What would you suggest to help me then? As I do agree completely with your opinion, I thinks that's the reason I have found it incredibly hard to draw...

Personally, I would recommend trying to use pictures with styles you really like as a reference. Not sure how well this works to be honest.

Yeah I may actually consider that. I do want to try something different as I have been drawing merely dragons and Pokemon for ages now and after a while it does become awfully tedious.

I've heard anime isn't really that great of a style to get into.

I agree.

You really don't want to get into drawing the anime style, because people tend to ignore it and won't see past it.

I say it depends on how your style works with anime. There are some really good ones out there (ex. Dhiea, hooooon, 35) , but if it's something generic, it's probably not going to be remembered.

For that picture did you just scan it and then color it? I want to know if that works, since I've been trying to figure out how to color my pictures.

Yeah. Ever since that "remove white" action popped up on DA, it's been a lot easier to scan and color on the computer. Personally I think it works pretty well, aside from sometimes the drawing looks different when scanned sometimes.

My Sonic characters usually are a good deal better, but these Sonic drawings were thrown together in like 5 minutes. :L

I like it! His left hand is kind of big, though.

I mainly Paint Tool SAI, although there are times I use Open Canvas 1.1.

Layers> Transerancy> Color to Alpha
automatically pops up with pure white, that's how i do it

Or, if you want pure black lines, use the select by color tool to select just your black lines, then go Select> Grow> 2. Make a new layer, keep the selection on and then click Edit> Fill with Forground Color and BAM, black line art

yes, but when you scan it, you may want to adjust the Brightness/Contrast settings a tad. I can give you a link to a tutorial i know?
