I think there is generally a lot more stock around this time, and in different places. For example my local Sainsburys didn't have any S:SA figures but are stocking Giants plus Asda and Tesco are selling them below RRP so canny parents may be buying online rather than raiding TRU.

Plus it's a funny time of year...Parents are telling kids to wait until Christmas and not all parents understand the idea that things come in Waves and some might be disappearing off shelves.

But with the look of what is coming in the next wave, there's probably going to be duplication of Giant figures in each wave. Activision are shipping 6 Giants per box, 2 of each in Wave 1. Not had the breakdown of Wave 2 yet but I expect 3 Hot Head and 1 each of the first wave to keep stocks up. As an indie retailer I'd love a box of 4 or 6 Hot Heads but I don't see it happening.

As for the reposed figures, we are getting customers who are brand new to Skylanders so will buy these, plus others who don't have the Adventure packs so want Terrafin and Slam Bam.

Same here. Stores that were promoting it have already started removing the additional promotional material and POS.

Also, heads up in case no one has mentioned it - Pocket World have a couple of Skylander freebies (Tree Rex postcard and Machine of Doom mini-book) in the latest issue.

Does anyone know whuch UK Store has the Glow in the Dark Fright Rider? I've seen loads on ebay and one said its only available as a UK exclusive in only one store. Any info on stone zook and whirlwind would be great too.

GitD Fright Rider is an Argos exclusive.

And as for the Stone figures? No idea. Just keep an eye out for them like the SSA variants.

My son just received a box full of goodies from activision for winning the skylanders arena tour competition....in it was a ps3 starter bundle.....puzzles....3ds skylander pens....all the books...collector card binders...and more...Thankyou Activision for your generosity.

Many reasons.

For one, they often do wind up being cheaper. Yes, there's reward points, but the amount you get versus the amount you save importing often makes them worthless (when I imported my PS3 from Japan, I saved over £100 - And that was including the shipping).

And not with Skylanders, but often with other items, the UK is pretty terrible for merchandising. I trust France more than my own country to provide me with merchandise from several other series I follow, simply because I have trouble buying them in the UK because they've decided not to bother releasing them, even though they told retailers they would be.


And sometimes, it's just that the excitement is so strong you simply can't wait - I've purchased many games before just to play them before the UK gets them. I've never regretted it.

Ooh, time to keep my eyes peeled on the shops then. Flashwing is the one new Skylander I really want, although Hot Dog is a bonus.

Anyone know the release date of Wave 2?

The first retailer I saw selling Wave 1 informed me yesterday that Wave 2 is being held back until Feb 2013 in the UK as they don't want to swamp retail with too many figures.

I don't believe that for a minute...the Christmas sales of the figures will be enormous, holding back makes no commercial sense at all.

AFAIK distributors are looking at an end of November release, and as some Wave 2 figures are already available in Europe they won't hold them back here.

Yeah, that makes no sense. Not just with the Christmas sales either, you'd think they want to capitalise on the January sales too. Putting it in February skips both of the most opportunistic times for sales in the UK.

lol, er this is bollox. end of november for uk release. wave 2 is already available and shipping in some european countries.

^ Sorry wideawakeweasley but that is total rubbish, my supplier contacted me last week as they have/getting in very shortly Wave 2. When I placed my Wave 1 order it came within 3 days. As we know already Wave 2 is super rubbish for Independants. Activision really need a kick up the arse for that.

Yep, he was wrong. Just said he's getting Wave 2 at the end of November. Trying to get an exact date from him. That's twice he's got his info wrong now, so I won't bother using him as a source in future.

I wish you luck my friend, any clued up collectors would have waited for Lightcore Triple Pack. You are not the only store stuck with Lightcores, my local GAMEs and Sainbury's are the same, they can sell everything bar the Series2 and Lightcores.

True, but most of our customers are primary/early secondary school age so that's not the issue

I've skipped them myself but will probably pick up Prism Break and Drobot at some point.

And yes, the Reposes are definitely peg-warmers.

Am I the only one here who has been having a lot of trouble finding Granite Crusher?

I picked him up on Day 1 from my local Tesco and they had loads but I don't go to Tesco often and last time I went they had normal Crusher but no Granite so maybe he was only shipped in the early boxes?
