Ah. $14.99 isn't too awful. Giants are about double the size, so you'd assume double the price. Arguably, the sculpts look great, so..that's good.

This is kind of a dilemma though for people who intend to buy the 3DS version, as well as another. That's $150 out of the gate on the 2, and you're going to already have 2 extra characters. (an extra Tree Rex and an extra Series 2 Cynder)
They really should have just packaged a different Giant with the 3DS version, or in the least, 2 different figures so you don't end up with all these extras.

I'm curious as to what we'll see on day 1? Ideally, I'd like to see singles of Bouncer and another Giant, remodels for a handful of the characters (including Cynder) and Pop Fizz along with another random new 'lander.

Do you think they'll do staggered release dates again
Also, I wish preordering gave you the option to cutstomize your starter with the characters you want.

Crusher's eyes and shoulder gems are clear plastic, similar to Tree Rex when he isn't on.
I think he may be lightcore based on that design (especially the eyes), even though he isn't lit up.

n-Space themselves confirmed that they are developing the 3DS version of Giants.

No, in the video it appears much smaller than the other giants, but right on par with the regular figures. So, it's probably the Undead regular character.

faun hopes there will be a female giant or two. also, faun hopes the undead drow riding the skeleton bird is female, but it's hard to tell with that one blurry look at them.

They should make more female characters in general. They've made a good start, but they need more. A 50/50 split would be ideal.

Something called an "Upgradeatron" will be linked to collectibles, but Toys For Bob wasn't ready to elaborate on exactly how this new feature will work.

Elemental Gates are back though with a slight design tweak that has them dynamically pop up when you get close. The areas behind an Elemental Gate are either small or, new to Giants, extremely large. One example shown of an Undead Elemental Gate area stretched way into the background.

Look for puzzles and locks to return in Giants along with a new game that resembles a tic-tac-toe board. This game requires players to claim as many tiles as possible, but the opponent is able to steal tiles all the same. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see this mini-game in action but Toys For Bob seemed pretty excited about it.

Also returning are Heroic Challenges under the new name of Arena Challenges. Outside Story Mode is a new adversarial mode that requires opponents to try to knock each other out of a ring.

The video featured here has a pretty good walkthrough of a level.

In it, we can see a few things:
-One of the missions involves finding something called "The Hermit"
-New Chompie plant spews poison stuff
-Elemental Gates are more profound that the ones in Adventure. You can see them (as Bouncer) go to the gate, which rises up to prevent access. The design is totally different too.
-Looks like when you put a character on the portal, there's a new animation which also shows the action art for the character, before their model.
-Giants can bust right through the Bomb Doors
-There's new points called "Ambush" in which Minions come after you. (In the video, a group of 3 Stealth Elf Minions come) Looks like they now have new animations for them; the Decoy thing where Stealth teleports has a black cloud of smoke for the Minions.
-Looks like there's a whole lot of multiple paths, potentially some "hidden" ones, like that invisible Life Gate from Adventures. (that one you have to go down to get the Treasure? You know the one)
-Pop Fizz's "Havok" form (I'm just calling it that lawl) has a time limit. Looks like a bar similar to Gill's water jet thing, so there's probably going to be an upgrade which makes you able to play as that form for longer.

Do we know yet if series one skylanders can open series 2 gates yet? Or have the pulled a rip off move and made it so only series 2 remodels/characters can open the gates?

Skylanders on Facebook just posted a facebook exclusive video, with a walkthrough of a level. (The one that I posted about in another thread)

LightCore Skylanders have a special attack, when placing them on the portal and arriving in game, they have a huge light blast that takes out enemies.

Apparently, there's some new Upgrade feature as well. When he grabs the Legendary Treasure (the "Wheel of Power") it says "Deal 5% more damage with all attacks when used in the Upgrade-A-Tron".

So, the Legendary Treasure (or special items?) must help you increase your stats. I'm guessing here, but that probably means they've done away with Callie's Challenges.

EDIT:
Looks like we can confirm Pop Fizz's attacks. You can switch potions; one is red, which makes a firey explosion, Green makes little pools of acid, and purple summons mini potion creatures. You're also able to combine them too!

That would be sad I like the Challenges, but if they did that then how do the new characters increase their stats to max, because 5% is nothing, that is the equivalent of putting on a cheap hat.

I finally got to watch it. I wasn't all that exited for the remodels before, but after seeing Cynder's new attack I'm more exited for them then the new ones. I'm really exited to see what new attack Spyro and my other favorites may get.

couple of questions. will the lightcore skylanders ALSO get a redesign? and since all reposes will work on SSA, will reposed legendary slam bam and ignitor also work?

Prism Break and Eruptor have new poses. Prism Break was in his original pose at the toy fair, but now has a new pose


The new legandaries are a good question... but you might as well assume that they won't work in the original game since legendaries are counted as different characters.

I looked closely at the red Skylander and it is not a red pop fizz. Look at the red guys wrist. It has something like straw, pop fizz has chains. And judging. Y the platform of it I think it's an undead Skylander or earth. Can't really tell because it looks like the base slants.

^ Yeah, I noticed that too but it looks like it's posed in the same position as Pop Fizz and holding a glass test tube. It might not be a test tube though, it could be a figure holding up a crystal or a staff with a crystal at the end of it. Your guess is as good as mine.

Edit:

If it's a new Skylander and not a remodeled one, it must be a fire or tech character because those are the last elements which we haven't seen a character for yet or seen in that picture.

Edit 2:

I want to say that it's a fire character due to his coloring (If you look closely, you can see some yellow and orange coloring between Terrafin's arm and something that could be a fire base between Terrafin's legs).
