How many of you remember when the first Spyro came out? [CLOSED]

I'm just wondering. I know a lot of users on here weren't born yet when Spyro the Dragon came out.

I remember I was about... 7 I think when it came out. Back then my dad was still subscribed to OPSM and we'd get demo discs in the mail along with the magazine. Spyro the Dragon was on one of the demos, and I played THE HECK out of that game, oh man. I believe it was the Christmas of that year that I then got the full game.

Best Christmas, that year.

I think the Christmas that Spyro 2 came out was when I got that one plus Ape Escape 1 and my own PS1.

So yeah, how many of you where here for the first Spyro game? Or which game was the newest Spyro that you first remember? What was your very first Spyro game?

Heh, I remember one of the main reasons I was so crazy about the Spyro game back then was because it was a game where you got to play as a DRAGON.
I was so obsessed with dragons when I was a kid. Well, still am, but even more so when I was younger.

I think the first Spyro the Dragon came out the day after I was born, thus I was 0.
I played the first Spyro later on in life, at maybe age 5 or 7.

but i love it all smooth

I don't recall Spyro the Dragon (game) when I was a youth at all since I didn't hear of Spyro until the year after. I was very much alive at that time, though.

Ditto. Like Burning Gnorc, I was alive at the time of Spyro's first release to the world, but didn't get to play it until later. (Six years later after Spyro first came out to be exact.)

I was about 8 or 9, and the first time I saw it was on Toonami in a giveaway they were having. He looked so cute and cool, so I got the PS1 for Christmas just so I could play it.

I remember many of my friends having the game when it came out. I remember seeing the TV commercials for I think Riptos Rage and I got some of the toys from Taco Bell.

Did you know the Taco Bell chihuahua voice actor was also Spyros in the first game?

The only Spyro advertisement I remember seeing on TV where for ETD.

Yes, I found that out on Wikipedia, his name was Carlos Alazqui. I can't remember the spelling of his second name. I think he recently done some voice acting in the sequel for Call of Jaurez.

I was six when it came out, and I remember the ads, the set up at TRU, the push that you could flame the sheep... yeah I loved it. =P My dad bought a PS1 and a demo disk came with it, had Spyro on it... played it and the Crash game a ton. I don't remember when I got it, probably Christmas?

Played the first Spyro on the original PS1 when I was three. Fell in love with him then- (Memory is a bit cloudy after that)- Then I most recently came back into loving him last year... Best decision I have made in a long time

I remember playing a demo of Spyro 1 at such a young age. I loved everything about it, LOL, I never thought that the simplest thing of collecting gems could be so fun. I think I liked the environments the most, they were just so weird and different to me, and it just gave me such an imagination when I was a kid.

The demo didn't have the first cutscene or the main menu, it just started with Spyro in the Artisans, and there's only three dragons to free not four like in the full version. The one outside Toasty is not there. All three cutscenes from the dragons are slightly different, and even the lives are gold and not silver. Toasty's portal would not open, and Town Square was bricked up. The music in Stone Hill was the ending credit music from Spyro 1, and the music in the Artisans was the opening music in the main menu on Spyro 1.

There were many differences that I notice now between them both than I did before. But as soon as I got the full version of the game, I did notice straight away that the music and cutscenes were different, even in the levels of Stone Hill and Dark Hollow, it was just text to read and no cutscene at all. LOL

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing, another change was that in the demo, Sparx wouldn't make a buzzing sound as he picked up a gem towards Spyro. And there wasn't the sound of a gem being picked up, the only sound was when it absorbed into Spyro. Normally on the full version, Sparx makes a buzzing sound when picking up a gem, and as he picks it up, the gem makes a sound, and as it goes into Spyro it then makes another sound.

Do you like my blabbering long post?
