How long have you played Spyro? [CLOSED]

I love asking random questions. Anyways, how long have you played Spyro games for? For me It's from 1999-present (13 years). I remember logging so many hours on the original trilogy. One of my controllers broke because of it, from the trolley/Agent Zero mission from Spyro 2 RR/GTG smilie smilie (yeah, I had anger issues with video games back then, still kinda do).

Sorry for so many edits. I'm a grammar freak, I guess.

The first Spyro game I played was Spyro 2 when I was about 4-5. It didn't really interest me so I didn't play a Spyro game again until I was about 9-10 when I played TEN. TEN really interested me so I decided to play ANB afterwards. I then of course played DotD when it came out. I have been playing TLoS ever since. Skylanders' price made me not want to play that.

Edit: for clarity

I've been playing Spyro for fourteen years.
I originally got the demo for the first Spyro game in 1998, then I got the demo for Spyro 2 in 1999, after that my Mum bought me Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer as a Birthday present in 1999. Furthermore, got ETD in 2002 and then I got both full versions of Spyro 1 & 3 in 2003. Afterwards, I got A New Beginning in 2007, Dawn of the Dragon in 2008 along with A Hero's Tail, Eternal Night in either late 2009 or early 2010. And finally, I borrowed Season of Ice some time in 2010.

I mainly play the first three Spyro games, and A Hero's Tail.

For almost 10 years.
I was on holiday and in the house was a Playstation and Spyro YoTD. I loved dragons and the color purple so I played it and loved it, even if I found it hard. That was in 2002, just after my 3rd birthday smilie Then I found Spyro The Dragon while watching TV that year or the next year. It was on the shelf and was brand new. Then I got Gateway To Glimmer as a present. And I got YoTD. So by the time I was 5, I had all the Insomniac games. Then when I was 4 or 5 I got Enter The Dragonfly and when I was 6 I think I got A Hero's Tail. I got A New Beginning for Christmas when I was 7 as it had just come out. Then not long after, when I was 8 or 9 I got The Eternal Night on the PS2 and then soon after I got it on the Wii. Then one or two years ago I got Dawn Of The Dragon, as I'd wanted it since 2008.

As for other games, I got a Gameboy Advance SP when I was 8 or 9 as I wanted a DS but I couldn't have one and I got all 4 of the Gameboy games. And when I finally got a DS for Christmas I got ANB and TEN, and then one or two years ago got Shadow Legacy.

I tend to play the classics (STD-AHT) and occasionally the spin-off games, not so much TLOS though.

I've basically written my entire history of Spyro. The end smilie

When Shadow Legacy came out. I then bought all of the previous games except for the first 3 as I don't have a PS to play them on. I also went on to buy all of the TLoS and Skylanders.

Wow, you're a late newcomer, and you want to get interested in a franchise that's quite old now? Dedicated, lol.

My first time was in 2001, but back then I only played the first. Spyro The Dragon. Unfortunately over time forget this game franchise.
Over the years I played their demos through the Crash Bandicoot games. And played by my friends, with the PS2, for the exclusive games of Spyro.
And until two years ago was that I returned with Spyro and know their other games. Finding out that there is a Spyro game for the Xbox and one for the Xbox 360. After downloading the emulators for PS1 and now I have to get the CDs, because Internet downloads are damaged and I can not complete them 100%.

When you play any of the first three Spyro games, do you get that lovely feeling of nostalgia? The feeling of "Oh I remember this level, it's so cool" and "Oh no, not this level, I hate this one!" Because that's how I feel when I replay an older game that I played from the past.

Yep, most definitely. I used to get stuck in levels such as Haunted Towers, Tree Tops and the last part of the Gnasty Gnorc boss level. Nowadays, I know the locations of every dragon off by heart and how to overcome certain obstacles. smilie I think I remember having a purple Spyro CD case, it might be still in my younger sister's room (I used to share it with her).

It's really great fun when you know where everything is and what to do, it makes you feel so badass at the game, lol. But sometimes I wish it was back in the days when it was all new to me and I didn't know what was going to happen next, I miss that feeling with the Spyro games, you see, if Insomniac could still develop them the same way like on the PS, then I'd still get that great feeling I did with the classics. Was the purple case a special edition?

Unfortunately, things can't return to the way they are back then and I hate it when most things evolve as the years go by. Most likely the only thing I hardly know every location of are the gems 'cause it's hard to remember every spot of each gem. smilie I'm not sure 'cause I don't know whether the purple CD case came with either of the first three Spyro games or my family got it separately. Sure, I'm glad and utterly excited that Girls Aloud is planning on making a long-awaited, highly-anticipated comeback later on this year but I want old-school Spyro to do the same. Too bad that's just a fantasy that will never happen. smilie

Wow, you got into the Spyro series pretty late then, considering that you only play the Classics. I don't think I've seen a younger person on here that thinks that the Classic series is the best. Normally, I see that they're neutral to all three series, or they like LoS, or just Skylanders.
