Hahaha, blame the buyers. Even a .99 cent auction for a Legendary pack is going to end at about $80. The real villains here are impatience and impulse; how else could these all be selling for so much?

Chicken or egg, etc. There's no way to conclusively answer if it's prices that drive up greed, or greed that drives up prices. In reality, the problem with Skylander prices isn't one or the other; it's the fact that people buy what second-hand sellers are selling, and drive the prices up all on their own. Yes, people do sell on eBay hoping to make a profit, but there's no way to sell something for more than a customer is willing to pay for it.

But isn't Toys R Us milking the prices?

Yes they are. Even official chains are somewhat scalping figures. They're worth so much more than MSRP right now, it's not even funny. Even generic ones are worth more the second they're bought than they were on the store shelf. GameStop has raised prices, too. It's not just eBayers who are squeezing the consumer right now.

For me, the root of the problem is that no one is patient, and everyone thinks they've got to have everything RIGHT NOW or the world will end. Not only that, for some people, $100 for a Legendary pack is simply disposable income that they won't miss. Skylanders has become a hobby for the determined and the wealthy, but not for the faint of heart. It's tough being a fan of this series right now, and even tougher for those just starting out, but the difficulty is also part of the allure. We wouldn't care so much about it if it weren't a commodity.

DLC items for every character that cost money and are really cool in game; .99 cents each, or $5 for a pack of several. Pets, like Trigger Snappy and Gill Runt, that come in randomized packs, similar to trading cards, where you don't know what you're getting until you open them. Overall cost: Thousands of dollars.

It'll be that expensive only if they go with the larger figures. And even if they do, you can count me out now. No way would I spend $15 for a figure.

I'm betting a $9.99 MSRP, and $15 at Toys 'R' Us. I really am. It's disheartening, but I would bet you $20 right now that it happens. They'll justify it somehow; maybe with more features, maybe with a dinky magic item or a web code for a special DLC ability or hat or whatever, but they'll figure out a way. I'm scared to think of how expensive the sequel is going to be.

It contradicts what One of Swords has stated a few times. Not so sure what to believe now. It is entirely possible that Tech Support has no idea whats going on, been there done that, and they are attempting to put the best face forward for the customer.

Personally, disregarding the $10 bet, if the social media PR guy has gotten confirmation from higher-ups within the company from 2 seperate sources that the legendary figures are still in production and should be back in stores soon, I am going to believe that. It goes against the "investor" in me due to the fact that I paid $70 for the 3 pack on ebay. I think they will come back into stores around the same time that L-Trigger Happy is released.

The whole reason ToysRus removed it is because it is no longer being sold. They do this with all exclusives. If you have have bought something besides Skylanders that was exclusive to ToysRus you will see what I mean. The console version only promotes the main 32 and that is because that is the main 32 that they plan to keep selling. In a way it is like asking Activision if they are going to resell the Volcanic Volt at a later date.

I was told yesterday by a TRU employee in the UK, that TRU will lose the exclusivity on the Legendaries in two months time. Considering the US is at least a month and half ahead of the UK for figures perhaps this is the calm before the other shops get these figures?

Wally world and target had stickers on their packages denoting exclusivity. TRU was printed on the packaging. I find it rather odd that it would be stickers for single and printed for triple.

Touché. I hope Trig comes out soon - he's been fairly well hidden but I guess we all assumed that he would be a TRU exclusive.

On a lighter note, TRU UK has some of the cheapest store prices for their figurines - £6.97 for singles. Don't know about triples, however.

This would be very disappointing if true. My son really wants this pack, but I simply refuse to pay eBay prices for it. Oh well.

Well, if that's the case, I definitely won't be buying the Legendary Trigger Happy. What a stupid decision. This pack could have very well been their best seller if they had re-released it.

Toys R Us says, thanks to updated information from Activision, that Legendary figures will return to store shelves.

And FWIW, repeating myself from last week: The Legendary toys are TRU exclusives; the Target and Walmart exclusives were clearly time-limited, but the Legendary toys, being a completely different paint job and package, are only going to show up in Toys R Us. I asked the Skylanders team here at work on Friday and they confirmed it, then someone else from the team confirmed it this morning just to make sure I'd gotten an answer. They said more are being made now and TRU stores should get restocks in the coming weeks/months.

I hope people believe me this time.

Nah I have them already, bought 'em for $50 a while ago, I was impatient. I still need the whirlwind/drill/dt triple pack but I can wait for that in stores someday. eBay also has a suspicious opened gold flameslinger.
