In the olden tales, dragons are foretold to be brutal human-eaters. So I can see how that would work. Actually, to be more realistic, shouldn't Spyro be the size of a house to humans?

I think it would be stupid if they did this anyway. It's like when they tried to make it too serious in LoS.

LoS was not too serious, just more serious. It had a nice balance between serious and funny.

Oh no, rest assured it is HIGHLY offensive to use that word as an insult. Doesn't necessarily stop people from using it as an insult. What a cruel world we live in sometimes.

^Worse still is the use of the term retard as an insult. It means mentally challenged (alot of the time) and when used as an insult it is thought to mean stupid or moron or idiot or anything similar. In reality though you just insult a group of people who have no control over thier sad state. In using such a term as an insult you are also trying to suggest that there is something shameful in the word, thereby suggesting that there is shame in a mental/developmental/physical handicap. Sorry, just felt like adding that. // rant

Anyway, I used to think of this idea all the time. Spyro in a dark twisted world (not like the wannabe epic darkness of LOS) really gritty and war torn. I imagine Spyro standing in a battlefeild, blackened and charred, bodies everywhere, rain and thunder from above, he's bleeding and engaged in an intense face off with some foe. This Spyro is more serious (but not the mopey doom and gloom Spyro of LOS); he's very angry, often cursing, violent, withdrawn, sullen, brooding, and unpredictable, and all in all the combined effect is frightening. He's not someone you want to be alone in a room with! He'd use powerful dragon attacks (but the over done god mode powers of LOS), as well as some technologies in his combat.

I guess it could be good, if done right, but it could only ever be a one-shot spinoff, and they'd have to make it clear that it is such.

I would NOT want this as a replacement Spyro!

Wow, does he really? Fireball, look up the definition of retard or retarded. It means to slow up, or more commonly slow to develope, specifically of mind/mental capability/maturity. Then go look up some examples of mental handicaps (ie.cerebral palsy) and see if you still think it's alright to use such a word in such a way.

Nowadays, mature teens are interested in blood and gore in video games. Some would be interested in wanting a Spyro game like that to be made, and forget what the reaction of the fanbase would think of when they see that their favorite purple dragon is disemboweling an enemy or something.
