1 - all locked doors can be opened. Just have to find the key, play a Skystones game, push a button, etc...
2 - probably not until the strategy guide comes out on Sunday...
3 - same as Q #2
4 - Yes, he is the only place to get the Luck-O-Tron bulbs you need, certain hats, ALL charms, certain Skystones, some HC's, etc...

If you have chars from S:SA with $65K gold you should be in good shape. Or if you have Wii version and can "farm the treasure chest in the Ruins" you are also in good shape.

For get Hot dogs soul gem after Brock destroys the bridge, push the blocks to get the key. Go to the house next to locked gate. inside will be a locked gate, unlock it and you will get the soul gem.

4. only really the dust if you need a quick upgrade, but on the final level
