At this point, why bother with Series One Figures? [CLOSED]

Obviously, aside from those figures that didn't get a Series 2 repose, I'd love to know:

What's the point of Series One Figures?

Their challenges are unlocked by their S2 counterparts. The difference is they're completely trumped as well since they miss out on the free re-pathing and Wow Pow those S2s have.

Am I missing something? Or are new players, in fact, lucking out since they haven't wasted money on S1s?

I personally think the value of them being series 1 is more than a wow pow or path change.

Really bummed HCs are only for S2s... But, hey, I have S:SA so I can still do the challenges there.

S2 are universally better, you're right. Better sculpts, the ability to switch paths, access to Wow Pow abilities... they have it all. There are certain S1 figures that will never be rereleased, but otherwise, it would benefit everyone to at least snatch up reposes of their favorites. Don't think of the first as a waste of money though; you've had a year with them now, and gotten plenty of use, I'm sure. S1 figures are selling for quite a bit on eBay, and I'd say, if money is the issue with upgrading to S2, you can always do that with them...

The ability to switch upgrade paths at will and one extra (though not necessarily useful) attack doesn't quite out-weigh the desire to play with one's favorite characters. Also, not everyone like the look of the re-poses better than the old ones. Lightcore drobot barely looks much different than S1 except for that tiny light on his back, and his wowpow for S2 doesn't even mesh well with his best upgrade path (Master Blaster), so I've got no reason to replace my S1 figure that already has all his upgrades (who I named Tron). Plus I'm sure there will be a lot of new players who don't want to wait for the craze to die down enough for them to get the new figures, and may just go straight to S which are readily available and will keep the kids happy through christmas.

Overall, I guess it comes down to what individual people get out of the game, and how much we want to put up with trying to find that one figure that everyone seems to keep snatching up.

In my case,it's best to have an S1 than anything, unfortunately. Just now I found some S1 toys at a good price and it's a lot of them, while I found out in a convention SG is only coming out in my country in the END of November. While I can wait for a few,the prices will be even worse, and I had the biggest luck to have the Portal Owners pack out of stock at the only website where I had no problems in buying SKL internationally.
But of course, other things in case you live close to all stores with toys like in the US. Some reposes are outright horrible(Lightning Rod,anyone?) and some Wow Pows aren't that needed unless you really need the firepower(Drobot's or Sonic Boom's for example).
Also, some people are lazy like me. I'd rather go and get 5k treasure, buy most upgrades and train with the Skylander right now in SSA,than wait for them to arrive, than spend a lot in SG for the upgrades and having to go through really hard challenges to get a few levels in an hour.

There is two reasons to keep them, they act as different members of the collection in Skylanders universe so if you have both cynders, you have two cynders in SU and in Giants, they also act as different members of the collection and boost the elemental power of other skylanders

Well, if you don't want the wow-pow, then all you need to do is NOT buy it from Persephone, and you'll STILL be able to switch paths (I think, but I still don't have the game, but in SA you only needed the basic upgrades to choose a path, and would NOT need the soul gem ability even IF it was being sold, so I'm guessing it would be the same for path switching, but replace "basic upgrades" with "first path's upgrades" and "soul gem ability" with "with soul gem ability and wow pow") And that would be useful because if a skylander has one path that rocks at story but sucks at pvp, and another that rocks at pvp but sucks at story, then you could use the story mode upgrade path first to allow you to progress through the story, and when you finish that path, switch, and then get enough money to finish path 2, you will be at a sufficient level, or closer to a sufficient level to pvp, and you will be able to continue doing story with the path 1 simply by switching back, and when its time to pvp, you switch to path 2. MUCH better than buying 2 of that character just to benefit from the strengths of both paths, and better than buying 2 of any character just to avoid resetting to use both paths.

As simple as 1, 2, 3.

1. You want to be one of the unreposed 8,
2. You feel a need to let your wallet live in peace,
3. You want to be an authentic player. (S:SA is amazing!)

Yeah. That's just a cash-grabbing idiotic move on Acti's part. It'll make little kids confused and sad. Way to go Acti.

Of course wham-shell will be pricey. As soon as you see he's not on the new poster, you'll want him even more. Almost all 8 non-reposes are selling for around double SRV or more.

So i have series 1 and series 2 Trigger Happy maxed out as far as i can get them at the moment. I thought id throw a stat compare between the 2 on here for giggles =)

Series 1 Trigger Happy--- Series 2 Trigger Happy

Level-15--- Level-15
Health-511--- Health-511
Speed-90 (+4)--- Speed-90 (+4)
Armor-54 (+10)--- Armor-54 (+10)
Critical-120 (+10)--- Critical-120 (+10)
Elemental-101--- Elemental-115
Heroics-43--- Heroics-43
Hat- Gold Top Hat--- Hat- Gold Top Hat

I ran them both through the same exact things and there path is the same for the purpose of this test lol, the only stat difference i can see is the 14 elemental power gain series 2 gets.

37/37 series 1, 4/4 Adventure packs, 4/4 sidekicks

8/12 Giants, 7/11 Newlanders, 4/8 LC, 16/27 S2, 2/3 GITD, 1 Gold, 5/6 Legendary, 1/2 battle packs...

So basically this tells us from a statistical standpoint that every single one of the reposed characters are better then the series 1 characters in game except for the original 4 Legendary characters. So if you are like me and only care about having the best in game version of each of the 48 characters, here's how I see it. Please tell me if you see something wrong or if I'm leaving something out.

8 Giants (Granite, Scarlet, Gnarly don't matter, L Bouncer is superior)

8 New Characters (Jade, Punch, Molten don't matter, L Jet Vac and L Chill are superior, LC Shroomboom, LC Punch are slight upgrades because of the bomb effect)

24 Series 2 Characters (Polar, Royal don't matter, L Slam Bam, L Ignitor, L Stealth Elf are superior, I'm assuming series 1 L Spyro, L Chop Chop, L Bash, L Trigger Happy are still superior, LC Eruptor, LC Drobot, LC Prism Break, LC Hex are more like series 1.5, a slight upgrade from series 1 but still probably overall better to have the series 2)

8 Non Reposed Characters

It would seem the series 2 characters not only have a slight stat avantage but ability advantage as well. Plus you can change your path. Pretty much my kids are getting the series 1's and I'm taking all the series 2's lol

What I'm doing is hunting the down original 32 online to play in giants because it's good to have the original collection if you are a collector, like me. Now I'm only getting those 32, the 8 giants and the 8 new characters. No reposes or lightcore because that is just spending money on duplicates in my mind. So your right S1 have no real use, just they are a couple bucks cheaper, available online and offer 8 characters not S2.
