How much are you willing to pay? [CLOSED]

We're all familiar with scalpers and overinflated prices for Skylanders figures. And, in most cases, those $40 wham shells and $30 dark spyros sell! Even recently, a full set of 4 sidekicks sold for $510.

So what's your limit? How much are you willing to pay for a skylander?

For those outside the USA, how much are you willing to actually pay for a full set of sidekicks?

I would pay no more than $10 for an individual, $20 for a Three Pack or $25 for the Legendaries, and $20 for an adventure pack. I'm not paying anymore than retail.

I'd not pay over $9.99 for any single figure in the line. (or whatever giants will cost). The figures will be out in mass retail sooner than later, and paying over for something is not only dumb, but it encourages scalpers. If they don't sell; they won't buy more. Which in turn leaves more for players to buy at the stores.

As for variants...I don't know. Thus far, I haven't bought any online. I don't think I'd spend up to $100 on it. Somewhere around maybe $50, $75 for it. That would be at an absolute maximum, and only if it was something I really wanted. That Chrome Spyro looks tempting but. eh.

The most I've spent on a variant is $225 for my Chrome Spyro and regulars, $80 for my Empire of Ice set. The Slam Bam ended up having a unique base though... Possibly a beta base, so I don't mind paying so much since it might sell for something if this franchise gets more popular.

The absolute most I've ever paid for a Skylander is $180 for Toy Fair Cynder. 130 for E3 Spyro is second. Waiting on a Pearl Hex to come along that has an accessible price, and then that will be my highest. For regular figures... $10 at TRU for Legendary Trigger Happy and $25 for Dragon's Peak would be pretty much it for me. Have never had trouble finding the toys, either online or in person, so I haven't had occasion to pay scalper rates for anything that can be found in retail. Convention exclusives are Vhraina's and my exception.

Most I payed was $25 for the Legendary Three Pack. The rest I got for the normal price or $8-10 for singles or $20 for triples. I'm not buying anymore, I had the chance to get a WERDS at Wal-Mart but passed up on it because I just don't want to spend any more money on this game. I'm not getting Giants because of how much money I spent collecting all the figures for Spyro's Adventure. My wallet can't take it again, lol.

We don't have any Toy Fairs, E3, Frito-lay and the like and only have a handful of stores that even stock the regular Skylanders. So we are stuck with on-line suppliers and ebay here in Australia.

I personally have no issue paying a little more to obtain things that will never be sold here. Spending quality time with my kids is priceless.

Once my sidekicks arrive I will have all 70 odd characters/items/levels that were listed here http://blog.pricecharting.com/...e-list.html?m=1

Just need to put them in some decent shelving with led lighting.

Don't get me wrong, I am more than happy to buy overseas but the only one of the 37 I did not see was Legendary Trigger Happy (being a TRU exclusive and Oz TRU being so useless). I have also found a fair few variants here, which I did not initially expect.

Then obviously you're in a lucky spot to have found three glow in the darks and two golds. We do not even get variants or the freaking Legendaries in Melbourne anymore.

And GameMasters, pff, one, I don't think they have Skylanders there, two, they probably wouldn't be giving a variant for it or we would have seen it by now, and three, not everyone can afford to go to it, when they have to pay for their own 3DS XL, Wii U, and every single Skylander they buy. smilie

That is why I put GameMasters at the bottom of the list.

However, I know of several people in different states who found multiple glows so I think the randomisation of that failed to some degree.

Anyway, the point was that you can readily find the standard figs without too much duress.

But my original point, before the variants were even bought up by me, is that they're far too expensive here. I wouldn't give half a damn about variants if the figurines were the same price as in the USA- Activision can easily afford the losses. The figurines are half the price extra here and it's ludicrous. The variants only aid that point by adding on that they aren't even doing their job reliably.

The fact that JB Hifi, Target and Big W can sell figs for $10-12 and still make a profit demonstrates that the wholesale link in the chain is probably not at fault.

I see your point, though, I was happy to pay "scalping" prices for some things as that guaranteed I would get it and the overall cost, even including shipping, was not much more than Oz retail.

The gaming industry in Oz is over-priced in general so that is why I generally buy from the UK or find a good local deal to at least parially compensate for wanting the item now (hello, Lego Batman 2).

Overall, I prefer to live in Oz and wear the cost of overpriced non-essentials so I can live in paradise. Disclaimer, you mentioned Melbourne so I see your point... ツ
