Hello people. If you are like me, and can't stand to even think about the direction the games are going, then read on. Do you remember the first 3 games? When games didn't have to rely on an "original" storyline to be good. They had everything you could possibly want. Amazing gameplay that never gets boring, a soundtrack to die for, and (something you never can find anymore) replay value. It's sad to think about how every new game is progressively more horrible.
I remember when enter the dragon came out. It was the first game I played on the gamecube. There were so many things wrong with it to even list. To name just a few:
-the re-design of the characters. They look like fat balloons at a parade.
-the loading time for each level is just obscene.
-the "boss battles". I don't even need to explain.
It wasn't just enter the dragon though. Every game after it just got worse and worse. And with each game, came a more disgusting re-design. How did This

You're a little late on posting about this, Lavagolem. The game has been brimming with media activity since February, and we all know that it received a lot of negativity from the majority of the fanbase.

I agree with you Lavagolem,I don't like where the games have gones after The Eternal Night, and I thought the fact that Skylanders was originally a Mature rated game is totally different, but this topic is going to be flooded with the fans of Skylanders -.- There was a topic like this that you could have posted in rather than making a copy, but I do agree with you.

This is another hate topic for Skylanders, right? and this is a little late on the upbeat. I actually like how spyro looks in an ugly/goblin kind of way.

If you don't like the direction that the games are going in then why don't you simply just play the old ones. If those are those are the ones that you love yoiu should just play those. no reason starting up hate topics obout the new ones.

So your a fan who liked A New Beginning and The Eternal Night? I totally understand that, I really don't like how they totally changed everything in DOTD, since Sierra couldn't make it anymore -.- It would have been totally epic if Sierra made it *sigh* Just my honest opinion.

^mehhh, not so much as some others I suppose. though I really posted that generally for all the skylander haters. the part specifically directed at the author of this topic was the part about playing the old games.

I love Original and TLoS. Don't know what I'll think about this though, when it comes out.

I have to agree with CAV. How do you know if the game is bad if you haven't played it? This could be the one chance to bring Spyro back into the public, but you wouldn't know because you haven't played it.

And, they'll most likely have another game after this for Spyro. Who knows what that'll be like.

It depends on how much they advertise it on TV and in public areas.

And altogether just how successful it is. But I don't understand why Spyro's future would depend on this game other than if they're planning to continue Spyro in this style/universe.

Activision probably feels that if no one likes Spyro in this game or any of the later games, then there would be no point to keep his franchise alive. For them, this is Spyro's last chance.

Insomniac didn't sell them. They, in fact, never had any rights to the franchise. Universal has always owned Spyro and it was their decision to move to different developers after those three games were done.

Now, to the topic at hand:

For the love of god... *facepalm* From one classic fan to another, I respectfully say: get over it already. The Spyro games haven't been that good since 2000 and you should know this by now. Stop whining about the new thing and just play the old ones. Or consider giving the new thing a chance before writing the same bratty, whiny diatribe we've seen on endless loop from fantards since February. And if you just can't resist whining, at least be respectful enough to do some real research first and post it in the Skylanders board next.

I've noticed that hardly anyone seems to know about this fact, I guess not a lot of people do their research, I done mine on wikipedia, I know most of the time it is not reliable, but in this case it has been, I've known this personally myself for a couple of years now.

I'm pretty neutral on the subject, myself. Though I don't mind LoS or SSA, I've got to say;
how hard is it to replicate the original's style of play? Even EtD and AHT couldn't pull it off. But Sonic and Mario transitioned nicely?

In my opinion the first three Spyro games have excellent replay value, I can never get bored of replaying them again, but I may get the feeling of playing a different game once I've played them a lot of times, but there is still replay value there for me. The gameplay is easy, I admit, and therefore I find no part frustrating about those games. Also the soundtrack is very interesting listening to all of the different sounds you can hear in each track, and each track is different from each other. But I also like AHT, the music is not as good although the only piece I like is the Dragon Realms music, I like all the levels just as much as the classics, but most of the challenges are just plain annoying, the replay value isn't as good, I'd probably play it ocne every couple of years, also I find that the controls for this particular game are not responsive sometimes as the ones on the PS1, and therefore you can make mistakes which will make you fail. I really like the design of Spyro, it's my favourite out of all the games, and his voice over is cute, I think it is just as good as Tom Kenny and Carlos.

Back then... games could afford to have good gameplay. Now everyone whinges over gfx. QQ, blah blah blah...

Anyway, it's just a matter of effort. A huge production value doesn't mean effort, it means wasted money.
