No figures at my local Walmart today, but they have a new display and empty peg for Giants ($14.96 each), regular skylanders ($9.96 each), and lightcore figures ($11.96 each).

Yeah I knew that was coming because in my local Walmart there was an empty space right above the display screen of SSA

Yeah, same here too. Now on 10/21, I can avoid going to Walmart and hit target for granite crusher and then TRU.

Walmart is still going to put the figures in stock during their midnight release. So you may want to grab some of the figures at your local Walmart

I'd recommend pre-ordering the GITD Starter Pack on Walmart's website as I know if you wait til the 21st then there might not be any GITD Starter Packs on the shelf in stores

I'd still go with just the GITD Starter Pack for the fact that Walmart is going to do a midnight release as they'll be bringing out the characters

I preordered from Best Buy to get all the free crap that comes with it. My 7 year old will like all that (so will my 4 year old). My TRU keeps saying the preorder bonus from them is a Legendary Trigger Happy (which i already have) and they have about 100 of so I thought that was a dumb preorder bonus. Its almost like they were trying to get rid of inventory.

I went to my local TRU today and asked if there were going to be any limits on the 21st as far as how many you can get, etc.... they said so far, they havent heard of any.... They did limit during releases in season 1.... so that was good to hear... although I expect they wont let people buy 50 of the same items, etc. My plan on the 21st is me and my 7 year old will camp out at TRU, get some characters and such, then head over to Best Buy where I preordered and have the game locked in so I can see what they have incase TRU didnt have anything I didnt get... The add on pack with shroomboom is coming out day one too right? The cannon whatever... cant think of name....

You can go to Gamestop website or to one of their stores and pre-order golden cannon battle pack. It's their exclusive. The other stores have the silver version.

Anyone have details on the Walmart midnight release? The closest Walmart to me is not a 24hr Walmart. I located one that is about 30-40 min away, but don't want to drive out there for nothing. Am wondering if the midnight release is for all 24hr walmarts?

I am in Jersey, went two walmarts, and target and TRU . There was nothing. In both walmarts they had boxes that had the giants display and another box that said "don't sell until October 21st" I think they are getting ready to setup the display by tomorrow . Am going to check tomorrow again

I've just preordered the Golden Dragonfire Cannon from EB Games, along with the ones I have in my signature. I'm not sure what to do about my little sister though, because she wants the 3DS starter pack, but we aren't sure we want to have to buy another Cynder if we buy the GITD pack from Wal-Mart. Which do you think is better?

I think you're giving too much credit to Wal-mart employees (no offense to anyone who works at Wal-mart). There are scalpers, yes. But saying that the shelves will be clear? I've told you once, I've told you a million times to stop exaggerating. But I completely understand your withdrawal. Its too much for people sometimes. That's why I'm only concerned with playing the game with my series 1.

The developers will be interested to see how we react to it, how many will still go after all of them, and if people will be content with fewer skylanders. They're wish is to make the general gamer for this game to want to play it with their favorite characters, not 'collect them all, and you if you don't you're a sorry person'. If you're too concerned about getting the variants and the styles and features you want and obsess over collecting instead of playing the game, then I think you're not doing it right, and perhaps you have no real interest in playing the game anyway.

I found his ebay once and was selling a complete closed set for $800 >.< and was selling a Legendary 3 pack for $70 when rereleased

This allows me to do this -

- x3 Punch Pop Fizz (2 open for each upgrade path, 1 sealed)
- x3 Jet-Vac (2 open for each upgrade path, 1 sealed)
- x2 Series 2 Cynder (normal) (1 to use; 1 for my kids to fiddle with)
- x2 Series 2 Cynder (GITD) (1 to display on my Skylanders Shrine, 1 to level up)
- x4 Tree Rex (2 open for each upgrade path, 1 for my kids to fiddle with, 1 will stay in package)

All of the while, I still have one of each version of the game sealed with a GITD Cynder and Portal of Power, as well as a sealed version of the game with a normal Cynder and Portal of Power in it.

I don't like the GITD figures for play, because the characters look too flat. So, I wanted to make sure I had some Starter Packs with normal Cynders, for color.

I was just told by a local Walmart employee that the Skylanders Giants figures would be released on 10-16-12 while the game still has a release of 10-21-12. They were actually getting the display ready this morning for the figures. I hope they actually know what they are talking about. I'm going to check it out tomorrow just in case it is true.

Anyway I went to Best Buy today and they said they had the figures in the boxes in the back but werent allowed to put them out yet, and once again the employee there voluntarily told me he has been buying them, so what can u say. Except there will be empty shelves either tomorrow or next week with employees saying they are out of stock. Heck if I worked at one of those stores Id buy first dibs too. U almost cant blame them.

You know what's awesome? Today at a Target, I actually got to see the Granite Crusher figure in hand. No i didn't take pictures, but I did hold on to the figure in box and the employee said they couldn't sell it. It was cool just to get a sneak peek at what these figures are gonna be like in person.

If you suddenly opened the box would they make you buy it?

All I can say, is if TFB thinks to release series 3 of most Skylanders while only giving us a handful of new characters, I will only buy the new characters from now, no matter how cool the series 3 are.

It's sad when 28 of the 48 Skylanders in Giants have been done before (24 series 2, 4 Lightcore).

I hope that all they do, is release 8 series 2 for the third game (the ones who didn't get a series 2, from series 1), and the rest are new Skylanders.
