How do you guys rack up the money on the game? Things are kind of pricey and bashing crates gets you less than 5 coins each time. How do you do it?

The best thing to do is to play the minigames. Most of them don't really give much out, but the Sheep Herding one has a high yield for very little effort. You can get about 100-150 coins per run, and that's only like a minute and a half.

The other thing you can do is knock down the totems. You should makes sure you have your portal connected to the computer, and also one of each of the Elements near you for quick swapping.

Games on your island are for fun.

Crates give you 4 or 6 so an average of 5.

It exist a trick that give you at least 600 coins in the level 7 of castle assault. And the level 31 and up in castle defense can give huge ammount of money(like 800 to 1600)

This video isn't that new.
Yes... some time ago we were able to get over 1000 coins. It was before the "mega update" came when everything was getting cheaper. It's still the same trick and it works 100%
You just have to hit the right timing.
All you have to do first is clear up Castle Assault lv 16 to get the exploding element ball ability.

I did the second method and only got 666 coins from it... :/

You can't get more than 666 coins since the mega update. This video was made before the update came.
