I really hope once the game comes out we know for sure what ALL the "In-Game" variants are.
that way i know what i will need to buy in the future.
am i the only one who can hardly wait to get the complete in-game list of variants?

Why don't you like variants?

I like them, but there-s just too many. last game: 5 ingame variants, next game: more than 12 variants!! I only have 8 skylanders and they-ve already made more variants than caracters i-ve got. theyre just too expensive and were in crisis around here in spain

the new legendaries look epic! I can not wait to have them

I think they're a waste of money. I wouldn't want to spend $10 on something I already have, just in a different color. And Activision is so focused on them. Just think, possibly those variants could be other NEW Skylanders instead of a simple color change.

Anyway, I agree. The only variants that are worth anything are the Legendaries.

Checking out the skylanders list from Skylanders Universe there's a few things to note:
- There is no Winter Whirlwind but there is a "Polar Whirlwind"
- There is no "Dark Ninjini" but there is a "Scarlet Ninjini"
- There's no "Mustard Hot Dog" but there is "Molten Hot Dog"

I'm not sure if these are the proper names for the variants but that's what I can see. There's a few others such as "Jade Flashwing" which exist, probably a few more. Take a look at the club house the next time you log on.

This is a variants list kappa, thats just normal s2 flameslinger. And when on a character it says 100% it means its completely official ( last update was revealed by Skylanders Universe )

The rock variant is more fitting to the skylanders story than the colored normal one. After all weren't they petrified when their where send to earth?

Oh man I really find myself loving that Rock Zook and Whirlwind (Must have but will probably never get) and That Polar Whirlwind too. Goodness, the beauty of them all really.

I'm sorry I love variants I just wish they weren't so darn hard to get ahold of >:C

youre right nintendo it would make a lot more sense but since its a kid game then no logic. still I wouldn't want to collect 32 rocks so maybe its better how it is

dunkin thats a great opinion, i personally like polar whirlwind better than regular. and the fact thsat theyre so damn hard to find m,akes scalpers on evilbay more powerful

budkin: yes these are ingame except for the ones in the OTHER section, those are just toy repaint. still the other are one LONG step to completing your collection

Does anyone know if variants like Granite Crusher show up differently in the 3DS version? (Kinda wanna know before tomorrow so I can make a decision as to whether to buy it or not)

Those rock ones aren't even mentioned in the check list at the beginning of the official Giants strategy guide. All the others are though. XP Why can't they just stick to their own printed list?

I know they will work but will they show up differently (and possibly have different movesets to their original countrrpart)?

nope they are exactly the same xcept colur skin change and maybe better stas. thats everything

So same moveset, different colours and are registered as different Skylanders (sorry, just making sure, still don't know whether to buy the non leg variants or not)

buy them if you want, but if you cant choose wichever you like best. i personally think that granite is best

BTW if this topic gets to page 3 before giants release in 35 mins. I WILL HUG YOU ALL!

3DS tells me, that there are 99 different Skylanders avaible.... so 37 old ones and 62 new ones? Series 2 counts different as Series 1. But 62 news are many at all.

so in the game it also lists the "chase" variants in the "completion list" right?
but they are no different in game other then the word "special" above there name, right?
sooo other then the 5, there are not going to be more chase variants then? (at least none the game will recognize)
thats actually only a few to collect then.
