This probably beecause Best Buy may be going out of business.

Hope they do this with giants.

Best Buy is fine. They closed 50 stores and are converting stores to "mobile" stores. In other words, they're getting rid of "big box" stores, which means they just won't have tons of product on display.

The latest Best Buy to open (new stores are opening still so they're fine) October of last year - here - is a mobile (or connected) store. It's like 500 square feet smaller than the biggest store in this city, which closed so this one could open. So smaller stores are still decent in size.

I think it is just to get rid of the skylanders. There are so many at BB it scary.

My BB don't usually even have many Skylanders. God Forbide a WHAM SHELL at that.

I doubt its because they are "going out of business". This seems like one of many final attempts to plug the first game before Giants comes out this holiday season. TRU recently held a sizeable sale on their Wii Skylanders.
Once giants comes out, stores are going to have a surplus of "Spyro's adventure". So retailers need to sell as much as they can while the game is still relevant.
