Not like Skyrim. I want to see them take the concept Krome had for DoTD (which eventually developed into Legend Of The Guardians) and make that into a future game. Would have been kickbutt.

Keep at it champ. Maybe some day you'll know how to make a proper sentence . I think if it were made open world like DoTD style, art style as the place with hunter and the crippled dude, it'd turn out very nice.

I completely agree with the statement above... |

I feel that if DoTD were to somewhat interconnect the different locations, and make them relate to each other, with nonlinear missions, and well developed plot value it'd be a HIT.

That would be interesting, Imagine having all three worlds,Skylanders, LOS, and Classic with all their characters and villains with sidequests and boss battles.
Now that I think about that, that would be awesome! |

To answer the question, it really depends on the gameplay style for the Spyro game. If it's sort of the "adventure" style of the original games, I'm all for it. I'd even say it could work for the LoS style too. But if they wanted to do a platformer heavy Spyro more in the style of the Digital Eclipse games then I'd so no way, levels are the way to go. Also, the Skylanders style would probably not work that well either, because it's all about level-specific missions. <.<

I thought that the classic Spyro games was kind of like free roaming in a sense, because you had a fairly average sized hub world to adventure in, and you can choose which level you'd like to take first, although you can be limited at first, because in Spyro 2, in Summer Forest, you have to be able to get enough gems to give to 'grumpy greed' to learn how to swim to further levels, and etc. So what we're looking at here is a type of Grand Theft Auto styled game, but it's basically the land of our little GOONRO. And it's not violent, and all that. Why aye!

Open world doesn't necessarily mean sandbox. You can have an open world game (like Skyrim) where you can travel anywhere or a sandbox game (like GTA or Jak II & III) where it's more about doing anything you want in a smaller, yet still open, world. >.>

I think this is a good idea. :3
I'd love a game like this, I've always wanted a Spyro game to be like this. Like, I know the other game have the element of it, but they weren't entirely free-roaming to me. Something like free-roaming Crash: Mind Over Mutant would keep me happy. |

I haven't played Skyrim before, and I feel weird saying it too, as it seems everyone has. X3
Though seeing what everyone has said about it, I'd rather enjoy a Spyro game lit that as well. It would be very fun, as I always enjoy free-roaming games the most. And with DotD, I wouldn't really consider it free-roaming, to me that is. I mean, it is separated into chapters, and when I think of free-roaming I think that you can go pretty much anywhere in the same chapter. You know what I'm saying? |

It could have a map as big as the one on the game FUEL, or at least 1/10 as big.

Unless I've read this wrong, they were going to make a similar thing with Spyro's Kingdom. But sadly, it was scrapped in favor of Skylanders.

100% agree. Id LOVE a fully openworld spyro game.
Go buy Drakan the ancients gates. You get to fly a dragon in an open world land, so it would be similar to that!

Wasn't DotD pretty much free-roam as it was?
I dunno, the games always seemed big enough that I was always happy with the level sizes. |
HIR Diamond Sparx Gems: 9034 |
#47 Posted: 02:51:11 04/11/2012
No, DotD was linear. You pretty much followed a linear path through a series of levels that could be navigated with a map. Free roaming means you can literally go anywhere within the game's world with the option to stray from the story's path if you choose. >.>
