Just wondering, but i've been around that forum a long time, and met some peoplez there. So I'm kinda concerned what happened to it? since it seems I can't have access...
Did they close it ? :/
maybe I missed a topic about it..sorry for that.

It's probably just a problem they're having.
I dunno why SR would close down the forums, but then again I haven't really been on there, or even visited for a while. I have heard that it's gone a little downhill over there. |

SpyroForums always had trouble with staying accessible. It's probably just crashed again and will be back in a day or so. Though I wouldn't blame SR for closing it down, given how little interest he's had in it for so many years.

I sat there for a while, read some topics, and decided that the place was too boring, and a bit too Spyro orientated. I would obviously join a Spyro forum for Spyro, but I also want boards where we could discuss whatever we want. SF doesn't seem to have much of a mindset to focus on that.
Plus, the admin seems like a kid. I know he really isn't one, but the way he acts and talks gives me the vibe that he's new to site management. Quote: TheWereCat

SF has more members, but dS has more active users. Honestly, this place is currently the only Spyro forum or site that could be considered active outside of the big official sites like Skylanders Universe.

PS3 isn't backwards compatible. You can't play any of your PS2 or PS1 games on it and a big chunk of good games aren't on the PSN (or they're glitchy, you have to rebuy them, or Sony will steal your credit card information).
Jeeze, what do you guys do to your systems? I still have a working PS1 and PS2. |

We have a PS3 almost solely for the Batman games and The Last Guardian. And we got it used with none of the fancy bells and whistles attached. Heck, I'm pretty sure we watch more movies with it than anything else. I'll be getting Skylanders most likely for the PS3, but only because the Wii and I don't get along at all.

I've heard bad things about PS3 Red ring usually strikes people who hardly care for their systems. My friend baby's his, and he's had it since their first production run. Besides, 360 has Halo-- The Sonic the Hedgehog of the 21st century |

As I recall, the first gen PS3 was backwards compatible, but they removed that feature along with a ton of others and it really cheesed people off.
No, CAV, you can't have our PS3. It's the only Blu Ray player we've got. Oh, and Stoker would die without access to his Magic: the Gathering game on there. Also, Tomb Raider and Sly 4 are coming out for it eventually and I need it. |

I just checked that list you posted, SB, and the games the PS3 can play backwards compatibility wise is a very small list. Thus, if you really want to play your older games, you'll still need a PS1 and/or PS2, because not many of them can be played on PS3.
|
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7105 |
#33 Posted: 18:36:33 23/10/2011
Went back and checked the list, and realised it's not fully comprehensive. It's correct about what versions of the PS3 are compatible with PS2 games, but the list of games definitely isn't complete. Toy Story 2 and Disney's Hercules for the PS1 are not on that list, yet I can play both on my PS3, and they are fully functional too.

SB: I've never been able to get any of my older games to work on our PS3. *shrug* Basically, if you want to play your old games these days, you need your old system or a lot of cash and some prayers to hope that the digital versions released by Sony/Nintendo/whatever are a decent emulation. Or you need an emulator.
The rivalry between SF and dS back in the day wasn't much and was pretty stupid. I don't actually remember any rivalry on this site, but folks on SF sometimes got snippy about dS members. |

I've played quite a few PlayStation games on the PS3, they work, but are very out of sync. For example, I press a button to jump and it seems to take two or three seconds for the system to realise I've pressed a button and for it to do that action.

The older versions of the PS3 were backwards compatible, but unfortunately are now rare, because Sony stopped making them that way when they realized that if people cannot play their old games on the system, they will buy more new games, and as the sheep that we are, we follow their lead.

However, I'm glad because I keep hearing how harsh the rules are over there and the admin being irresponsible. Not to mention the place being inactive all the time.
