - but sadly, sometimes it's the only way to get the rare ones. I have in the past sold Skylanders on evilbay in order to fund the purchase of other "overpriced" Skylanders from evilbay.

In my defence, I would prefer to just exchange Skylanders that I have for ones that I don't - and in fact, I have traded a Glow In The Dark Fright Rider and a Gnarly Tree Rex with members of this forum for figures that I didn't have - it's by far the best way, and helps out both parties.

But it's a sad fact that some people are in this PURELY for the money. Me? I'm in it because I want a complete collection - variations included, and if my only means of getting them (due to their cost) is by selling other Skylanders to help fund those purchases, then that's what I have to do - I'm a father of two, and not made of money.

What I'm pissed off at, is people who take advantage of everyone and do stupid crap, like reselling some S1 characters (even the re-posed ones) for like 20$ on Kijiji/Ebay. Or like that one ad that says like "missing some Skylanders? I have them all!" and sells the characters for 25$ each or better yet, the adventure packs for 40 damn clams a piece!

Yes, *that* is that makes me annoyed and want to beat up those people with some goddamn common sense.

Sadly, I tend to forget what kind of economical system we're in and that people are only in to make money off other people's backs however they can.
