They did have concept art of female moles that would be randomly running around in the Dragon City, but they were cut... But yeah, Cynder and Nina are the only female characters in the whole series. But the original Spyro wasn't much better, there were only 4 female characters that often appeared in any of the three original games...

But it still had heaps of females, and there are only that amount of main male characters too, you know, maybe a little more.

Zoe
Bianca
Elora
Sheila
The Sorceress
All the female characters you have to help out. Such as that ice skating bear in Icy Peak and that girl in Desert Ruins.
And the female baby dragons in YOTD. I'm sure there was heaps of them. I mean, you don't see a male dragon called Ruby or Kiki.

And there was Ember, Nanny and Ineptune (spelling?) in AHT, and I think one of the dragons in SL was a female too.

You're thinking of a set of games that don't have Cynder in them. She and Nina are literally the only girls in the whole of the LoS setting. It's pathetic.

For me even a bit sexist. One of Guardians should be female. In example, Ice Guardian, beacause Ignitus, Volteer and Terrador are perfect. Cyril is a bit annoying, with his "wise" advices...

Well, only 2 females in whole trilogy... I hope that in next Spyro games they will make more girls, as playable characters, level introducers or, I dunno, even Spyro's mother/lost sister (how about just-borned Sparx's sister, he could seem not to like her, but in fact he really loves her?)

Who am I to say anything.
Cynder may be the only female in DotD because they feared the art that would and did soon follow and tried to minimalize that.
Still see some...* shivers *

added
or maby it is tradition for games to be sexist, so they followed that

^ Last point= correct answer. More boys play games then girls, so the games are aimed towards them, cutting out 'unnessecary female characters'. Sad, but true.

I don't see any game as sexist, really....males are just as sexualized as females(yes, even in DotD). Developers don't think about morals like that, they are just making a game....and since when were games politically correct?smilie

So, if games are so un-sexist, why couldn't I play as a female in Pokemon (an RPG, mind, where you meant to be playing as yourself, hence the naming option) all the way until Pokemon Crystal, the very last GB Colour PKMN game? Why is it that so many games have lead male characters yet barely a handful come to mind in which you play as a female? And, ahaha, how are men sexualised in DOTD? If anything, women are the one's sexualised in games! Oh, and the 'save the damsel in distress!' theme is just the cherry on the top. Let's save the helpless men, for once!

EDIT: You have officially opened up my hardcore feminisim side. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

In the case of Pokemon, that was an old game. It was running on a lesser technology, it was a game aimed at KIDS, gaming wasn't very mainstream at the time....basically, gaming was considered a "boys hobby" at that point in time. There was not a large interest in gaming shown by females at the time those games were originally released, therefore, it was not relevant.

As for sexualization, both genders are equally sexualized. Nearly every game does it. Why you may ask? Well, would you rather play a game with an unattractive character? Most people get that little extra something out of an attractive character, so they won't mind.

As for sexualized males in DotD, well....you'd have to be blind not to notice. Even Spyro has it.

[User Posted Image]

In fact, I think he's more sexualized than Cynder. Just look at his build! He really looks like he's been working out! His chest sticks out more than Cynder's, he looks all around more muscley than in previous games, and his crest is all spikey, like some sort of gelled-up hair(which is even more so in the Classics, where he looks like he has a mohawk), and then he's got that cute, teenage guy face.

And even Sparx looks like he's getting a six-pack or something!smilie

Then there is Hunter and Cheif Prowlus, who have the typical "warrior" build, which a lot of human characters in fantasy games have.

Then all the adult dragons look pretty beefy.

And for the record, I talked about this before. As a reply, you said something like you would like to see some "hot Spyro x Hunter action"....

And the fact of the matter is....

Ohh, woah, never 'hot Spyro x Hunter' together, I meant... seperately smilie Gah, you have got me with DotD... Though I still think games are pretty sexist considering there's a much larger libary of games featuring male playable characters than female playable characters. And I agree with your above point on Pokemon, but it's still sexist!

Sexism, a term coined in the mid-20th century, is the belief or attitude that one sex is inherently superior to, more competent than, or more valuable than the other.

Never have I seen a game that shows this belief. Simply having more male characters does not make a game sexist. One could argue that a "girl being captured is sexist" as it makes a girl look weak, but it's not sexism as it isn't TRYING TO CONVEY ANY SORT OF MESSAGE! It's just for the sake of the plot. Saying it's sexist is just being nitpicky. If the "girls get captured more often" factor is sexist, then the christian god is sexist for giving human males a shorter lifespan on average than females.....

And men get killed off a lot more in video games....

Figure this, have you ever met a femaleof any age with a massive ammount of muscle? Just through history, man has been the one to go to war, wage war, cut trees, invade others, get into fights, etc.

Generly speaking, females appear to be weaker then men even if they are not. That being said causes the generlization that all female are weaker, thus the ones easiest to kidnap. Games are notourous for using stereotypes as well. Add the two together and what do you get? Video games staring men much more than women.

Any video game is just entertainment at the end of the day, nothing else really. I don't think there is any point in creating any type of 'love' for it, I mean, yeah you can show that you're a fan, but there's no need to go into it too much and go over the top.
