Oh lordy, I didn't know Sethisto had ever been here! Yikes! smilie He's uh...yeah. Like I said, 4chan hates Cynder entirely because of him (and now they hate MLP, too, mostly because of him but also because bronies are the worst kind of furry).

I kind of worry about Savage Cynder. I've seen her non-dA stuff. Let's just say she does finish things, but she draws nothing but Cynder and tends to take her obsession with the character a bit too far. :/ It reminds me uncomfortably of a certain Ripto fan (who also has an obsessed Jacques fan counterpart now). Ugh. *shivers* Why is Spyro fandom so creepy sometimes? o.o I mean, really, I'm not innocent in all of this, but I did at least reach a point where I realized I was taking some of this stuff a bit too seriously and ruining my own fun.

How dare you. Bronies arn't furries at all!

I NEED to meet Sethisto, he is a DOTD Cynder fan AND the founder of Equestria Daily.

You mean the most annoying and disturbly obsessive DotD Cynder fan.

I know I'll sound like the biggest hypocrite in the world as I poke fun at bronies, accusing them of being furries, but not every brony in the world is a furry. Some just like the show...........for some reason.

Not quite. Anyone who calls himself a brony is, in fact, a super furry. I know a wide range of MLP fans. The ones who aren't disturbingly obsessed and who just like the show for what it is don't call themselves bronies. Given that bronies have made even the show creators hugely uncomfortable, why would they? And speaking as someone who was a furry and active in that fandom for over a decade, I can tell you that the only difference between bronies and furries is that bronies got into a nasty state of existence in two years instead of the ten it took the furries. They have all the same things in common, right down to having their own obnoxiously "cute" pet words (yiff = clop, scritch, brohoof, murr, plot...). They even behave the same way in groups (I've been to a lot of furry cons and I had the dubious pleasure of going to a brony meetup; it was exactly the same as attending a small furry con right down to the annoying loud guy who won't leave the artists alone and keeps trying to demand free art).

Heh, but hilariously enough, at said brony meetup, I met a Cynder fan. XD If that's not ultimate proof that bronies are furries, I don't know what is. If you're a brony, you can pretend you lord it over the furries all you want, but the only people who even try to say that there's a difference between the two are bronies and furries. In the end, you're both obsessed with anthropomorphic cartoon animals and everyone, including many of your fellow fans, are uncomfortable around you. :D

And your icon's of He-man being exceedingly gay (yes, I've seen that video). Your point? Ah wait, never mind. I see where you're trying to go here and I don't actually get my jollies off Cynder's plastic boobs. Apparently that's all you can think about when you see them, though. Why are you trying to pretend you're not a furry again?

Seriously ID. You're on a Spyro forum. You have no room to point fingers. smilie I sense you are a furry...sorry, "brony", and you are getting your panties all in a bunch because you don't want to admit that you're not any better than "them". Hate to bust your bubble, but I've been in both circles; there's no difference except that bronies are actively killing their own origin source.

And you bet my icon is Cynder with boobs. It's canon now, funny as sin, and that face was fun to draw. It's pretty clear you have never seen what we in the real world like to call "comedy", which is what the full piece this icon is from is about (but I'm not surprised you are just making a crass judgment and not bothering to look any further than face value). If you've got a problem with Cynder's boobs, go whine at Activision like all the other crying fantards and see how far it gets you.

I nearly forgot to tell you all, there's this kid on YouTube called tombakerazshadow trolling my Classic Spyro petition video. He thinks everyone who likes Classic Spyro and other cocky heros hate all men and think men are all stupid arrogant jerks. He thinks I'm deliberately trying to ruin his life by wanting old Spyro back and anyone who agrees with me or wants him to calm down is mean.

You are mistaken. Furries are people who look at animals with human body parts. I don't see any boobs on ponies. And I certainly don't get turned on by them.
I also find Cynder having boobs amusing like most people.

Your avatar suggests your a scaly!

Oh, and I certainly don't 'fap'.
Razz Platinum Sparx Gems: 6124
#159 Posted: 15:32:33 19/02/2012
Nope. Furries are fans of anthropomorphic animals (anthropomorphic meaning to give human characteristics to non-human things). All that something needs to get the label is the ability to talk or make human expressions. A lot of furries (including many who whine about MLP) are fans of things like Okami (featuring a wolf who doesn't talk but displayes human emotions), Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmeron (see: Okami), and Balto (starring four-legged dogs with no human traits beyond their facial features). Heck, many furries are admitted MLP fans and, as I said, I met several furries at the brony meetup.

My avatar suggests that I like Skylanders Cynder and that I am irritated when I post, nothing else. The fact that you even use the word "scaley" implies you are a lot furrier than I am right now. :D

Pfft. Give it time. That's not something exclusive to furries, bronies, or any other group.

I get the very distinct impression from this whole comment that you actually have no idea what you're talking about. You've heard some buzz words, seen maybe three images on the Internet, and you're basing your whole statement on that. I would suggest more research (except don't; bronies and furries are both obnoxious and googling either one is likely to land you somewhere you'd rather not be, seeing a lot of things you didn't want to see).

Bronies and furries are still the same thing and since your only argument against that is to make some vague claims against me instead of addressing what I actually said, that still stands. If you do happen to find yourself being upset that you have been classed as a furry because of your fondness for MLP, I would suggest stepping back and disassociating yourself from the creepy, obsessive brony side of the fanbase and just enjoying the show by itself without the fandom for awhile. Getting crabby about being a furry means you're in too deep and are at a dangerous risk of becoming that which even Hasbro is uncomfortable with.

Bronies arn't furries. End of story.

Look at all cartoon starring animals. Your basicly saying that if there is a film or TV show (e.g. The Lion King) where an animal talks and some one who is a fan of it is a furry.

YOU ARE WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS DEAR RAZZ.

Furries are people who are anthro character enthusiasts. They don't have to like them sexually, though. Just like them, and to take particular interest in things starring them.

Bronies are the same thing, but with MLP.

That's nice. And I know a few MLP fans that don't call themselves bronies either.

HOWEVER, when someone from outside of the fandom notices anyone that likes MLP, they're quick to slap the brony name onto them. To someone inside the fandom, yeah, they're just a fan. But to anyone outside, they're a brony. The most they can do is deal with it.

WHERE IS THIS TOPIC GOING????? *shot*

I got the name "furry" dubbed onto me when I drew animals and occasionally anthropomorphic ones. (My username sort of adds a bit more of irony.)

Personally; I don't give a crap anymore. But I just hate when they stereotype you like you always wear fursuits, draw perverted stuff about animals, and do naughty things to animals.

I had a friend who liked MLP but didn't call herself a "furry". Yet she would usually draw ponies on two legs or draw pictures of their dairy-airs.

I don't crudely judge on anyone being a furry. Then again; I don't judge too crudely in general. *shrugs*

Alright, here's my two cents on the furry thing:
Some bronies are furries but not all of them. Some furries are bronies but not all of them. Being a furry fan isn't a bad thing on its own, but it carrys a bad repuation due to the vast sums of anthro and animal porn. However, as stated that does not mean all furrys are bad, just that some are ruining it for the rest, and lets not forget that not all furrys are sexually attracted to animals/human like animals. Also, not everyone who likes talking/human-like animals are furrys.

Whew... I need to use smaller words here. While some of you did read and understand what I was actually saying, it looks like most of you didn't.

What I've been saying is that bronies, on the whole, act like the kind of furries that got furries so much negative attention. You can disagree all you want but it doesn't change what I've personally experienced in both fandoms. Nor does it change that Hasbro, the company behind MLP, has started to notice how badly the bronies are behaving and are starting to distance their product from its adult fans.

Being a furry isn't always a bad thing and the definition of furry can be vague at times. Most of the people who talk a lot on these forums would be considered furries by anyone outside the Spyro fandom, just so you know. And, sorry to bust anyone's bubble, but anyone who is enough of a fan of things like The Lion King to draw fanart or write fanfiction (especially anything in which the characters are on two legs) gets lumped in with furries. Anyone who cares as much about the emotional lives and romances of fictional dragons pretty much fits the textbook definition of furry, too. You can hate it all you want but that's the way outsiders view this stuff.

Either way, I have no respect for anyone who considers him/herself a brony, the same way as I have no respect for anyone who is an overly obsessed furry (as in, the people who consider furry fandom to be a lifestyle choice, treat real people badly for the sake of their cartoon animal fixations, do bad things to their pets, and treat being so obsessed with a fandom that they lose track of reality like it's something to be proud of; raise your hand if you've seen bronies do any of this stuff *raises hand*). You can whine all you want about how bronies aren't furries; it pretty much proves my point for me.

To address the thing about being labeled a furry or brony when you aren't one, just don't take those labels to heart. I like MLP just fine, but I don't associate with its fandom and when someone sees my Doctor Whooves shirt and asks if I'm a brony, I politely tell them I am not. I have a whole webcomic based around characters from ancient mythology with animal heads and if people want to call me a furry for it, it's not going to bother me (I was an admitted furry since I drew my first cartoon horse in first grade and only left the active fandom when it got too uncomfortable for me to be a part of). You don't have to take the assumptions other people make about you seriously.

Now, aren't we having some sort of extremely furry discussion about dragon boobs? :D

...........With that first bit, I don't know if I should act offended, or actually be offended. Because I know for a fact that I fall into the "most" category.

Acting like crazy furries don't always mean they are crazy furries. There are people out there that go nuts over this show, but the show itself, and not really the ponies that surround it. Are they furries too? I personally don't think so.

You clearly must have only been on the Internet for about five minutes. My first exposure to furries was through creepy Lion King fanart. And you're the only one screaming loudly about not being a furry, ID, which says a lot more about you than it does me. We're all aware that you're furry/brony who doesn't want to admit it. You can stop now. You're name is "Ice Dragoness" and you're screaming constantly that you being a brony doesn't make you a furry. After having been in the furry fandom as long as I was, I think I can tell a furry when I see one and you, dear, are it. Go back and try reading some of what I wrote instead of just picking out a few words that get your hackles up.

MLP: a show about cartoon animals
furries: fans of cartoons animals
bronies: fans of cartoon animals

Simple enough for you yet?

Quote:

No, no. Bronies draw and fap to them, too (to the extent that even the furries were getting tired of seeing pastel ponies everywhere). Though I must point out that not all furries are perverts. While the fandom is, unfortunately, more comprised of that sort than it once was, there are still a number of members who just like clean, fun cartoon animal art/stories and have friends within the community.

CAV, I believe we've been through this before about not taking general statements so personally. I didn't even see your name in this thread until now. And I have yet to meet anyone who is obsessed with the show who doesn't take that obsession into the same uncomfortable levels that furries do with their fandoms. Like I said, that brony meetup was no different to any furry con I've ever been to except that there were a lot more uncomfortable looks from people on the street when the bronies passed by.

I think I addressed the label thing, or I was responding to it. Sorry if I was repeating something you said. *shrug*

Matesds: If I'm even reading your question right, then my answer is that there is no such thing as a "sane furry". Anyone who identifies as a furry can't be fully separated from that subculture. And the only people I know of who parody furries are other furries. When non-furries try to do it, it tends to be taken weirdly seriously and not researched well enough.

You know there exists people that are fans of the show itself, and nothing else, right? That the idea of ponies being in it doesn't really make the show better for them, right? And that the most general definition of furry is someone whom has an interest in anthromorphic animals, which is debatable as to if the ponies in the show count as anthromorphic, as the definition of anthromorphic usually varies, but doesn't fit the bill of the ponies simply because they speak, right?

Yes we have. But I'm still a paranoid douche. And I find myself falling into the "most" category, as I feel like I missed something in your post. This isn't me thinking you put me in there. This is me putting myself in there.

I think it's mostly due to her fanbase combined with her generic "captured and emo and fall in love with hero" attitude.
Not that the lot of the fans are awful in general- in fact, a lot of them are quite nice- but they're generally quiet about being fans for her, whereas the annoying ones with fetishes over it are, in comparison, very, very loud and known.
So basically, it's the same reason with the same case as why Bronies are hated just without Pegasi: the sane Spyros against the erotic Sparxes. In fact, "spyro and cynder mating" is a search suggested by Google.

By myself I have nothing against them, though. In fact, when there were a lot of people complaining about Cynder before Skylanders, it annoyed me so, so much more...

I think all the hate comes from the fact that normal people get pissed off by her crazy fans. So to piss the crazy fans off they hate. XP I donno for sure though.
