So a while ago I was talking to a friend about how hilarious the old Spyro print ads were for the older games. The other day, though I was going through some stuff in my basement and happened across some old Disney Adventures, Nick Mag, etc magazines. And lo and behold, i found a bunch of Spyro ads!

I'm scanning a few of them in. Hopefully they're not too big to break the forums, but I can link them if anyone thinks that'd be better.

First is the oldest one I could find- Spyro Year of the Dragon



EDIT: Ah, perfect. It's a bit hard to read but it says "Can you take the heat?. It's barbeque time. Bentley, the yeti with a mean left hook. Spyro gets totally vert. Get your kicks with Sheila. Danger on the high seas. Things are heating up. Celebrate the Year of the Dragon with Spyro as he joins forces with four new playable critters. Blaze through bigger worlds. Drive tanks, subs speedboats, even launch rockets. Duke it out in a boxing ring or pull off sick tricks on your skateboard. Keep cool. It doesn't get any hotter than this."


#2- Spyro Season of Ice.



"Spyro played here." "Spyro's hotter than ever on Game Boy Advance. With over 20 new levels and 3D worlds, it's big Spyro action in the palm of your hand. Just be careful where you play."


And the last one I got right now, #3- Spyro Enter the Dragonfly



This one is my fav because of the tv ad that had the same thing. That dog getting frozen while peeing was great. Is it me or...does that girl have a striking resemblance to Selena Gomez!?

Anyone have a favorite? Or do you perhaps have an ad you'd like to share?

I haven't seen this ad before, but it's cool. I've got lots of old magazines, and they're a few in there.

Epic ads.

These! I remember these... all except for the Year of the Dragon one, haha. I remember flipping through a magazine in Spanish class in the 4th grade and found the Enter the Dragonfly add. Now I want to play it again.

Maybe I'll make the Season of Ice my wallpaper. xD

I hope there's a Season of Flame floating about somewhere... and StD one.

Those ads are better than the ones in the UK.

I have a few and a new one is shipping to me... I also have some promotional lisenced sheets, one for SoI and one for RRP I think.

Holy crap! I remember that first one! I think that's the picture I used to think of whenever I thought of Spyro when I was little.

Ha, these adds are awesome! I never even knew these existed. Wonder what an add for the Spyro/ Crash crossover would look like?

It's difficult to see, but I noticed that Crash Bandicoot is in the background for the Season of Flame add. He's at the top-right corner.

Actually a lot of these ads had a Crash Bandicoot one somewhere else in the magazine or on the opposite page. That's pretty cool haha

Rarg. My scanner is acting funny. Sorry guys. I did find something else in another magazine. It was for Enter the Dragonfly and had the same ad, but the next page was a small ad for it made by Nick Mag. They had a few different pictures of Spyro using his different breaths. I was pretty cool, so if I can find that again, I'll scan that in for you guys!

EDIT: hurf, finally worked ok. Didn't quite get his face to line up due to the page crease and how the book is stapled, but it's alright.

Headbutts? Huh... if I didn't know better, I'd say that they were foreshadowing Ripto's Rage.

Oh Insomniac. ^.^ (They ended up one-upping themselves with the early "weapon demo" adds for Ratchet & Clank though). Can anyone find a commercial for retro Spyro? <.< >.>

These are great, thank you so much for sharing them. There's so much Retro Spyro stuff that needs reviving.

I haven't seen any "new" ads in any of the magazines I've been pulling out of my basement, and our cleaning has kind of gotten to a standstill so I really haven't been looking at all anyways.

Today though I was going through another tub and found a Toys R US magazine for the holidays. Inside, there was a full page ad for the GBA Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs game. (ironically, I actually found the box for this game in my basement too..now if only I could find the actual game....)

I love how the Rhynocs are all rendered in low polygon look, kind of like how they appeared in the PS games.
