I have no earthly idea what motivated me to make this topic...especially since it isn't even Halloween. But the purpose of this topic is exactly what it says in the title... Post music from non-horror games that you found disturbing, either by a little or by a lot... ^.^;
And please, as a general rule, put the videos as links. Constantly posting a boatload of videos will make other people's computers slow down. We don't want that.
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile - 'Ghadius Laughs'
This isn't the most disturbing tune out there, but with how 'whimsical' the rest of the soundtrack is...it's unsettling. It's not that bad in the game, since you can't hear it well, but listening to it without the voice acting....

Sonic CD - Final Frenzy (Final Boss Theme for the US soundtrack of the game. The Japanese song is totally different, and isn't creepy at all).
I find this really unnerving, especially in a Sonic game, where the soundtrack is usually very energetic....then, there's that hidden message, and this song plays when you find it...

I haven't played Sonic CD, but I've heard that track before, and I have to agree; it's very unnerving. I don't know what the hidden message is, though.
Phantasy Star Universe - Tension and Mystery Honestly, Tension sounds like it's from a horror game, but PSU is not a horror game... Mystery is very creepy, too. I believe I first heard one of those tracks in an early mission of Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus. Seriously, imagine this: You're in a mine, looking for clues to find a wanted man. Instead, you find a robot that decides it would be a grand idea to attack you. You and your companions bring it down, and realize you've got to leave the mines and fast. Two problems: You're far from the exit, and you don't know if they are anymore killer robots out there. And Tension or Mystery plays. EDIT: Bah, I can't find replacement links for these... |

^It was creepy when I was a kid.
Now, I find it relaxing. Though, the version from first wave releases of Red and Green in Japan still does weird stuff to my head and body. The theme could easliy be scary if it was orchestrated though.

I can see kids getting creeped out by it. xP
I really like the song myself, haven't heard many other versions of it besides backwards. Probably going to find that one now. Also, as much as I love the Viridian Forest track that's called creepy as well.

I found Lavender Town's theme creepy when I was younger, but now, it sounds more sad than creepy to me. Pokemon has far creepier tracks than Lavender Town.

For those who are curious:
Sonic CD - Hidden Sound Test Message #2 There are other Hidden Messages in Sound Test, but this is the only creepy one (and the Japanese version doesn't have the same music). The writing basically translates to "Fun is Infinite with Sega Enterprises - Majin". I want to know what they were smoking...

Agreed. I listened to it, and I didn't find it disturbing by any means. I think people only find it creepy due to nostalgia of the actual game, or something.

I couldn't find a video, so I will just say it. All classic Tomb Raider sounds. They are so mysterious and scary!
For example, in a specific Tomb Raider 3 level, you come across a dark, abandoned train station where disfigured cult members roam around. When you go into a dark, small room, a black-cloaked cult member pops out from around the corner and you can barely see him! And to make it worse, a loud, horror-like screech echoes through the level.

Some, if not most of the Tomb Raider music from the PS1 titles are creepy or sad. I think the only two that sound fun and Spyroey are the credits section of Tomb Raider II, and Tomb Raider: Last Revelation.
The newer tracks in the second era by Crystal Dynamics are either relaxing, or like dance music. Also some music from a video game Myst III: Exile creep me out too, but there is this one particular one I like and sounds like it should be in Tomb Raider: Legend. |

Phantasy Star Online - The Nearest Place to Heaven Part 1
When I first heard it, I found it eerily relaxing, which I believe is the point... But as I've listened to it further, I've noticed just how messed up it is. It's pretty easy to tell that things are not what they seem to be... The situation this plays in holds true to this, but I'll put in spoiler... Imagine this scenario. You've explored this ancient ship for awhile now, killing the freakish monsters within it. You've found this teleporter, and it takes you to this lush, green place. Rather different from the dark spaceship, right? Oh, but that monument looks intriguing and rather ominous, too. So you do the inevitable: You walk up to the monument. The peaceful area changes. The ground is now covered in faces/skulls that appear to be moaning in agony. And things with razorblades rise up from the ground and attack you. And this plays during it It gets worse after you defeat the razorblades, but the boss' music is more epic than disturbing, so I don't think I should divulge further. Unless you want to know, then PM me or something. It's scenarios like these that make me wonder if it's a good thing that Phantasy Star Online basically had no story...but the explanations I've come up with for this encounter also make me think an in-game explanation would've been better, too... |

Legend of Zelda :
1. A Link to the Past – Light World Dungeon 2. Ocarina of Time – Shadow Temple, Dodongo’s Cavern, Final Battle Against Ganon (epic music for the final battle), Fire Temple & Inside Ganon’s Castle 3. Majora’s Mask – Ikana Canyon, Snowhead Temple, Majora’s theme & Sharp’s Curse 4. Twilight Princess – Twilight Palace, Zant’s Theme/Battle, Spirit’s Theme (It sounds very sad, spooky and yet peaceful), Arbiters Grounds & History of the Goddesses (That one cut-Scene is kind of creepy) Sonic- Resurrection of Mephiles Mario: 1. Super Mario 64 Haunted House (this one has always been the spookiest for me with memories of that haunted piano) 2.Super Paper Mario – River Twygz Bed (This one makes my head hurt ) 3. Super Mario Galaxy 2 – Haunty Halls Galaxy (not that scary but still kind of spooky) Super Metroid – Title Screen Theme Tales of Vesperia – Nightmare Reflected in the Mirror

Definitely "The World of Nothing" from Super Paper Mario. For a Mario game, it definitely had a dark storyline. That music always gives me the heebie-jeebies whenever I travel through that empty world. It's used to be called Sammer's Kingdom.

I haven't played Super Paper Mario, but I've heard World of Nothing, and it is most definitely disturbing. But River Twygz Bed or whatever it's called is even more disturbing, IMO. I'll listen to World of Nothing just fine (though I'll be very freaked out), but I wouldn't listen to River Twygz Bed even if you paid me. It's those distorted words, I swear.......
