I got a Volcanic Vault off evilbay for 4 Bucks! What good deals have you gotten?

There was that Skylanders Cynder toy figure that was 30 bucks, compared to the other Cynder toys on ebay.

I paid retail for all of my skylander figures except for

Wrecking ball - 25 on ebay (i got the first one I saw and got ripped off. There are plenty for 10)
Legendary 3 pack - 73 with ship on ebay

I plan on getting every other one for retail at a local store. I have my fingers, toes, shoelaces, and anything else i can crossed for release tomorrow at either target, walmart, tru, or gamestop.

I got Whirlwind AND Drill Sargent all together for 30 on eBay

I have almost every single skylander out, sans the legendary triple pack, volcanic vault, and the wave 3 guys that are starting to come out, all the ones i have(including the game/starter pack) i got for free from christmas time.=3 if thats not a great deal idk what is lol. And i still dont have to pay a dime for wave 3 because i saved all my xmas gift cards and money etc. for them. I'll finally have to spend my own money when i buy the legendary triple pack & volcanic vault on ebay. But thats still going to be paid with by tax returns lol so ill be good for a while.

Can we talk about older deals? I bought Skylanders new shortly after it's release at TRU with the buy one get one deal. So when I actually bought the game, I also picked up Darklight Crypt and got Pirate Seas for free.

Then on the weekend after Black Friday, I picked up a Legendary pack and got a 3 Pack for free with the bogo.

Those are extremely good deals on them, especially because of how much buying 3 individual figures are. So where I would have spent almost $50 on them individually, I got them for like $20.

I think the BOGO sale that TRU had is the reason why the single packs are now $10 instead of $8 and the triple packs are now $25 instead of $20. They didn't expect Skylanders to take off like it did, so they are re-couping their losses.

There is no way that TRU lost money on the bogo sale they had on these things. I would imagine that cost for the figures for TRU is somewhere around $3.

I didn't mean to imply that they actually lost money on the BOGO sale. But if you are a TRU executive, and you see the potential sales lost from this BOGO sale, it makes it seem like a loss because it's a lost opportunity. They are probably thinking that they could have make more profit if they went with a buy 1 get 1 for half off, so to make some of that money back, they jacked up their prices.

No no no. THat is what is known as an ADV (advertised to demonstrate value) and is intended either lose money ( the $100 flat screen TV ) or to generate foot traffic and get people to purchase other items OR both (the $300 laptop). Being that this was after black friday, I am going with the latter on this one. TRU needs the foot traffic. The barbie corvette doesnt fly off the shelf and is an impulse buy for its price, $90. You have to have someone in the store to see it and think that their kid or niece would like it.

I am aware of loss leaders, and I don't believe Skylanders was used as one. I think they still made money on the sale.

Give me another reason why TRU jacked their prices by 25%. I believe they are trying to capitalize on a popular product and make up for a poor decision on the BOGO deal.

TRU almost filed Chapter 11 so what I have bolded is the sole reason that I believe.
