The difficulty levels of Giants are explained by a spokesman: http://www.theverge.com/gaming...fficulty-levels

Skylanders Giants, the sequel to last year's popular Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, will include three difficulty levels and possibly a fourth unlockable "nightmare" or "legendary" mode, an Activision representative told Polygon.

In addition to the Easy, Normal and Hard standard difficulty modes, a spokesperson at the presentation said "a nightmare mode or legendary mode will be unlocked if you finish [the game]." The spokesperson clarified that they weren't sure if the additional, more punishing difficulty level "has been finalized yet."

Bringing the new info on this page, just in case no one saw it.

This is becoming like the inter-testamental period.

After Malachi the prophet spoke (last book of the Bible) there were approximately 400 years of silence before John the Baptist (the figurative returning Elijah) came and spoke the Word of God again.

In that time of silence, folks came out with some really odd and off the wall stuff. I think it had to be a pretty frustrating time. Book of Enoch anyone?

Anyway, that's somehow remotely how I feel checking in here... like comparing an iota to Jupiter, but nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure I'm walking out now. The Giants game looks exciting, but I can't hump over the fact that there is so much more money spending involved. This is definitely turning into a game for avid collectors and rich families (no offense to anyone), and I just don't fit either category. I'm going to buy the rest of the series 1 that I don't have, including Leg. TH, and that's it, I'm done. I may buy Giants later on, maybe next year after it drops in price a little, but I'm not going to rebuy series 2, or collect new characters. It's just too expensive.

All games that haven't had an official release date on Gamestop have got the date set to the 31st of December - it's because that it the last possible release date for a 2012 game release (because it's the last day of the year).

Activision may look into a Skylanders movie and TV show in the future!

http://www.videogamer.com/xbox...activision.html

Activision's product specialist Noah Kircher-Allen revealed that Skylanders "was a long-term franchise" for the publisher, and that the series could also extend into comic books and "Halloween costumes.

"Skylanders is a long-term franchise, so you can imagine all sorts of cool new stuff coming out," Kircher-Allen said. "Everything from Halloween costumes to books to comic books.

"As far as film or TV is concerned, we don't have anything officially set for that yet, but obviously that would be something I could see Activision looking into in the future."

Spoke to my son (who turned 6yo today). He's happy to sell all his Series 1 figures to fund the Series 2 versions. We'll keep the Series 1 figures that aren't reposed for Series 2, but we see no reason to keep the originals as the Series 2 versions are just the same with some added extras in game.

It's a nice idea Wesley but series 1 figures will be worth less than nothing when series 2 comes out... the better option is to sell them as soon as possible... either that or wait until series 1 have been discontiniued long enough that they could go back up in price because new collectors will want "a complete collection". But that option is risky because they may never go up in price.

Considering that there are two versions of the game (Starter pack and portal owners pack) I wouldn't be surprised if they did release the starter pack characters in single packs too - maybe not Tree Rex but Pop-Fizz, Jet-Vac and Cynder.

@spyrodadragon: My theory was that given Pop will be basically a "3DS Exclusive", it makes sense to me that they may have him in a LightCore variant. That way if someone wants it, they can pay more for it to have him.

Also because we don't know of a LC Magic yet, and that's as good a guess as any.

Also, cool stuffs that the Adventure Pack pieces will still work. I hope they make the levels a bit different though, and not just the same exact one copy pasted over.

Yeah, that was my thinking. I'm not trying to really get any gains of collecting these toys. If I had, I probably would have never taken them out of their boxes. But any comic book geek can tell you that the most valuable thing a franchise has is its first series. Series 1 Skylanders will be sold for the rest of 2012, and then never again. Perhaps the old poses will be the ones that will be 'hard-to-find'.

I highly doubt they will sell till the very end of 2012. Most likely the will stop sending out skylanders in October. But then again some people won't buy giants so they could do that. Guess we will have to wait and see.

In my opinion, they will sell Series 1 figures up till they have 50% of the series 2 figures released. Then they will drop series 1 production.

wait... where is this notion that they will stop making series one skylanders coming from? activision confirmed officially that they will continue making series one (given the cost to create the molds for each toy, that's not surprising). the only statement faun sees about discontinuing it looks like just one person who leapt to a strange conclusion based on...nothing faun can see from any official source. did faun miss something?

Why would they keep selling the series one figs come Giants though? The new reposes have a bigger advantage over the current figs, so no one is going to buy them. It's just pointless for Activision and Toys For Bob to do it.

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but they won't keep making series 1 forever. Whether they stop making them by the end of the year or in 10 years... they will eventually stop making them.

As yet afaik there is no confirmed date for the discontinuation of series 1... but it will happen some day. There just can't be enough demand to justify producing them forever.

We're selling as soon as we know the full list of Series 2 characters and he's levelled all of his Series 1 to 10. Hopefully that will be before Giants is released. I'm hoping to get £3-4 per figure.

Series 1 production has to end within 12 months I would think. Pretty sure they won't have enough presses to make those and Series 2 (the expensive bit that led to them not being able to satisfy demand) and surely retail won't give over shelf space to the old figures.
