Given the current RRPs online it's looking like this year is going to be much more expensive.

Triple packs are now £25 instead of £20
Single packs are now £9/10 instead of £7/8
Battle packs are £25 (Adventure packs were £20)

Then factor in Lightcores, Giants and these new colour variants. I'm seeing Giants for anywhere between £15-20.

So assuming similar formats for selling toys, the cheapest is going to be:

Ignoring Treerex, Cynder and Jet Vac (Punch Pop Fizz is not counted).

Normal:

Triple x 7 = 21 Skylanders = £175
Battle pack x 1 = 2 Skylanders + Cannon = £25
Single x 9 = 9 Skylanders = £81
Lightcore x 8 = 8 Skylanders = £96
Giants x 7 = 7 Skylanders = £105

Legendaries:

Triple x 1 = 3 Skylanders = £25
Single x 2 = 2 Skylanders = £18
Giants x 1 = 1 Skylander = £15 (more likely £20 for Bouncer)

Known variants:

Giants x 1 = 1 Skylander = £15

So ignoring White Whirlwind, red Ninjini and any of the other variants, and including the cost of at least one starter pack.

Total: £559 + £40 (if you bought smart) = £599 ~ £600

If you're buying the GiTD starter pack you're at £65 so roughly £625. If you're also buying the 3DS starter (such as I) you're looking at around £670.

Well I earn £30.00 a week so I set aside 10 of that for my Skylanders collection so I can buy either a new 'Lander (PopFizz, Fright, Chill) or I can buy 2 giants in 3 weeks (I know I might need like £4.00 more or something but oh well)
Hopefully, I'll have enough moneyz for the Legendary Skylanders and for maybe 1/2 normal sized new ones at the start...

That's what I thought but the Legendary Bouncer is £16.99 on the TRU website...so will see if that changes by Friday.

Might have to check the local big Tesco on Friday as well if they get Granite Crusher.

The question was whether or not a Legendary would cost any more than a regular figure. It didn't last year so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it won't this year. The figures are costing more, sure, but it doesn't mean the Legendary ones will cost more than a week figure costs this time around. Also, why are you assuming that Legendary Bouncer will cost an extra £5?

FWIW, I won't be buying any repose figures, any Lightcores, any colour variants or any starter packs. Only need a booster so that's good enough for me. Collectors aside, I don't see the point in the Glow in the Dark figures or portal.

If Legendary Bouncer costs any more then I won't be getting him either.

I went into Exeter Gamestation and they had 24 Crusher, Bouncer and Swarm the guy said they open at 7am on Friday so that's when they'll be on sale. The till scans them up at £14.99!

I just came back from gamestation and they have swarm, crusher and bouncer on display. I was able to hold all of them and I can see that they had a lot in stock

exeter gamestation! i was just there! their all in the window arent they, i wasnt brave enough to ask about prices but glad to hear a confirmed price, i can assume the other prices around that. i just went to the toys r us in exeter and there is NOTHING there, only series one stuff, and a couple tiny bits that say giants are coming, no merchandise, nothing. not even a mention of exclusives, honestly the tesco near there mentioned giants more.
7am friday, if i can sneak out without waking the girlfriend i might go and get some before lectures!

Yep, they were in the window and behind the till. I'm a regular there so I can ask the guys anything they know I have no shame, asking about Skylanders, buying Pokémon merchandise, etc.

Are you at Exeter uni? I graduated a year or so ago what you studying?

I'd recommend going in and asking some point this week. I'll be going at 7am just to make sure I get mine. Exeter really doesn't have that much of a social gaming crowd, so I doubt there'll be loads of people. There were 3 people for the PS Vita's midnight launch, so...

@sequoia spyro haha ive only been there twice since i moved, and one was to pre-order the glow in the dark pack, and i felt like a right doughnut even though the guys were really nice about it and asked if i wanted to pre-order any figures too!
yeah just started at the uni, im 24 though so a bit of a late starter, studying diagnostic radiography, the physics is such a headache! what did you study?
also glad to hear it wont be mega busy, ive moved from a town in which even then skylanders would sell out, so i was a bit concerned now im in a city.

Nothing like taking care of your own public business first and screwing over the retailers who, I would have thought, would've placed larger orders.

Completely off topic but I've just realised how completely out of place this thread is. I thought DS made the toys and merchandise board so all of this goes in there. It just seems weird that he has started the thread and stickied it when it goes against his own rules.

At least the UK pre order thread made sense and it is solely about the game and not the toys.

Basically I think this thread should be renamed Giants toys in the UK and it should be moved to the Toys and merchandise subforum.

I think the assumption is that more people are likely to look here than the merchandise section. I know I would.

Just seen a tweet from my very local GAME store saying we can pre-order figures with a picture of Giant figures in their display cabinet! I might pre-order a couple tommorow depending on price as i'm taking my friend to the optitions

It's not confirmed but we asked as we might struggle to receive a delivery on Thursday due to a hospital appointment and were told they might be despatched Tuesday so we'd get the Wednesday.

Will know more tomorrow hopefully.

Still no news on the tracking on my order - which is strange since it's been a full 24 hours since it was 'dispatched', so it's probably been sitting in some royal mail warehouse for the past 24 hours.

Edit: Actually, now that I check, there is a large section on the iwantiwant website that says 'Picking Bay' - it's probably still with them at the moment then.

bionicle2809 i spoke to the wholesaler this afternoon and they have picked and scanned all iwantiwant orders but none have been shipped yet

Has anyone called their local TRU to see what they are getting in on launch day? I assume we are safe in expecting legendary Bouncer and the Jet Vac/Slam Bam/Ignitor triple but I'd like to know before I pay for the bus

Old Fail Road said they would have Legendaries (didn't specify over the phone). TRU's website has L-Bouncer up but no new L-Triple pack yet.

The toys r us around the corner from my house (colliers wood) said they had everything except the legendaries in....but they said they have others coming in the week....maybe legendaries.

Dunno, best to pop in and see. My local Tesco doesn't stock Skylanders, it's okay though I've got a mate working in a larger store who has promised to grab one for me.

I've contacted my local Tesco (24hr large store) to see what time the game/figures will be on sale. Hoping for midnight on Thursday, so I can head to TRU for 9am opening. Need to find out if the local ASDA (also 24hr) is doing anything. I read earlier this year they were going to have whole aisles dedicated to Skylanders. Never saw it happen for S:SA, so I assume that was actually preparation for Giants.

After seeing this I just started following my local store.

Same message saying I can preorder up to 3 characters with a £5 deposit. And there's a picture of the 3 giants each with a £14.99 sticker. That's excellent news!!

Going over tomorrow morning to put some money down on them.

Play.com prices are fantastic, extremely tempting! Sadly the last few skylanders I had from them were terribly packaged which puts me off.

Will probably be holding off getting any single characters I want (Fright Rider) till they are in 3-packs so I save money.

As long as I get the exclusives on launch I'm quite happy to wait till the sales for everything else. Still hoping to go hunting on Monday.

Dropped in to my local GAME today and they had each of the giants up on the shelves. I didn't want to even touch them as there's another 3 nights to go yet.

They said they're taking preorders on a first come first serve basis and you can preorder up to 3 skylanders or packs by putting down a £5 deposit each.

Sadly because they don't know the exact numbers they're getting in until tonight (when they come in) they can only take your preorder and then they're going to phone around (in order of preorder) tomorrow to ask which three out of what's available to put aside for you.

Aw, Tesco aren't going to let anyone buy the game at midnight, according to my local branch at least. Asda it is!
