With no info on the rarity of these new special treatment, collectors will definitely pay that premium price. What is sad that instead of some guy making huge amounts of money from this one figure, Activision can make tons of money on these by making them in huge numbers and actually sell them in retail for crazy prices.

I've been stores completely stocked with skylanders and I have yet to even come accross these varrient and the only place I see them is eBay how do we know they aren't special characters only given to friends and family of people who helped with skylanders? I've never even see a photo of one hanging off a shelf in a retail store?

Yeah I'm pretty a huge percentage of the people selling these gold and silver ones are store employees.


there is one uk seller that has had several pearl and metallic variants and always has golds and silvers. the same seller has told me he is expecting some crystal variants next week ... no way this happens without some sort of insider trading going on

I'm sure that is the case. The person must be working higher up in the retail chain to be able to "expect" a stock of these.

I do pray for the day when Activision would just say "Hey let's make an exclusive or limited edition silver, gold and clear triple pack and sell it to the masses for 2 or 3 times the price". I won't mind paying the extra premium for the figures as long as I'm not giving my money to the employees who are picking these item out of the lot from the stock room.

I can't believe someone actually spent that much on a clear Wham Shell. I'm hoping they presented an offer and the seller accepted it. I just can't imagine.

I agree. Hasbro makes variants for Marvel Universe, but they aren't stupid hard to find. This means more money to Hasbro. I don't know why Activision/TFB don't make more of each variant, in order for collectors to get them. It's just more money in the pockets of Activision/TFB.

Oh, well. They don't like money.
