^Well of course that makes a lot of sense. It may be Ok at the age you have now, but that age, I can tell it can be very scary for little kids. When I meant dark I thought of games like Paper Mario TTYD. I loved that game, but some parts were pretty dark smilie

I've never played TTYD. What do you mean?

Well yes, as strange as it sounds, new villains in the Mario series are most of the time better than Bowser himself. Grodus... well, he was a villain,
but the main one was the Shadow Qween remember?
Dark character that was, and the story too. But yes, new villains somehow manage to be cooler than Bowser. Like Fawful for example. I heard that he became a favorite among many fans.

Grodus was the main antagonist. The Shadow Queen was essentially a "sealed evil mad god in a can", which describes extremely powerful final boss characters who do not make an appearance until you fight them. >.>

Yeah, but the Shadow Queen was the main reason of everything that was happening in the game. It's like
M&L Partners in Time. Princess Shroob was causing a lot of trouble, but then it is discovered that she was just following her big sister's wishes, making Elder Princess Shroob the true main antagonist, and her sister a secondary antagonist.

^Yes, but Zelda is suppose to be more darker than Mario. Although kids play it, Mario is the more suitable when it comes to children... although there are several games that can get too far.

^What? That game was too dark for you? Well, I don't know the reason (maybe because of the blorbs?), but if you play PiT (Partner's in Time), you will see that it's one dark game, much more than BiS. The boss's soundtrack is one of my favorites. It's both creepy and sad. It is one very unique game this one smilie

^Yeah, and that game is in fact the prequel to BIS. The both come from a Mario trilogy;

1) M&L Superstar Saga (GameBoy Advance)
2) M&L Partners in Time (Nintendo DS)
3) M&L Bowser's Inside Story (Nintendo DS)

One of the best trilogies in gaming if you ask me, and I have played plenty of them. All three games are excellent in their own unique way smilie

Yeah, PiT is quite dark for a Mario game. It's my least favorite in the trilogy though, since there's hardly anything to do once you beat it. smilie

I got my copy of it off eBay and File 1 had all four Bros at Level 99 with most of the beans and a good bunch of the items. smilie I did start a new file, though, and it was good to play through.

#170 Posted: 13:53:34 02/08/2012
Yeah, I admit it was quite dark for a Mario game. It has a bizarre story as well. Despite that I enjoyed the game a lot. Playing as four different characters was sure fun. From the three games in the series, I think it has the best puzzles and gameplay if you ask me. And that final boss music (well, the true final battle actually)
Man, that was beyond epic. Just listen to that music smilie

^Well, now that makes a LOT of sense. That's something I didn't research. KH soundtrack is really awe-inspiring. Just like Zelda, I am recently starting to play that series as well... oh but the controls are so hard to adapt to...

But getting back to that Mario soundtrack, who said that Koji Kondo is the one with all the masterpiece? So that means that the person who composed that song also composed the final battle in Bowser's Inside Story. That is yet another epic soundtrack. That's talent smilie

Yoshi's Island was a fantastic game. The only reason I like the first Super Mario World more is because it's longer. But Yoshi's Island had more of an emphasis on unique platforming gimmicks and exploration of colorful 2D levels. >.>

Super Mario World may be longer, but Yoshi's Island was much harder, and thus, making it feel longer. The childish background and cheery music, plus the fantastic gameplay makes this game beyond epic smilie

It was really well done because every level brought with it new and different type of platforming challenge. Some of the challenges were later reused in later levels, but the gimmicks weren't used so frequently that they got stale. Everything was innovative.

At first, I thought it was a kids-oriented game, but that's not the case at all. Even long-time players can have trouble completing this game. It surely gets harder and harder by the level. Oh, and that final boss is so intense, and that incredible music makes it even more smilie
