I've decided to wait till Christmas to get Giants, mostly because I want it for the Wii U (even though I have a Xbox) and because most of the toys will be out by then. Anyone else doing this?

My two sons who I bought it for... already purchased everything they are getting though.

we got the first 1 for xmas and its kept mt 2 eldest sons/wife and myself quite all year, so weve done the same this year, got some stuff already and will get some of the 2nd wave stuff too

How did you get GITD Fright Rider and Granite Crusher?

I'm getting Giants Nov. 20 because I want the Wii U version of the game. I already have all the Giants and Newbies for wave 1, as well as LC Prism Break and S2 Chop Chop. Thanks to these guys, I want the game even more.

Do you have any links or info on the Wii U version? I'm curious and wonder if I should get that one too, or instead of the PS3 version I have on order.

yep, unless I get it two weeks early, on my birthday.

I've already started collecting, but I do expect that I'll probably get something Skylanders related for Christmas from family.

My birthday is also between now and then. ;3

I'm getting Skylanders: Giants for N3DS, a three pack and a single pack for Christmas, and those are my Christmas presents.

The Wii U version is supposed to release with the Wii U on the 18th. One of the neatest little features is that you can use the touch screen on the Wii U gamepad to do things, like go the menu without actually pausing the game. But what's even neater is that you can use the gamepad as another TV screen, very handy if your family wants to watch a show or novie, or even play on another game system.

So it sounds like there are some enhancements in the Wii U version, but maybe not enough of a difference to really matter?

When I play Skylanders, I really play--actively switching out figures, etc. so this game isn't the sort of thing I'll take advantage of as a "second screen" sort of thing. I do admit that I play my 3DS and my Vita a lot while watching TV--there are very few shows I give my absolute attention to, most of them I just kinda listen to while I'm gaming.

Being able to play a game on the gamepad and watch TV at the same time is a big draw for me, but there's no way to tell right now which games will really support that feature. I've played the Wii U demo unit briefly at my local GameStop, and the only working demo, Rayman Legends, required you to go back and forth between the gamepad and the game on the TV screen, so you can't do two things at once. I don't know if that sort of thing will be specified on the game box, or if we will have to wait for reviews on individual games in order to find out.

Anyway, it sounds like I should stick with the PS3 version for now, since I'll get trophies and can play it now, instead of waiting for a few more weeks. The game is finally arriving on Thursday, just in time for my day off on Friday. . . .

Wii U version specifics from tech demos...

• This is one of the games you will be able to play on just the controller
  
• When not using it alone, the bottom screen will display a version of the Stat menu, and you can click a button on it to go to the Objectives list
  
• You can touch the bottom screen to make Yes/No options as well as the typical way
  
• You can play Skystones with the controller as well as the typical way
  
• It will be buffed to have HD graphics

I'm waiting for the WiiU to get it but before Christmas, however I did buy Giant for the 3DS and have been collecting in the meantime.

Sort of... I'll get to actually use the rest of the Gnarly Bundle for Christmas. Though I'll have already played through the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U versions by then.
