Well, it's not exactly a fanfic, it's just something I thought of one day when I was feeding my chickens.. Brilliant plot and all, but I don't want to spoil it for ya..

There once was a family who lived in a small rural town called Westchester. They lived in a small, cozy one story house on a corner of the block. The father’s name was John Tybolt. He had a wife named Katie. Together they had two children: A 14-year old boy named Ryan and a 16-year old girl named Samantha. They were relatively good kids. They never got in trouble at school, except that time when Ryan put a toad in the teacher’s pencil drawer. One day the family went out for a long Sunday drive in the middle of the Spring. They had a large black SUV with silver hubcaps. The father was driving, with the wife in the passenger seat, Ryan behind the father in the back seat, and Samantha behind her mother. They drove down a long and straight country road, with nothing but fields to either side of them.

“I’m bored!” Ryan complained, playing his Nintendo DS.

“For the last time, play with your DS!” Katie called back to him.

“Yeah Ryan, play your DS!” Samantha said sarcastically.

“Mom! Sammy’s being sarcastic again!!” He whined. Samantha shrugged and got back to texting one of her friends on her lime green keyboard phone. The car hit a huge pothole, sending everyone flying in the air for a second.

“Whoa! Drive much, Dad?!” Samantha gasped. Suddenly she realized that she had accidentally pressed the ‘Send Message’ button on her phone. The text read: ‘It’s so boring.. Ryan is being a real as-xdgbd’ She just shrugged and sat back in the car seat to look at the fields of the green corn stalks barely growing from the ground. They came to a very odd scenic landmark. A large clump of trees out in the middle of no where. They got closer, and the kids could see that there was a tiny little cabin right by the trees. John stopped the van and they all looked at the run-down cabin.

“Oh man! Mr. Hubert must have moved out,” he said. The kids looked at each other.

“What? That creepy old geezer that was always so mean?!” Ryan shouted. Samantha rolled her eyes.

“Yeah! I guess he either died or… Well, died!” Katie laughed at herself. They spent more time staring at the old abandoned cabin. The windows were mostly shattered, the shingles on the roof were falling apart. Mr. Hubert used to keep chickens in his yard, mostly so he wouldn’t have to go to town to buy eggs at the grocery store. That’s all he ever ate was eggs. He drank his own well water, too. The old chicken coop was still visible, it was falling apart like the house was.

“Okay, enough gawking, let’s go ahead and---,” John started but Ryan interrupted him.

“Dad! Look! What is that?” He pointed in the yard.

“I don’t know… What is that?” John squinted, trying to make out the figure that was barely moving. It was about 300 feet away, and it look like a black ball. Ryan opened the door and bolted out of the van.

“Ryan! No!” Katie warned. He ran up to the mysterious object and stared at it. Then he picked it up.

“What are you doing?! What is it?!” Katie freaked out. He walked up to the van and showed them what it was.

“It’s a chicken!” He beamed. Sure enough, it was a little chick. Just hatched, it looked like. It was pitch black in color and had a very sharp beak. It had mysteriously bright yellow eyes that seemed as if they were glowing.

“Wow! Look at those nasty spurs on that thing!” John laughed and pointed at the huge knife-like claws sticking out from its legs.

“That’s strange… It can’t have spurs! It’s just a chick! They get spurs when they’re a lot older,” Ryan said, examining its legs. He knew a lot about chickens. The family used to have their own chickens, until they became too expensive to keep.

“Dad… Can we keep him?” He added, smiling at his dad. His dad’s eyes widened and Katie looked like she was going to faint. Samantha seemed to want the chicken too.

“Please, Dad! If we just leave him here, he’s going to die! He doesn’t have his mother,” he looked at the small peeping black chick sadly. John sighed.

“Alright Ryan, but you HAVE to be responsible for him, you hear?” He warned. Ryan laughed.

“Dad, please! We already have a cat and a dog! I can take care of a little chicken!” He chuckled and got back in the car. Samantha stared at it in awe.

“He’s so cute!” She awed. The chick looked at her with his glowing yellow eyes. Samantha gasped. She could of sworn she saw it wink at her.

Well, I was going to, but I'm going to be drawing pictures to go along with this story, thus it will still sort of be 'Art related'. I just don't wanna waste 2 topics, when I can just post on one. Plus it isn't really a 'Fan Fic'.. And thanks! :3

The van pulled into the driveway and Ryan burst through the car door and ran toward the house. The black chick peeped excitedly. After Katie unlocked the door, he ran inside and grabbed a large tote box. He threw in some newspaper, got a water bowl and placed it inside. Then he set the chick down inside the box.

“There you go! There’s your home until you get enough feathers so that you can stay outside!” He said to the chick. It stared at him with his yellow eyes. Ryan looked away, unable to look it in the eye.

“You have strange eyes.. Um… Shadow! That’s your name! I’ll call you Shadow,” he smiled.

“Well at least you didn’t name it Snowball,” said a voice behind him. He whirled around, and after seeing it was Samantha he sighed,

“Oh, it’s you…” She glared at him, and with him being the younger brother he apologized.

“Nice place for your chick… Are you planning on shipping him away??” She teased.

“No! It’s all we have right now! You know, since we sold all of our chicken stuff because they were too dang expensive to keep!” He said, a little angry.

“Alright, alright! I’ll leave you to your black fuzz ball now,” she said and walked away. Ryan looked down at the chick. It kept glaring at him with its piercing eyes.

“Stop that, Shadow!” He said, looking away. Shadow kept peeping and peeping all night long. John and Katie were going insane because of it. Samantha flipped and turned in her bed to try to block out the sound. Even Ryan was getting annoyed. Finally, he stormed downstairs and into the kitchen and to the box. He looked down it and almost yelled, “WHAT DO YOU WANT?!” The chick stopped peeping and just stood there.

“Oh, NOW you stop..” He sighed and started to walk out of the kitchen. Shadow started peeping loudly again.

“Fine! You want to be with me?!” He shouted and grabbed the chick and brought it to bed with him. It fell asleep right next to his head. He smiled and fell asleep as well. But what he didn’t know was that through the whole night the chick did not sleep at all. It kept its glowing eyes open, staring at him. The room was pitch black except for the two glows that were its eyes.

Chapter 3 will be up tomorrow, and possibly four as well. Oh, and just an FYI, this is a horror story, so expect some creepiness. YAY, going to the Monster Truck show tomorrow!
