Chapter XXVII: In the Belly of the Beast

The dragon Peyrite walked forth alongst the meadow, the cold and icy wind razing his collar. His feet trod through the glistening dew of the field as he went forward to face the Lenarashos, or "Shadow Dragon". The great demon stood, a massive wisp that towered over Peyrite at a distance. Its eyes white voids, it stood and let out a calm roar, almost as if trying to speak. Peyrite called out, "I will free you, dragon, free you from the clutches of Axel this very night.".

Amber got up beside Peyrite and said, "Well, getting inside that will suck.". Peyrite opened his wings, and said, "Not really, grab on. And keep your hands ABOVE my waist.". Amber grappled herself around Peyrite, and Peyrite burst forth, white flames making a comet about him, and pounded into Lenarashos' gut, and the great demon doubled over. Then, Amber and Peyrite swung off the demon's fangs, and dove down his throat, landing it the chest with explosive force on impact.

Amber said, "You must have a plan for this...", seeing the vast cavernous walls of the demon. Peyrite cracked a smile and said, "Nope, just gonna wing it, peaches...". Peyrite drew Gatsu and swung, yelling "Dazhvong baxchzahil!", as the swing spawned a great fiery typhoon, which smashed the walls of the demon, revealing Axel, patiently waiting. Peyrite leapt to confront him, and Axel just stood.

Axel said, "You and I both know I have no intention of winning this battle. For the destruction of this form shall call forth me in my most powerful form. Strike me, and end this form. One of us is to die.". Peyrite swung at the dragon Axel, whose last words of this form are, "I did not say I was not intending murder, however.". Axel fired off a massive surge of energy as he died, towards the cliff beneath Amber's feet.

As Amber slipped off the breaking rock ledge, she fell to the lava below. Peyrite yelled out, "Amber!", as he burst towards Amber and caught her as he pierced through the demon and it was purified in fire and flames. The skeletal dragon, pawn of Axel, ascended in white smoke, into the starry night. Amber and Peyrite landed in a field, and though their wounds caused them to slowly wisp away into unconsciousness, Peyrite said, "You're not dying. Not as long as I am around to do anything about it.". Amber nodded, and the two passed out in each others' arms as the winter snow fell about them.

Spyro, quite a few days after the battle, trod through the snow, so high it nearly covered his legs. Fairly unphased by the frigid air, he stopped to light up a smoke with a small burst of fire, before continuing on to find Amber and Peyrite asleep in an embrace. Spyro, not caring for what he mistook as their romantic advents, pulled the cigarette from his sharp, white teeth, and puffed a cloud of smoke on the two dragons.

As the smoke clouded their faces, Peyrite and Amber slowly awoke to see the purple dragon standing over them. Looking at each other, and then looking back up, the two said in unison, "This isn't what it looks like.". Spyro cynically said, "Oh, I'm quite sure.". Amber and Peyrite sat up, and Amber said with a sigh, "Leave us be...". Spyro walked off, saying in a sing-song tone, "Amber and Excavenger sitting it a field, K-I-S-S-I-N-G...". Amber picked up a rock and chucked it at Spyro's head, dropping him like a log.

Peyrite and Amber walked up to Spyro and Amber said, "Oh, grow up, Spyro.". Spyro said sarcastically, noting his special circumstances, "Were it so easy.". Peyrite corrected him, saying, "Were it so possible. Now get up, and let's get back to the compound.". And so the three walked on, Spyro occasionally complaining about his headache Amber so gracefully gifted him with.

Spyro said, "Did you really have to hit that hard? My head is pounding.". Amber said, "You were being an idiot. Now, quit fussing, it's just a little welt and some bleeding.". Spyro snarled, "Implying any bleeding is good...". Peyrite said, "Spyro, keep your trap shut for the rest of the way, I have a wonderful concussion brewing.". Amber said, "Thank you...". And so they continued on, silent, until they all reached the compound.

Upon reaching the compound, Spyro went to his quarters to rest, and likely drink, away his migraine, and Peyrite and Amber simply went into their quarters. Peyrite sat back in a chair, as did Amber, upon reaching the bedroom, and Peyrite said, "This might be the headache talking, but I got a question.". Amber lit up a smoke, and said, biting on the cigarette, "Shoot.". Peyrite said, "You know what pretty much everyone is like when they make out. What about Malle and Spyro?".

Amber said, "Malle reeked, because he was a VERY heavy smoker. Tasted like chewed, burnt flesh. Pretty awful, but I got used to it.". Peyrite said, "And Spyro?". Amber laughed and said with a smile, "Lemonade.". Getting the joke rather well, Peyrite laughed softly to himself, cracked a smile, and said, "I figured as much. Kid makes Hounter look sober, and that guy did nothing but drink.". Amber said, "So what do we do now? I assume Axel is not gone. Axel's been holding back. He was saving everything for the final battle.".

As Peyrite took off his shattered Judgment Armor, he said, "We wait. And when the hour comes, I will face him with all the power I have.".

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Maybe Spyro should do a Mike's Hard Lemonade commercial, it'd be great.

It all ends so violently, I know.

The final battle is not for quite a while. There is something that is to be done to weaken Axel enough first.

I just have an assumption that this will end violently.

I shaved this morning and I'm feeling this little prickly hairs on me face, they feel funny.

God, I'm easily amused.

Progress on the artwork?

Absolutely.........zilch.

I don't know how to begin, or how I would do it.

Take a pic of Spyros head and hands. Paste them over the head and hand of the Most Interesting man in the world in a pic of him, and then write the tag line.

I lack the computer programs for that.

You could do it with paint, if you have alot of patience and alot of time. ;)

Then draw Spyro holding a Mike's.

If I can get it to work on paint, after I replace The Most Interesting Man with Spyro, I'll just add a picture of a Mike's.

And if not... There is a Skylander's pic of Spyro that is in the perfect "Holding a beer" pose. You could add the Mike's in his outstretched hand. It's a stretch, but it'd work.

I accidentally uninstall paint now I use gimp I'm getting okay at it.

Now it looks much better. I see a man in a grey bussiness suit with spyro's head holding a mike's.
