There are literally dozens and dozens of other 'tycoon-style' games like this available for both iPad AND iPhone/iTouch. This had better come out for iPhones... -___-

Has anybody with an iPad just switched their country to Canada and tried downloading? I've heard that works for some games (you may need to sign up for an additional account iTunes though).

I'm playing this right now. I can't put it down. All my web codes for my Skylanders work and unlock the Skylanders in the game.

Are there a lot of Gem-only purchases?
Are the waiting times long (in your opinion)?

Not a lot of gem only purchases, a few items but not vital to the game. Some things do take time and I made the mistake of putting all my Skylander codes in right way which unlocked a huge ton of quests all at once. Lots of quests. The one gem item I really want to buy is the Cloud Patrol airship. You start with one balloon to go on adventures in, and as you progress you get more. I'm currently level 7 and I have 3 balloons but because of the huge number of quests I have thats not enough for me. It is a game you have to be patient.

No fighting or in-character play. You assign a Skylander to go on a balloon adventure and all you get to see is a little icon of their face where the balloon would be. A lot of things to build.

Sowing crops earns you energy, which you use to go on balloon adventures with your skylanders. Balloon adventures earn you some money. The houses are paid for with money. These provide kingdom points, which level you up. Houses also provide you with a set number of citizens, and when you build a community building the people are the currency. Once you have the community building those citizens are no longer available to build other community buildins, so you need more houses, better houses, etc etc. You get the idea I think.

I'm surprisingly addicted, but I love town and kingdom building type games. Its worth a look, it is free.

I forgot to add that every so often when you level up, not every time, but every once and awhile, you get a free skylander given to you. You can buy skylanders with gems or unlock them with your code. I'm level 7 and so far I've gotten Spyro, which you start with, and another Skylander, rolled at random. I got Legendary Chop Chop which is a great roll because I don't own that Skylander. I wouldn't had been able to unlock him.

strangeseraph, one of the screencaps above says "Power up your Skylanders by completing goals!". To your knowledge, is there anything in this game that translates back to the figurine's stats? Or, is this like Cloud Patrol, where the most you get from your figurines is the satisfaction of using them in-game?

If the latter, did they implement character-specific abilities? I know that was something Cloud Patrol launched without, and it made character transferring rather... droll.

Playing this now. I just wanna let you know it's extremely easy to make a Canadian iTunes account and hop on this. That's how I did it.

Only thing I can compare it to is... Sims for Facebook? Although, I was quite addicted to that as well.

This one kept my attention longer than Cloud Patrol, but I'm pretty bored of it now. It's too much like every other time based town style game that's out there for the iPad already and is lacking in Gem purchase items, there's only a handful.

Maybe when they release the update and I can finally open the 5 locked chests that need Giants to open, then I'll find it fun again.

At the moment, it's iPad only. It could still be ported to iPhone and/or iPod, but there's no guarantee.

I'll be surprised if they don't though, considering freemium games like this almost always generate companies a large sum of money if popular enough.

Update 1.1.0 released today, they added Giants and iPhone/iPod support. Yay!

Just downloaded it on ipad 3. Works great. Hopefully the iOS starter will come out soon.

The game and goals are good... So far. But it seems there are so many Gem-only items for so much, and so few things to do with regular Coins, I think it will wear out within a while pretty quick. Maybe it's too early to judge but an Adventure Airship is 400 Gems, a Radiant Enery Field is 92, and there's even a stone house for I think 40. But you look to unlock maybe one or two Coin items a level in the later ones which just isn't that much. It's good so far... I just don't see very much value long-term... But I might be wrong. It's actually a lot better than I thought it would be so far so at least it gets that.

But seriously, I'm very disappointed with this. I'm not impressed with Apple products as it is, so there's no way I'll be buying a new iPhone or iPad anytime soon. Looks like Beeline will have all my spare cash again.

Did anyone happen to notice that the shot of the iOS starter pack in the video now shows Royal Double Trouble? The game also includes a portal link button on the character summon screen. Fingers crossed we see this version before the end of the month!

Also, odd that wave 1 and 2 characters are all that are able to be summoned. Perhaps the updates for this game will be clarification of wave contents in the coming months.
