Anyone happen to know if we'll be able to preorder the initial characters this time around? With the success of the first and the pain of trying to find Skylanders, I don't think it would be a half bad idea.

Might not be a bad idea, but I am hoping that it wont be a problem this time around.

I think its the only sure fire way to cut down on scalpers. I mean higher production will help out, but preordering would guarantee you get what you want without worry. Hoping they entertain the idea.

Well I'm hoping they flood the market with figs. once Giants comes around but if they do offer pre-orders on the new figs. I will definitely go that route.

If they did exclusive Skylanders for each retail outlet (Best Buy, Amazon, Gamestop, etc.), the amount of backlash and scalping would be amusing to watch.

It's a nice idea, but at what cost. How easy is it to sign up multiple emails or credit cards and use them to preorder a ton of them. There'd obviously be limits, but that goes back to multi-accounts to do so. If people are stalking stores for them to resell, imagine if they could do that from their own home.

Rather, they need to have a ton of them out in the market. And I'm sure that's what they'll be doing, since they see what's happened now. They really weren't prepared for this at all.

Preordering would give them an idea on a production number, "we have x amount of preorders for this character, we need y amount produced to satisfy preorders and in-store demand". It can't hurt to have a minimum number in mind of what needs to be produced of said figures. It won't stop scalping, but if scalpers know everyone has a chance to get figures it might deter them from purchasing in bulk.

Took my daughter down to my local TRU yesterday. They are taking pre-oreders for Skylanders Giants now, ready for October release.

Yeah so is EB Games Australia they say it comes out on October 1st

Didn't GM bring this up awhile back. I think he said GameStop would be doing this. Not to sure but I think it was GameStop. I really hope this is true just in case I miss any. I plan to pick up the game from GameStop get a few figures then run to walmart which is right by it. Then maybe best buy it who knows. Anyways I think it is a great idea and I hope they do it for the figures.

It was Gamestop/EB Games. They let me preorder individual Giants and LightCore Skylanders.

I bought a few preorders off of eBay for about $18 each (Darn scalpers..)

EB Games here says they're going to allow pre-orders of characters when they get a definitive list, so keep an eye out at their affiliant, GameStop.

Eeyup. This is my local one, I don't know if yours are different, or if I may be thinking about something else. Also I'm getting the Wii U one, and there's no date on that, sooo... But we can trust this store. The guy gave me a list of 3DS games and accessories, two years ago, and it and all miscellaneous news was 100% right. I just don't know if I'm remembering that tidbit correctly.

And if it interests you the Wii U console is probably coming out on December 10 and all preorders for it, games and accessories are GARUNTEED!

Ugh I hope the wii version of giants works on the wii u. I think my wii is busting, suddenly wifi isn't working and one game keeps freezing. I believe TRU is doing a free shipping thing if you preorder a game this week though. And I do hope GameStop will take preorders for figures. Not gonna run through the little store just to grab as many as I can, then again I don't think a lot of pwople will show up.

All Wii games work on Wii U, as long as it has USB ports, it definetly will, and the Portal too. I don't see a reason for them to remove USB slots, so don't worry too much.

Yeah im not sure whether to get Giants for Wii U or PS3 oh and hopefully there gonna do good pre orders on Skylanders Giants and New Super Mario Bros. U

I've already pre-ordered giants. Will ask on sat if they're gonna take pre orders on characters as well. I would think that they would as you could do it with the original skylanders at TRU.

My local Gamestop is NOT taking any preorders for figures...
