Obviously people who own the first game might say "I'll buy this one since I already have a portal," but what about the other two figures? If you want those, you'll HAVE to buy the Starter Pack and get a duplicate portal. Why don't the other two characters come with the Portal Owners pack?

i think they really messed up with the characters in the starter packs this time around. they should have made there be different characters in the 3ds pack (such as a different repose and maybe a giant that wasnt released at launch) and they should have put all 3 figures in the portal owners pack.

The other 2 figures will be released in single packs too.

*Sigh* Series 2 Cynder and Jet-Vac have been confirmed to be in single. It's old news.

No it doesn't. The Starter Pack is 25 of your Earth currencies more expensive than the Portal Owners Pack. The two figures are worth 20-ish of your Earth currencies together.

Edit: Oh wait, no, it depends where you live. Fine, for most of the world, it's cheaper to buy the Booster Pack with 2 figures rather than the Starter Pack - unless you got it on offer like I did.

exactly. thats why i am getting the starter pack instead of the portal owners pack. not only will i get 2 extra figures but i will also get a spare portal wich i would really like.

I'm only buying the console starter pack because of the wired portal for the Wii. If it weren't for that, I'd buy the portal owner's pack. I'll probably still buy the portal owner's pack for the 3DS game though since I don't really care about Punch Pop Fizz.

I'm getting it to save 10 bucks and buy Frighty or Flashy (which ever one's there) plus I preordered from TRU which guaranteed a skylander toy when I get it so I still get 2 new figures, just not S2 Cynder and Jet-Vac.

I already have a cynder and I'm not getting duplicates. Also, I'm not pushed about jet vac and if I decide I want him, I can buy his single. I would much prefer to save €15 and buy a skylander that I actually want with my money. So, the booster pack is in most ways better for me.

Well,I'm getting the Booster Pack because it's really hard to sell Skylanders stuff in this country,even more loose figures. Not to mention I don't really need Cynder and Jet-Vac,because I already have an Undead Skylander and I'm looking for a Series 2 of the Air element to use in SSA as well.

I'll be getting the Starter Pack despite already having a Portal, but I was just wondering how many people cared about missing the two figures. Cynder I can understand not caring about since it's just series 2, but Jet-Vac is a new Skylander.

I decided on getting the full out Starter Pack. The Portal Owners pack was nice and all, but even with $25 more, that's better than waiting around for Jet to get released in a single (which I DON'T see him being in Wave 1) and Cynder to a lesser extent because I'm still planning on getting 3DS Giants at some point as well. I think getting a whole new Portal is nice as well.

New portals are ALL wired, hence, they don't work wirelessly.
Besides, the Wii does have a USB plug behind it... unless to put your Wii half-way into the wall, you should be good

N. O. P. E. Other than people who REALLY don't want the extra Portal or Cynder and are willing to buy LightCore over regular Jet-Vac and don't care about Pop Fizz everyone will say screw it and pay out the extra however much it cost.

I'm getting the portal owners pack I don't want another Cynder and I don't care for jet vac that much (I do like his backstory tho) I can wait until Christmas to get him he's not on my 1st day hit list

Portal owner pack for me. I have a portal, I have a Cynder, and I don't like JV.

I would assume that more portal packs that are not for the 3DS will sell seeing as how he 3DS version has a variant in game while all the other starter packs have is some stupid glow in the dark Cynder that are he same ingame

It wouldn't be so bad if the 3ds version of the starter and owner pack had completely different figures than just one giant and cynder. I personally didn't think cynder was all that great but I really wanted jetvac. I never played the 3ds version but wouldn't mind getting the starter pack if it had all figures different like last time. Its just a waste to get two tree rex's and cynders. If they were variants then that wouldn't be so bad but still. I think they messed up the placement of characters.

Because people might not want another Cynder. It's cheaper for those (like me) who don't want Cynder again. But for those who want her... they have to buy another portal.

i dont understand why some of you are saying the starter pack is $25 more than the owners pack. The sites im looking at its $15 more in the states. Which means you're getting a second portal, a new skylander, and a series 2 cynder for $15. Seems like the better way to go for me. What I'm wondering is if the portal owner pack comes with perks that arent being mentioned on the package. Or rather, maybe the Portal Owner pack game discs have a special program that gives the player bonuses based on save data from Spyro's Adventure. Its for this unknown reason that I'm waiting to buy either of them. I'll be watching Let's Plays out the butt next week.

For me at first was the POP but then soon changed my mind to the SP as I found out about the wired portal (No more batteries) also get the jet vac ($12 single when it releases) and S2 cynder also another $12 the POP is $58 and the SP is $68 you do the math BTW this will be for ps3

I'm only paying $47.99 US and that free shipping I got a rechargeable battery Pack for PS3 ....so the onwer pack works for me and I'll get the singles skylander that are new beside the giants.

Im getting the starter pack just for the purpose of getting a second portal.... why not have a back up???? now if they have a third game come out... I think I have enough portals by then.... but its always nice to have a spare... the extra fig is nice too.... one less to hunt for later.....

The way I see it:

Portal Owner's Pack is $60.
Starter Pack is $75.

I get a new portal, a S2, a new character, AND a giant? While the Giant is universal, I figured the extra $15 bucks was worth a new portal and two $8 characters.

guys, i know i may sound retardedly optimistic, but I have faith that the makers are going to produce lots more toys than they did for last years release. Scalpers get their hands on variants, but they're going to be more common than last years rarities. Last year, we didnt' know about this many variants because they weren't as plentiful and they are being for this edition. Don't just assume that last years "were the f--- are the toys" is going to happen as bad this year. There will be more toys available methinks.

Totally agree Activision are right on top of it this year they know they are going to make a ****load of cash out of giants

Say what you want about evil Activision, but whenever i see interviews with Paul Reiche, he seems sincerely careful about how he wants the game to progress in the market. He constantly uses the word 'guilty' to describe how he doesn't want to feel when they release new characters for people to buy. He and the development team have had to work on several compromises to make the game what he calls reasonable. And if it weren't for the sound of his voice when he says it, i wouldn't believe him. I think he's trying to make us happy, because I believe that he's the kind of person who does this for a living to entertain people, not just so he can make money. Activision's marketing department though? well...

The Starter Pack will likely sell best even among returning fans, but the big disappointment I think is the spamming of Cynder into too many packs.

All figures in the USA are $9.99 or $9.96 at Walmart. Course if you can get a Target red card and save 5%

Well, I'm buying the Portal Owners pack for the Wii, but my sister is getting the full starter pack for the 3DS. So I'll get all the Starter Pack characters, except for Jet-Vac.

I originally Pre-ordered the Wii Owner's pack to save money but then heard about the corded Portal. That alone sold me. Now that I have it, I am VERY glad I bought it because not only is the cord VERY LONG, it has multi-color changing light base. very PRETTY! (wait, did I just see my 12 year old son roll his eyes at me????)
