So, series 2 Skylanders do unlock brand new Heroic Challenges? That's cool.

That means 24 completely new HC's for characters that can be used in the first AND second game in the franchise!

That would mean...

maybe. but can you play a S2 challenge with a series 1 character? or does it show as completed already if you did it in S:SA.

In S:SA, if you have the 37 characters, you complete 1,184 HCs. (32 HC times 37 characters)

Hey, Grimm, how do you switch upgrade paths on the fly like they mentioned you can do? What button is it on Wii?

I have confirmed just now, that in order to change paths you must go see Persephone and select change path, at that point you can purchase the 3 upgrades that are on the other path.

There is no way to change paths from the stats menu, or at least no way that I'm currently aware of.

Hmm. That's odd. Go into a level and start pressing every button. I assume that when Paul Rieche mentioned you can dynamically switch upgrade paths, it meant you just push a button and it switches.

It would be kind of dumb to make you switch in the hub, because it still defeats the purpose in my eyes.

So far, I guess it's 3 of every character now, not just 2 of Series 2.

EDIT: We know the game uses 3 buttons. On Wii, it's A, B, and Z. Perhaps press the C Button, or maybe 1 or 2?

Can new skylanders and giants switch upgrade paths

It will be awhile before I can upgrade Jet Vac or Tree Rex - I elected to proceed with the game on the Hard level setting, you get very little XP and enemy hits do massive damage. So my new guys keep dying quick, and I'm only to Chapter 4. I have an army of Series 1 Skylanders at Level 10, so they are advancing the game, I've managed to get Series 2 Cynder up to level 11. I am currently uploading a Chapter 1 walk through with Tree Rex, it's about a 12minute video and has taken 4 hours to upload - youtube sucks.

Yes Tree Rex and Jet Vac can switch upgrade paths, they all appear to have that option. It is not however, an option that can be done during game play, you have to go back to Flynn's Ship and visit Persephone. Maybe at some point you can purchase the ability to do so later on. Auric appears in a store on the ship as well as thorugh out the levels and allows you to purchase various things. You can purchase heroic challenges (although the 2 I have purchased so far were from the original 32) and you can purchase skystones, healing power, puzzle keys (to skip the lock puzzles), and battle arenas.

For all of you that keep asking to upload the movies, I'm sorry but, no, you'll have them soon enough. They are very long, and it would take hours to do so with the equipment I have.
