Real or not it still begs to wonder why we have only seen One of these... the grainy video of the unwraping in which you can clearly see the box already open (not a good thing, but doesnt mean its not real) and now one on ebay, which could possibly be the same one... and if it is, then there is only one? makes no sense right now... hopefully TFB will have an answer...

Given that the official word since day dot was the Dark Spyro was a 3DS exclusive, they would be shooting themself in the foot in a major way if they reneged that.

I am not saying it is impossible, simply that expected income would have to rationally outweigh the expected blow-back from such a move...

It's possible they are so rare, because there aren't many of them to begin with, and they are exclusive Singapore TRU. If we had a member from Singapore, then that would also help a lot on getting clarification. What about the clear photo which looks like all the other photos for the Skylanders singles we do know about? I could see a person putting time into making a fake box to try to cash in, but then professionally setting up a photo shoot for the toy? That costs a lot more money than faking cardboard and plastic packaging. I pulled up the image in Photoshop as well, and nothing suggest it's a manipulation. It's a real photo of a toy, but that of course doesn't mean it's a photo of a fake.

I'll keeping looking for more information while we wait for answers. Maybe more people have this, but have only posted on Singapore based sites.

Skylanders are huge (nothing anybody doesnt already know), let alone a Spyro figure... your first sentence saying "It's possible they are so rare".... you think it would sell more than fifty bucks. Not saying your wrong, but if it was real and that collectible, you think they woulda started the bidding at something ridiculously high.

$50 was the buy it now option. Could be that the seller doesn't expect to get more than that(dark spyro comes in the 3DS version after all, which also costs less than $50 at the moment).
Also, even if there was no buy it now option, or it was much higher, then people are going to remain skeptical, since it's a country exclusive atm. I have no proof it's real, and I have no proof it's fake, but I have seen the exact same scenario while collecting LPS toys. China got lots of exclusive that never came to the U.S., but were real figures. When they finally started hitting eBay, all stateside collectors questioned whether they were real, or factory prototypes. After awhile, more and more popped up, and Hasbro eventually confirmed they were legit. It just took time for news to travel from Chinese collectors over to stateside collectors.

Yeah I get what your saying. I'm not trying to prove you wrong at all (being as were both unsure if its authentic). People who seem to have the rare stuff go crazy tryin to sell it way more than whats its worth, especially if its the only one on ebay . Just trying to piece together if its real or not.

I'd like a packaged Dark Spyro as much as the next guy, but I don't think I'd be ready to pay $50 for one.

I would (and did) go for the 3DS version, which not only is $35 at TRU right now, but comes with D-Spyro, Ignitor, Stealth Elf, game, and a non-battery-draining portal. And for roughly the cost of the figures themselves.

Just sounds like he is unsure, not that he's officially calling these figures fakes. Anyway, if they are fake, and the eBay guy and kid are really two different people, I hope they start looking into which TRU is doing shady business in Singapore.

Yes, you could get Dark Spyro in a 3DS pack for that.

However, a collector would pay a lot more to get one MIB so a rational seller would have tried for more - if they did not get it then they could have lowered their expectations.

why are we even questioning if its fake or not dark spyro is 3ds exclusive and most likely will never see a single pack release unless they release him as a redesign when they release giants which i still think they will ever make him a single pack.

I've just realised. Everyone who's said they can get it in stores has been from Singapore, but was the 3DS starter pack ever released in Singapore? If not, maybe that's why. Maybe they're starting to release Dark Spyro on his own in countries that didn't get a 3DS release for whatever reason.

It doesn't really matter if it's fake or not. If the packaging is identical to the regular Skylanders characters and not a shoddy, pirated knockoff, then it's still going to be a valuable collector's item. Perhaps even more valuable. The same way that Harry Potter and Leopard Walk-Up to Dragon is fake, but doesn't come cheap. I'd probably get one of these if the chance arose, and I don't think discounting its value, fake or not, is an accurate assessment.

I know it's real because I bought it a few weeks ago, although it is kinda rare. P.S I am in South Africa so that kind of tells you that it is not a Singapore exclusive.

Reply to my previous comment, I've seen some of you say there is probably only one but that's not true because when I got it there was about 50 in one row and 12 at the opposite end of the store.

We do get 3DS Versions in South Africa and I got that single pack a few weeks ago. How do you get those emoticons of the different Skylanders when you say for example " I have (pic of Spyro)"

From what I heard its only in Ireland and Uk.

The UK, Ireland and I seem to remember Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands... though I have a feeling either Sweden or Norway or possibly both also have it... But Singapore got it first and also clearly South Africa has it now...
